212: Chapter 212 Xiao Ran Makes Wang Yang Take the Initiative

Qin Xiaoran stood to the side, watching Wang Yang settle Bai Yuyan down, then she looked at Wang Yang again.

"Brother Yang, you smell like alcohol. You should go take a shower. I'll watch over her here."

Wang Yang looked at the wrinkles on his shirt that Bai Yuyan had just gripped into existence, then looked at Qin Xiaoran.

"Alright. You watch her for a moment; I'm going to rinse off."

He turned and entered the bathroom.

Qin Xiaoran watched the bathroom door close, then turned around and walked to the bedside to sit down.

She looked down at Bai Yuyan, reaching out to gently brush the stray hairs from her forehead and tuck them behind her ear.

Bai Yuyan's eyelashes fluttered slightly, and she mumbled something indistinctly.

"Xiaoran, I'm so dizzy."

Qin Xiaoran smiled.

"Being dizzy is exactly the point. If you weren't dizzy, how could you keep someone here?"

Bai Yuyan didn't respond, just groggily turned over, buried her face in the pillow, and fell into a deep sleep again.

Qin Xiaoran sat on the edge of the bed, watching Bai Yuyan's sleeping profile and reached out a finger to gently poke her cheek.

"Yuyan, you look so beautiful today. You look even better when you're drunk. When Brother Yang was holding you earlier, he looked at you at least three times. He probably didn't even realize it himself."

"Someone like him, usually so composed—today, he couldn't take his eyes off you. You still don't believe it, saying he has no feelings for you. My silly best friend."

She withdrew her finger, rested her chin in her hand, and continued to mutter to herself.

"When I told you about that promise before, you didn't take it seriously. You thought it was just something we said for fun when we were kids. But I was serious. From childhood until now, you've been the person who treats me the best."

Back in high school, when Qin Xiaoran was bullied, Bai Yuyan would stand up for her and get punished by the teacher to stand in the hallway for an entire afternoon.

When she was sick, Bai Yuyan would skip class to buy her medicine, only to get marked for truancy herself.

She remembered all of these things.

That's why she wanted to share the best things with Bai Yuyan.

Wang Yang was the best person she had ever met.

"So you have to be like me; you can't miss out on him. If you married someone else, I wouldn't be at ease. If you marry Wang Yang, and we're together, I'm sure you'll be very happy."

Qin Xiaoran paused, the corners of her mouth slowly curling upward.

"Anyway, you can't escape tonight. I've been planning this for so long; the alcohol is bought, the designated driver is called, and Brother Yang is finished with his shower. Everything is ready; all that's missing is for you to be drunk."

Qin Xiaoran sat on the edge of the bed for a while, watching Bai Yuyan sleeping soundly, and the stone in her heart finally dropped.

... Ten minutes later.

The sound of water in the bathroom stopped, and Wang Yang opened the door and walked out, wearing a white hotel bathrobe.

His hair wasn't completely dry yet, swept back, with a few water droplets dripping from the tips.

He walked to the bedside and glanced at Bai Yuyan, who was sleeping on the bed.

She had turned over to lie on her side, her denim skirt wrinkled and rolled up a bit.

Qin Xiaoran stood up, walked over to Wang Yang, and tilted her head to look up at him.

"Brother Yang, you're done showering. Was the water hot?"

Wang Yang looked at her.

"Yeah. What exactly are you up to? I felt something was off since dinner. You kept plying her with alcohol while barely drinking any yourself. Tell me, what's your motive?"

Qin Xiaoran chuckled.

"I don't have any motive. I'm just happy. You're leaving tomorrow, so we're celebrating today. Yuyan doesn't have a high tolerance, she just had a couple of drinks too many, that's all."

Wang Yang narrowed his eyes.

"Still pretending. Do you really think I can't see through your little tricks?"

Qin Xiaoran tilted her head to look at him.

"Then what did you see?"

Wang Yang didn't reply, just looked at her.

Qin Xiaoran pouted, leaned in, and kissed the corner of his mouth.

"Brother Yang, just don't ask. Anyway, today is a good day. Keep me company and talk to me; we haven't had a proper conversation in days."

As she spoke, she pressed her whole body against Wang Yang, wrapped her arms around his neck, stood on her tiptoes, and kissed him again.

Wang Yang reached out, wrapped his arm around her waist, and pulled her closer into his embrace.

Qin Xiaoran had just finished showering not long ago; she was wearing a loose goose-yellow short-sleeved top and denim shorts, and she smelled fragrant, like shower gel.

Wang Yang's hand gently stroked her waist; through the thin fabric, he could feel the warmth and softness of her skin.

Qin Xiaoran closed her eyes, responding to his kiss, her body slowly softening as she leaned into his arms.

Wang Yang's hand slowly moved up from her waist, his fingertips touching the hem of her shirt before slipping inside.

His palm pressed against the smooth skin of her waist.

Qin Xiaoran's body trembled slightly.

Wang Yang's fingers continued upward, touching the edge of her fullness.

Qin Xiaoran suddenly pressed down on his hand and took half a step back, her face flushed, her breathing a bit hurried.

"Brother Yang, not today. I'm on my period."

Wang Yang's hand stopped.

"What do you mean by 'that'?"

"I mean, it's my time of the month. It just started today."

Wang Yang was stunned for a moment, then slowly withdrew his hand from under her clothes.

Qin Xiaoran couldn't help but laugh when she saw his expression.

"Sorry, Brother Yang. I didn't expect it to come today either. Don't make that face; it's not like I did it on purpose."

Wang Yang took a step back, leaned against the wall, and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Then why were you teasing me so much just now? Was that on purpose?"

Qin Xiaoran covered her mouth and laughed.

"I just wanted to be close to you and forgot about it. Don't be angry; it's bad for your health."

Wang Yang closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and rubbed his temples.

"Fine. I'm going to take a cold shower."

Qin Xiaoran pointed to Bai Yuyan on the bed.

"Brother Yang. There's still her."

Wang Yang's footsteps paused.

"What do you mean?"

Qin Xiaoran walked to the bedside and looked down at Bai Yuyan.

"Yuyan, she actually likes you too. She's too shy to say it herself, but I can tell. Every time I mention you, her ears turn red. Earlier at the Japanese restaurant, when I brought you up, she looked down at her tea and didn't even dare to look up."

"You thought she was just embarrassed? No, it was guilt. And just now in the car, when you looked at me through the rearview mirror, she was sneaking glances at you too. She thought she was hiding it well, but I saw it all."

Wang Yang was silent for a few seconds.

"So what? She's drunk right now; I can't just take advantage of her."

Qin Xiaoran looked up at him.

"It's precisely because she's drunk that I need you to. When she's sober, she's so stubborn that she'd die before admitting she likes you. If you don't seize this opportunity today, she'll just crawl back into her shell once she wakes up tomorrow."

"I know her too well. She's the type who can hide her feelings for someone for years; unless she's backed into a corner, she will never take the initiative."

Wang Yang stood there, looking at Bai Yuyan on the bed, without speaking.

Qin Xiaoran walked over and took his hand.

"Brother Yang, believe me. Yuyan is my best friend; I wouldn't harm her. She really likes you. It's just that her personality is too soft, and she needs a catalyst. Tonight is that catalyst. You just need to take the first step, and she'll figure out the rest."
