548: Chapter 548 Just One Step Away

"Start!"

"Bang~"

A figure flew back at high speed.

"*&%¥, that was heavy-handed!" Kavasen almost couldn't catch his breath.

"Hahaha~~ I told you to concede, got beaten up, didn't you? Watch me avenge you." Contestant No. 40 strode toward the arena.

Three minutes later.

"Bang~!"

Another figure flew back; it was exactly Contestant No. 40.

"Huh, who was it that said they were going to avenge me just now?" Kavasen asked curiously.

Contestant No. 40 rubbed his chest and stood up, "Yesterday's wounds haven't fully healed yet, I didn't perform well."

"Do you have no shame? You stole my line."

While the two were bickering, the third contestant had already entered the arena.

The result remained unchanged.

Half an hour passed.

Fighting in the arena was Contestant No. 21. His strength was not bad, and he was trading blows back and forth with the veteran member. However, anyone with a discerning eye could see that No. 21's defeat was only a matter of time.

Because No. 21 had exhausted almost all his means, while the veteran member was still at ease.

Sure enough.

One minute later, No. 21 was unable to continue fighting and voluntarily conceded.

"Thank you!"

No. 21 thanked the veteran member. He could tell that the other party not only held back but also sparred with him.

"You're welcome. Your strength is not bad. After entering the Fifth Heaven, Cultivate well. I believe it won't take five years before you can enter the Sixth Heaven."

No. 21 cupped his hands and left the arena.

Next.

It was Xiao Weiqing's turn.

Up until now, no one had defeated the veteran members to enter the Ascension Battle, so everyone was extremely looking forward to Xiao Weiqing's fight.

Xiao Weiqing, expressionless, walked to the center of the arena.

A burly man with short-cropped hair walked toward him, holding a long spear.

"I heard you possess a Domain, and Ailar says your Divine Soul is very powerful. Let me see what you're capable of."

Xiao Weiqing didn't speak; he extended his hand and retrieved the ten thousand calamities from his spatial equipment.

No nonsense.

Both exploded with Source Power and charged at each other.

"It's started. I wonder if Burton can defeat Xiao Weiqing." The veteran members were discussing the battle between the two.

"It's unlikely. The opponent possesses a Domain; the probability of losing is high."

"Ailar, what do you think?"

Ailar stared intently at Xiao Weiqing, "I feel that Xiao Weiqing will win."

"You think that highly of him? He ranked 20th in the arena round-robin; he probably only just comprehended his Domain. I think Burton has a chance."

"We'll know if we keep watching."

The two had already collided in the center of the arena.

The man with the spear didn't underestimate Xiao Weiqing and struck first. The long spear in his hand was as fast as lightning, thrusting toward Xiao Weiqing.

Xiao Weiqing's eyes narrowed. He halted his forward momentum and used the ten thousand calamities to deflect the long spear.

The man with the spear clearly anticipated this and immediately changed his move, continuing to assault Xiao Weiqing. In less than a second, he thrust out several times.

"Clang! Clang!!"

The sound of weapon collisions rang out from the center of the arena.

"This Xiao Weiqing is so strong. He blocked Burton's attacks with just one blade."

"Indeed very strong. His blade technique is unexpectedly powerful; every move and style actually contains a hint of an unfathomable Concept, and Burton hasn't been able to land a hit."

"Hmm? Burton is getting anxious."

In the arena, Burton couldn't break through after a long time and frowned deeply. Xiao Weiqing's blade technique was like a turtle shell, leaving him unable to find an opening; no matter what kind of attack he used, it was neutralized one by one.

"Hmph, I don't believe it!"

Burton unleashed a horizontal sweep and leaped back several kilometers.

"This move will defeat you!"

Terrifying Source Power erupted, and blue lightning emerged from the tip of the spear. The next second, Burton disappeared from the arena.

"So fast!"

