19: Chapter 19 Teaching a Thug a Lesson

Xiao Bei looked at Qin Ruoxi's profile, and a sudden warmth welled up in his heart.

He realized that today's Qin Ruoxi was completely different from the serious mayor he usually saw; she was more like an ordinary big sister, kind and natural.

The bus bumped along the road, and the scenery outside the window gradually changed from the city's high-rises to rural fields.

Qin Ruoxi leaned back against the seat and closed her eyes slightly, appearing a bit tired.

Xiao Bei, seeing this, asked in a low voice, "Sister, would you like to rest for a while?"

Qin Ruoxi opened her eyes, glanced at him, and said with a hint of a smile in her tone, "Alright, I'll nap for a bit. Wake me when we arrive."

Perhaps because she was a bit tired, Qin Ruoxi soon fell into a deep sleep.

Xiao Bei watched Qin Ruoxi's slightly closed-eyed profile, and a ripple of emotion couldn't help but stir in his heart.

Her face appeared exceptionally soft in the morning light, her long eyelashes fluttering gently, and her towering chest rose and fell with her breathing.

Xiao Bei's heartbeat involuntarily quickened a few beats. He hurriedly looked away, silently reprimanding himself in his heart, "Xiao Bei, what are you letting your mind wander about? She is the mayor, your superior!"

Just then, the bus stopped at a small station.

Screech~

The door opened, and an elderly couple walked up, trembling with age.

The old grandfather carried a tattered bundle, and the old grandmother leaned on a wooden cane. Both walked with a stagger, clearly well-advanced in age.

There were no empty seats left on the bus. Everyone pretended not to see them, and no one intended to offer their seat. The two elderly people stood in the aisle, swaying with the bumps of the bus.

Xiao Bei, seeing this, was just about to stand up to offer his seat when he saw that Qin Ruoxi had already opened her eyes and quickly stood up.

"Grandpa, Grandma, you two sit here," Qin Ruoxi said with a smile.

The old grandfather was stunned for a moment and hurriedly waved his hand, "No, no, young lady, you sit. We can stand for a while."

Qin Ruoxi had already walked to their side and gently supported the old grandmother's arm, "Grandma, your legs and feet aren't convenient, you should sit down. It's fine for us young people to stand for a while."

The old grandmother smiled a bit embarrassedly and patted Qin Ruoxi's hand, "Young lady, you are truly a kind person."

Xiao Bei, seeing this, also hurriedly stood up and took the bundle from the old grandfather's hand, "Grandpa, you sit in my seat. I'm young and strong; standing is fine for me."

The old grandfather looked at Xiao Bei, then at Qin Ruoxi, and a grateful smile appeared on his face, "Oh my, you young people are truly wonderful. Thank you both."

After the two elderly people sat down, Qin Ruoxi stood next to Xiao Bei, holding onto the back of the seat, swaying slightly with the bus's bumps.

Xiao Bei turned his head to look at her and said in a low voice, "Sister, you are a leader; offering a seat is something I should be doing."

Upon hearing Xiao Bei's words, Qin Ruoxi shook her head gently, "Leaders are also ordinary people and should lead by example. A small matter like offering a seat doesn't depend on status or position, but on a person's true heart. As public servants, we must always keep in mind the purpose of serving the people, rather than being aloof and detached from the masses. Got it?"

Xiao Bei felt a bit ashamed by her words and nodded, "Sister, you are right. My awareness is insufficient."

Qin Ruoxi smiled slightly and said, "You are young, take it slowly. What's important is to keep the people in your heart."

As the two were talking, the bus suddenly braked hard. Caught off guard, Qin Ruoxi's body lurched forward violently.

Xiao Bei was quick-eyed and fast-handed; he instinctively reached out to steady her, but in his panic, his palm accidentally brushed against her soft chest.

In that instant, Xiao Bei's brain went "buzz," and his heart almost stopped.

He hurriedly withdrew his hand, grabbed Qin Ruoxi's shoulders, and steadied her firmly.

"Sister, are... are you alright?"

Xiao Bei's voice was a bit tight, and a flush of embarrassment appeared on his face.

Qin Ruoxi clearly realized the accident just now; a look of unnaturalness flashed across her face, but she quickly regained her calm.

She lightly adjusted her clothes and said in a calm tone, "It's fine, the braking was just too sudden."

Xiao Bei felt a wave of annoyance in his heart and hurriedly apologized, "I'm sorry, Sister, I didn't mean to do that just now..."

Qin Ruoxi glanced at him, and seeing his face full of embarrassment, she couldn't help but chuckle, "Alright, look at how nervous you are. I know you didn't mean it. It's not like I'm going to eat you, right?"

Xiao Bei scratched his head awkwardly and hurriedly kept a safe distance from Qin Ruoxi.

Just then, Qin Ruoxi suddenly felt a hand maliciously touching her buttocks from behind.

Her expression instantly turned cold; she spun around violently and looked behind her with sharp eyes.

A young hoodlum with a buzz cut and a floral shirt was looking at her with a lecherous expression, clearly not expecting her to turn around suddenly.

Without a word, Qin Ruoxi raised her hand and delivered a loud slap.

"Slap!"

The crisp sound of the slap rang out inside the carriage, and everyone was startled by the sudden commotion.

The hoodlum covered his face, eyes wide, clearly not expecting Qin Ruoxi to act so decisively.

"You... you dare hit me?"

The hoodlum was humiliated and angry, pointing at Qin Ruoxi and roaring.

Qin Ruoxi looked at him coldly and said sternly, "In broad daylight, you dare to act like a hooligan? Hitting you is light; if you don't restrain yourself, I'll have you sent to the Police Station!"

The hoodlum was stunned by her aura but quickly reacted, feeling he had lost face. He became humiliated and angry, raising his hand to retaliate, "You stinking bitch, you're looking for death!"

However, before his hand could touch Qin Ruoxi, it was grabbed by Xiao Bei, who was standing to the side.

Xiao Bei's expression was grim; he applied force with his hand, and the hoodlum instantly grimaced in pain.

"You... let me go!" the hoodlum shouted, struggling.

Xiao Bei looked at him coldly, his tone icy, "You dare touch my sister? Are you tired of living?"

The hoodlum tried to struggle, but Xiao Bei's grip was extremely strong, and he couldn't move at all.

Xiao Bei used his other hand to grab the hoodlum's collar and slammed him hard against the carriage wall.

"Apologize!" Xiao Bei said sternly.

The hoodlum was frightened by Xiao Bei's aura and stuttered, "So... sorry, I was wrong, I won't dare to do it again..."

Xiao Bei snorted coldly and released his hand. The hoodlum instantly collapsed to the ground, looking disheveled and pathetic.

Just then, the bus happened to arrive at a temporary stop.

Seeing the bus stop, the hoodlum scrambled off the moment the door opened, running away without looking back, as if a demon were chasing him.

A burst of laughter erupted in the carriage, and the passengers clapped and cheered.

"Young man, well done!" A middle-aged man gave Xiao Bei a thumbs up.

"Exactly, such hoodlums deserve a good lesson!"
