35: Chapter 35 Let Miss Su keep you company
Xiao Bei raised his glass and smiled faintly, saying:
"Miss Su, you are too modest. Your professional competence is evident to all. However, Station Chief Jia, let's discuss the exclusive interview first."
Station President Jia Chengzhi laughed heartily and waved his hand:
"Secretary Xiao, you are truly dedicated. However, there's no rush for the interview. Let's have a drink first and relax. Su Yun, why don't you toast Secretary Xiao as well?"
Su Yun elegantly raised her glass, looked straight at Xiao Bei, and said in a soft voice:
"Secretary Xiao, I would like to offer you a toast. I hope you will continue to support the work of our city radio station in the future."
Xiao Bei clinked his glass with hers and said politely:
"Miss Su, you are too kind. I am just a secretary and do not have that much influence."
After three rounds of drinks, Station President Jia Chengzhi seemed to steer the conversation toward Mayor Qin, whether intentionally or not.
He smiled and said:
"Secretary Xiao, Mayor Qin's work recently is truly admirable, especially in the area of cracking down on organized crime. The results are remarkable. I wonder what big moves Mayor Qin has planned next?"
Xiao Bei felt a tightening in his heart, but his expression remained calm:
"Mayor Qin's work arrangements are all carried out in accordance with the instructions of the Provincial Party Committee. I am not very clear about the specific details."
Seeing that Xiao Bei was tight-lipped and would not reveal anything about Mayor Qin, Station President Jia Chengzhi became secretly anxious.
He rolled his eyes, his face filled with smiles, and his tone became even more enthusiastic:
"Secretary Xiao, you are truly too modest. It is truly Mayor Qin's good fortune to have such a capable assistant as you! Come, come, let's have another drink. It is rare to have the opportunity to get together today, so we must have a good time!"
Xiao Bei smiled slightly, raised his glass to clink with Station President Jia Chengzhi's, and his tone remained indifferent:
"Station Chief Jia, you are too kind. I am just doing my duty."
Seeing that Xiao Bei remained unmoved, Station President Jia Chengzhi turned his head and gave Su Yun a wink, then said with a smile:
"Su Yun, Secretary Xiao is a young talent of our Canglan City. You must toast him a few more times. In the future, we will have to rely on his care in our work!"
Su Yun understood, gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, and a trace of charm flashed in her eyes.
She raised her glass and said in a soft, seductive voice:
"Secretary Xiao, I would like to offer you another toast. I hope for your guidance in the future."
Xiao Bei frowned slightly, his vigilance increasing, but he maintained a polite smile on his face:
"I'm sorry, Miss Su. I don't have a high tolerance for alcohol and cannot drink that much."
Su Yun, however, was relentless. She lightly tapped Xiao Bei's glass with her own, her tone carrying a hint of coquettishness:
"Secretary Xiao, you are not giving me face. If you don't drink this glass, I will be unhappy."
Xiao Bei had no choice but to raise his glass and drink it all in one gulp.
However, Station President Jia Chengzhi and Su Yun had no intention of stopping and continued to toast Xiao Bei incessantly.
After a few more drinks, Xiao Bei began to show signs of intoxication.
He smiled reluctantly, his tone carrying a hint of refusal:
"Station Chief Jia, Miss Su, I have had enough to drink today. I still have some work to attend to, and I am afraid I cannot drink any more."
Station President Jia Chengzhi waved his hand and said with a smile:
"Secretary Xiao, no matter how busy you are with work, you must take care of your health! It is a rare opportunity to relax today, so please don't decline. Su Yun, keep Secretary Xiao company for a few more drinks!"
Su Yun smiled lightly, raised her glass, and moved closer to Xiao Bei, her tone carrying a hint of provocation:
"Secretary Xiao, just keep me company for a few more drinks."
Xiao Bei shook his head, stood up with difficulty, and his tone was somewhat slurred:
"I'm sorry, I really cannot drink any more. I have to go back."
Seeing this, a trace of sinister amusement flashed in Station President Jia Chengzhi's eyes.
He stood up and said with feigned concern:
"Secretary Xiao, you have had too much to drink. Let me have Su Yun take you to rest for a while."
Su Yun immediately stepped forward and gently supported Xiao Bei's arm:
"Secretary Xiao, you are drunk. Let me help you to the room next door to rest."
Xiao Bei wanted to break free, but his body was no longer under his control, and he could only let Su Yun support him.
He said with difficulty:
"No need, I can do it myself..."
Su Yun held him tightly, not letting him break free:
"Secretary Xiao, don't try to be brave. Let me help you over."
Station President Jia Chengzhi stood by and said with a smile:
"Secretary Xiao, just listen to Su Yun. She is the most considerate and capable anchor at our television station; she will definitely take good care of you."
Xiao Bei felt the world spinning, and the scene before his eyes became increasingly blurred.
He wanted to refuse, but his body was too weak to resist, and he could only let Su Yun support him as they walked out of the private room.
Su Yun supported Xiao Bei to a room next door that had already been booked, gently pushed the door open, and helped him to the bedside.
Xiao Bei forced his eyes open and saw the luxurious furnishings inside the room, and alarm bells rang in his heart.
He wanted to stand up, but his body felt limp and he could not muster any strength.
Su Yun gently pressed him onto the bed and said in a soft, seductive voice:
"Secretary Xiao, just have a good rest. I will take care of you."
Just as Su Yun was about to reach out to unbutton Xiao Bei's shirt, Xiao Bei suddenly opened his eyes, grabbed her wrist, and flipped over to pin her beneath him.
Although his eyes still carried a hint of intoxication, his gaze was sharp as a knife, staring straight at Su Yun.
"Miss Su, what are you trying to do?"
Xiao Bei asked coldly.
Su Yun was startled by the sudden turn of events, and a trace of panic flashed across her face, but she quickly regained her composure.
She forced a smile, her voice still soft and seductive:
"Se... Secretary Xiao, you have had too much to drink. I just wanted to help you take off your jacket so you could rest..."
"Rest?"
Xiao Bei sneered, his grip tightening slightly, "Do you think I would believe such a clumsy excuse?"
Su Yun's expression changed slightly, a flash of unease appearing in her eyes, but she still pretended to be calm:
"Secretary Xiao, what do you mean by that? I was just being kind..."
"Kind?"
Xiao Bei interrupted her, his tone carrying a hint of mockery, "Miss Su, the act you and Station President Jia Chengzhi are putting on is not bad, but unfortunately, I saw through your tricks a long time ago."
Su Yun's expression finally changed. She struggled, but Xiao Bei's strength was unexpectedly great, and she could not break free at all.
Her voice carried a hint of panic:
"Secretary Xiao, you have misunderstood. I really was just..."
"Just what?"
Xiao Bei stared at her coldly, and with his other hand, he pulled a small voice recorder from his pocket and pressed the play button.
The conversation from the private room just now immediately played from the recorder, crystal clear.
Su Yun's face turned pale instantly. She widened her eyes, and her voice trembled:
"You... you actually recorded it?"
