199: Chapter 199 Traveling through Central China
In the Kunlun Hall, Jiang Changge sat back in the host's chair and took out the Jade Slip containing insight into the immortal path.
The Jade Slip was warm and smooth all over, with faint golden patterns flowing across its surface. Holding it in his hand, he could feel a faint warmth seeping from his palm into his Meridians.
This insight into the immortal path rewarded by the System was one of the things he valued most right now. After reaching the Tribulation Transcendence Stage, he could faintly sense the existence of the threshold of Ascension, but it always remained as blurry as looking at flowers through a fog.
If he could refine this insight, perhaps he could see the road ahead beforehand.
Without hesitation, he pressed the Jade Slip to his forehead and probed inside with his Divine Sense.
That warm and gentle power flowed along his Divine Sense into his Sea of Consciousness, slowly unfolding within his perception.
He could feel the Concepts contained within those insights; the trajectories of heaven and earth's operations, the patterns of interwoven Laws, and some high-level power he did not yet fully understand were opening their doors to him.
Then, he hit an invisible wall.
That warm power suddenly came to a halt in the depths of his Sea of Consciousness, unable to extend forward even half an inch.
He tried to urge his Divine Sense to push that power forward, but found that although the wall was invisible, it was extremely solid, like a barrier built long ago, isolating him from the deeper levels of insight.
He tried several more times, but each time he was blocked at the exact same spot, unable to make any further progress.
That power seemed to be locked by some sort of rule; no matter how he guided it, he could not integrate it into his dao foundation.
Jiang Changge opened his eyes, removed the Jade Slip from his forehead, and looked down at the still-warm Jade Slip, falling silent for a moment.
He could feel that the obstacle did not come from the Jade Slip itself, nor did it come from a defect in his own dao foundation, but rather from this world.
It felt as if heaven and earth itself was telling himβthe time has not yet come.
He muttered to himself, "Do I have to Cultivate to the Perfection of Undergoing Tribulation before I can touch the insight into the immortal path?"
This speculation was not without reason. insight into the immortal path inherently involved power that transcended the level of this world. For him to touch it with his current cultivation was like a fledgling bird trying to fly across a ten-thousand-foot abyss; the timing was indeed not right.
He no longer forced it and put the Jade Slip back into his sleeve.
Since he could not refine it now, he would wait until he reached the Perfection of Undergoing Tribulation to try again. He did not lack time, nor was he in a hurry.
After putting away the Jade Slip, with a slight thought from Jiang Changge, the entire Kunlun Small World unfolded within his perception.
Below the Main Peak, several Disciples were sparring on the martial arts arena, chatting and laughing amidst the intersecting spiritual lights, the atmosphere relaxed and warm.
By the Xuanqing Pool on the back mountain, several figures were sitting cross-legged, regulating their breathing. The dense mist of the xuanqing liquid swirled around them, nourishing their Meridians and Divine Souls.
In the direction of the Trial Tower, he could perceive two familiar auras fluctuating inside. One was a silver-white fluctuation of the Law of Time and Space, while the other was the dark red Shura Bloodline Power.
Both Lu Jinghan and Li Zhongyuan chose to continue tempering themselves in the Trial Tower.
Lu Jinghan's aura was stable and deep, and each floor he cleared made his application of the Law of Time and Space more proficient.
Although Li Zhongyuan's aura was not as steady as Lu Jinghan's, it carried an innate Battle Intent. The characteristics of the Shura Clan made him feel like a fish in water in a combat-filled environment like the Trial Tower, with every clash accelerating his Bloodline's Awakening and Fusion.
Jiang Changge sensed them for a moment, and after confirming that both were in good condition, he withdrew his gaze.
He did not sense Zhou Tianchen's aura in the Kunlun Small World; he must have gone to the Medicine King Valley.
Jiang Changge did not mind. Zhou Tianchen's talent and self-awareness in the Alchemy Dao were stronger than most Disciples, and he knew what he needed.
Jiang Changge's perception continued to sweep through every corner of Kunlun, and the voices of Disciples chatting drifted over with the wind, with a few fragmented conversations falling into his perception.
