13: Chapter 13 The Omnipotence of the Holy Mage

In some remote small towns, his level of cultivation was enough to be considered a top-tier expert. Even some of the teachers in the academy were only at this realm.

After promoting to a Tier 2 Mage, not only did his soul power increase significantly, but the mana he could contain also became much more abundant. Even his physical attributes, such as strength, speed, and endurance, had undergone earth-shattering enhancements. Compared to when he had just transmigrated, he was like a completely different person.

"After promoting to a Tier 2 Mage, I haven't had a chance to properly test these changes."

"Now is the perfect opportunity to see just how strong I am."

As his voice fell, Lin Fan did not linger and leaped toward another tree branch. Dappled sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, scattering across the forest. Clad in a black robe, he moved like a shadow, shuttling and leaping between the tree shadows.

The undying robe fluttered gently in the wind. Viewed from afar, he looked as unrestrained and graceful as if he were flying on a sword. The sensation of leaping and moving about was simply too exhilarating. Lin Fan almost forgot the original purpose of leaving the city.

A few minutes later, a figure intruded into his line of sight. He suddenly snapped back to reality because he had finally encountered his first magic beast. His target for a first kill had appeared!

Lin Fan landed on a sturdy tree branch several meters in diameter and nearly twenty meters off the ground. Wrapped in a black robe with a white mask covering his face, his whole person exuded an unfathomable aura. Through the eyeholes of the mask, his gaze locked tightly onto the magic beast on the ground.

It was a massive Tri-color Giant Rabbit, standing a full six meters tall, with two huge incisors protruding from its mouth, looking hideous and terrifying. Apart from its exaggerated size and fur intertwined with green, black, and yellow colors, its appearance was identical to that of an ordinary rabbit.

Lin Fan recognized the breed of this magic beast at a glance. Back then, although he was a magic failure, he was a real straight-A student; if he could not even recognize such a basic magic beast, that would truly be a laughingstock.

The Tri-color Giant Rabbit was a harmless magic beast that inhabited areas near human settlements. Do not be fooled by its fierce appearance and terrifying size; it was a thorough herbivore, and once it sensed danger, it would only turn and flee. As long as one could make them lower their guard, many people would even keep them as pets.

More importantly, in the classification of magic beasts, the Tri-color Giant Rabbit only belonged to the common grade, the weakest existence among all magic beasts, with strength only slightly stronger than a mid-stage Mage Apprentice.

The classification of magic beasts is as follows: common grade Magic Beast, Mutant-level Magic Beast, Metamorphosis-tier Magic Beast, Divine Domain-tier Magic Beast, Calamity-tier Magic Beast.

"Good luck; the first kill target is just a common grade magic beast. It's perfect for testing just how strong my spells are now."

Lin Fan's mouth curled up behind the mask, his heart full of anticipation.

Back when he was still a Mage Apprentice, his spells could at most kick up a few specks of dust. Now that he had entered the Tier 2 realm, the power would certainly be worlds apart.

The next second, ten brilliant silver-white star points emerged from his soul sea, spinning rapidly around his body. In the blink of an eye, they condensed into two complete Star Patterns. The entire process took only an instant, enough to demonstrate his terrifying casting speed.

An ordinary Tier 2 Mage often needed several seconds to condense Star Patterns, yet he could achieve near-instant casting. The moment the two Star Patterns formed, a flash of silver-white light representing the Space Element flickered in Lin Fan's eyes. He slowly raised his right hand, his palm aimed at the Tri-color Giant Rabbit on the ground.

"Telekinesis Control!"

What he unleashed was the most basic and commonly used spell for a Space Element mage.

At the same time, the six-meter giant rabbit on the ground suddenly became alert, its two long ears instantly standing straight up. It looked around in a panic; although it saw nothing, it instinctively turned to flee. But it was all too late.

An invisible, overwhelming force suddenly descended, tightly imprisoning its massive body.

Awoo...!

The Tri-color Giant Rabbit let out a deafening roar, the sound quite fitting for its hideous appearance. It struggled desperately, wanting to break free from the restraint. But no matter how it twisted its body, it could not shake it in the slightest; instead, it was slowly lifted off the ground by that force.

The giant rabbit looked around in terror, its blood-red pupils quickly locking onto the black-robed, white-masked figure on the tree branch. Two cold silver lights gazed at it indifferently through the eyeholes of the mask. The moment it saw the person clearly, the struggle in the giant rabbit's eyes was instantly replaced by fear, and its whole body trembled violently, not even daring to move an inch.

Lin Fan could clearly feel the Telekinesis Control in his palm trembling slightly; that was the palpitation of the prey's fear. He maintained his casting posture and observed quietly for a few seconds. In the end, he sighed softly, feeling a touch of compassion. Looking at the giant rabbit's terrified appearance, he really could not bring himself to deal the killing blow.

After all, this was just a harmless herbivore, no different from the cats he had seen in his previous life.

"It seems I have to find another target worthy of attacking."

Lin Fan sighed helplessly and withdrew the Telekinesis Control shrouding the giant rabbit. Feeling its body lighten as it regained freedom, the Tri-color Giant Rabbit's survival instinct drove it to run wildly toward the dense forest behind it without looking back. But just a second before it was about to escape into the woods...

Swoosh!

A swift black shadow suddenly shot out from the bushes nearby, pouncing fiercely on the panicked, fleeing giant rabbit. Lin Fan's pupils constricted behind the mask. He watched helplessly as the black shadow bit hard into the giant rabbit's neck, tearing off a large chunk of flesh.

Lin Fan: "..."

"What the hell?!"

Having suffered a fatal blow, the Tri-color Giant Rabbit staggered and swayed, blood gushing out like a fountain from the wound on its neck, staining the ground beneath it red. It opened its mouth, wanting to wail, but only coughed up a few mouthfuls of blood, and then could no longer make any sound. Even so, the giant rabbit still used its last ounce of strength, struggling to escape into the forest. Its dying struggle made Lin Fan's heart sink inexplicably, and a surge of anger quietly rose. He felt strong pity and indignation for the death of this magic beast.

Soon, the giant rabbit could no longer hold on and collapsed to the ground with a thud. Blood was still gurgling from its neck, but its life aura had already been extinguished.

A cold light flashed in Lin Fan's eyes. He suddenly turned his head to look at the culprit who had successfully launched the sneak attack, his killing intent suddenly boiling, and the mana in his body surged and churned accordingly. That black shadow was actually a Single-Horned Magic Snake.

Lin Fan recognized it at a glance. This knowledge was all something the original owner had devoured from countless ancient books day and night. The Single-Horned Magic Snake was a highly poisonous magic beast. Its venom had a terrifying coagulant effect. Even if it only took a light bite, the wound would bleed incessantly, and the victim would die from excessive blood loss in a very short time. This three-meter-long magic snake, with a sharp horn several centimeters long on its head, was slowly slithering toward the giant rabbit's corpse. After a successful hunt, it was ready to enjoy its spoils.