Xiao Weiqing's pupils constricted. He only saw afterimages and didn't dare to be careless. With a thought, his golden Domain unfurled.

Seeing the golden Domain ahead, Burton showed no fear, his figure becoming even faster.

"So what if you have a Domain? I learned this ultimate technique specifically to deal with Domains."

"It's here, Burton's trump card, ultimate speed."

"Ailar, pay attention. A first-layer Domain might not be able to block it; you need to be ready to save Xiao Weiqing in time."

Ailar's mouth curled up, "With Lord Dekar here, how could anything go wrong?"

However, she was also very curious to see if Burton could defeat Xiao Weiqing. Ailar had experienced that ultimate technique herself and knew its power.

Just then, in the center of the arena.

A blue stream of light plunged into the golden Domain.

"Mountain Elephant!!"

Rumble~~

The blue stream of light flew back at an even faster speed. Before he landed, the arena around Burton was shattered, and he was somewhat dazed.

Ailar flew over and caught Burton; otherwise, at this speed, Burton would have fallen out of the arena, dropped into the starry sky, and turned into Universe dust.

"Hiss!"

The veteran members gasped.

"Good heavens, that's ruthless, directly knocking Burton flying head-on."

"With this guy's strength, how could he be ranked 20th? Also, who did he lose to in the arena round-robin? Could it be the other two monsters?"

"Stop guessing. In the arena round-robin, Xiao Weiqing encountered Leibo, who also possesses a Domain. The two didn't fight to the death; after a probing exchange, Xiao Weiqing conceded, which is why he's ranked 20th."

"So that's how it is."

"Burton, are you alright?" Ailar asked.

"Cough~ cough~~" Burton swallowed the blood in his throat, "I'm fine." Although he said he was fine, the shock in Burton's eyes did not dissipate for a long time.

He knew that Xiao Weiqing had held back just now; otherwise, it wouldn't just be a simple injury. Furthermore, he was certain that Xiao Weiqing definitely didn't just comprehend his Domain recently.

"Alright, then you go take a rest." Ailar nodded.

"The match continues, No. 19."

Xiao Weiqing returned to the edge of the arena.

"Xiao Weiqing, your strength is even stronger than I anticipated. I look forward to fighting you again." Leibo was full of Battle Intent.

The other contestants who possessed Domains also looked over. As the only contestant who possessed a Domain but was ranked 20th, everyone had initially thought Xiao Weiqing's strength was just average.

Now it seemed they were wrong; Xiao Weiqing's strength was not below theirs.

Judging from the energy that erupted in that strike just now, they didn't dare say they could definitely receive it.

"Next, No. 18."

The slaughter continued. No. 19's strength was clearly insufficient and he was defeated by the veteran member.

Now it was No. 18's turn; he fought the veteran member for a long time but narrowly lost.

"It seems half the contestants will be able to enter the Ascension Battle," Xiao Weiqing thought to himself. The remaining ones were not weak; if the veteran members weren't too powerful, the contestants would likely all be able to achieve victory.

One hour later.

With the conclusion of the final battle, the first stage of the Ascension Battle of the Fifth Heaven ended.

A total of 16 people entered the second stage.

"Congratulations to you all," Ailar said with a smile, then looked at No. 17, No. 16, No. 13, and No. 12, "Do you four still want to continue?"

Although these four had defeated the veteran members and passed the first stage, they had all sustained serious injuries. Even with healing medicine, they couldn't recover to their Peak strength in a short while.

The first stage was already so strenuous; they would likely struggle to win the Ascension Battle.

"No, I give up."

"I also give up."

All four chose to give up.

"Very wise. Even if you passed the Ascension Battle, you would still have to face them; you simply have no chance." Ailar pointed at Xiao Weiqing and the others.

"Those who failed, go with them. The remaining people, wait a moment."

The 18 contestants who failed, along with the 4 who gave up, left with the veteran members.

Only 12 people remained in the arena, quietly waiting for the final Ascension Battle.