"Senior Brother Ao Qin left? When did that happen?"
"Yesterday. It seems his royal father summoned him back. I heard something happened over at the East Sea, but he didn't say much about the specific details."
"With the Jiuqiu Fox Clan emerging, I suppose the East Sea side can't sit still either."
"Who knows, but Senior Brother Ao Qin said he would be back in a while."
Jiang Changge withdrew his perception.
Ao Qin's return to the East Sea did not surprise him. The news of the Jiuqiu Fox Clan's emergence had already spread throughout the Southern Wilderness. As the third prince of the East Sea Dragon Clan, it was only reasonable for Ao Qin to be summoned back by the Dragon King to inquire about the situation.
Although the Jiuqiu Fox Clan only made a brief appearance at the Cloud Sea Grand Ceremony, the quietly spreading tribulation qi and remnants of immortal power were already enough to alert the Dragon Clan.
As for how the East Sea side would handle it specifically, he did not plan to interfere. Since Ao Qin was already a Kunlun Disciple, the matters of the Dragon Clan were for him to weigh on his own.
Jiang Changge stood up from the host's seat and walked to the hall door, his gaze sweeping over this world that was slowly transforming under the combined effects of the immortal crystals and the nine-turn xuanhuang pagoda.
The immortal peaks still floated in the clouds, the spiritual springs still wound and flowed, the leaves of the enlightenment tree swayed gently in the wind, and the Disciples were cultivating, sparring, and discussing the Dao in their respective places. Everything appeared orderly and full of vitality.
Since Kunlun entered the secular world, although it had experienced quite a few incidents, its Foundation was already firmly established, and the Disciples were all growing steadily.
As the Sect Master, he only needed to take action at the most critical moments, leaving the rest to time.
Jiang Changge withdrew his gaze and stepped out of the Kunlun Hall.
Without disturbing anyone, he simply walked alone across the plaza in front of the Main Peak, following the bluestone path toward the mountain gate.
He did not use the instant transmission array disk, nor did he ride the wind; he just walked at an unhurried pace.
The Xuanhuang World was vast and boundless, and he had not yet set foot in all the places worth seeing.
As the head of the Five Regions in the Xuanhuang World, the Central Plains was vast, with intertwined forces. Many of those ancient Secret Realms, primeval ruins, and secluded Immortal Caves were buried deep within that land.
He did not have a xuanhuang key and could not enter the Xuanhuang Fortress through official channels like Lu Jinghan and the others. But to him, this was never a problem; with the instant transmission array disk in hand, where could he not go?
As he walked out of the Kunlun mountain gate, he glanced back at the towering jade mountain gate, and then took a step toward the north.
The desolation of the Ten Thousand Mountains swept past beneath his feet. After crossing the border of the Southern Wilderness, the terrain gradually became flat and open, and the concentration of Spiritual Qi was also steadily rising.
There was no clear natural boundary between the Central Plains and the Southern Wilderness, but when he crossed the final low ridge, he could clearly feel that a certain change had occurred in the Spiritual Qi in the air.
It was no longer the thin and mild state of the Southern Wilderness, but denser and more active, as if every wisp of Spiritual Qi was flowing at a faster pace.
He slowed his pace, his gaze sweeping across the endless plains and hills ahead; the Central Plains had arrived.
Jiang Changge was in no hurry to go deeper. He just stood on that ridge, looking ahead with his hands clasped behind his back.
He had no specific plans for this trip; he would go wherever his feet took him. If he saw a suitable Secret Realm, he would go in and take a look; if he met someone destined, he would take them in along the way; and if not, it did not matter.
As the most prosperous region of the Xuanhuang World, the Central Plains had numerous forces and many Secret Realms and ruins. It likely would not disappoint him.
Jiang Changge withdrew his gaze and stepped toward the depths of the plain.
His pace was leisurely. He did not deliberately conceal his aura, nor did he deliberately release his pressure; he just walked plainly and quietly, silently yet carrying an indescribable ease.
