19: Chapter 19 Void Stone, Interdimensional Invasion?

Lin Fan walked forward and bent down to pick up the item.

It was a colorless, transparent stone.

Although there were quite a few stones scattered around,

this particular stone possessed an indescribable sense of incongruity.

He lifted the stone to examine it closely.

He could clearly sense the chaotic magical fluctuations emanating from within.

Yet, at the same time,

it felt completely empty inside, as if no magic existed at all.

"What a strange stone," Lin Fan muttered to himself.

He searched through the original owner's memories but could not find any information regarding this stone.

Clearly, neither he nor the original owner had ever seen such a thing before.

However, he was not confused for long.

The next second,

the omniscient mask on his face automatically triggered its appraisal function.

[Ding! Unknown item detected, analyzing...]

[Name: void stone]

[Details: A peculiar stone born amidst void turbulence, often associated with the vicinity of newly formed spatial rifts.]

[Can be used to reinforce spatial arrays and defensive barriers.]

Lin Fan: "..."

V-void stone?!

It was actually a void stone!

Looking at the small, colorless stone in his hand,

Lin Fan was so excited he almost jumped on the spot.

Even if he were ignorant, he knew the value of a void stone.

This thing was far more precious than a level-four magic core!

But what alarmed him even more was the origin of the void stone.

This type of stone only appears near newly formed spatial rifts.

Did this not mean...

Lin Fan dared not think further and warily looked around.

Although he did not know the specific uses of a void stone,

he was well aware of the terror of spatial rifts.

That was synonymous with disaster!

Once a spatial rift appeared, it meant that the brutal demon race was about to invade.

Those guys were all immensely powerful and certainly not something humans could easily contend with.

If a spatial rift appeared near Baiyun City,

this city would likely suffer a devastating blow!

"However, it doesn't look like a spatial rift has appeared here," Lin Fan muttered to himself.

"If a rift had actually appeared, the demon army would have swarmed out long ago. How could I still be standing here safe and sound?"

A new speculation emerged in his mind.

Perhaps some powerful explorer had accidentally dropped this void stone while passing through here?

This speculation sounded a bit absurd.

After all, anyone capable of possessing a void stone was certainly no ordinary person.

How could such a powerhouse lose their own treasure?

But compared to the theory of "a spatial rift appearing and then inexplicably vanishing,"

this explanation was clearly much more plausible.

What fool would believe that a spatial rift appeared for no reason, left behind only a void stone, and then vanished without a sound?

After much thought,

Lin Fan finally concluded that this void stone must have been lost by some powerhouse.

Having figured this out,

his mood immediately improved, and he happily tucked the void stone into his newly acquired space pouch.

Since he had picked it up,

it was now his.

The original owner shouldn't be so petty as to come all the way here to ask for it, right?

After all, being a powerhouse, their perspective must be broader.

"Alright, that's enough for today. It's getting dark faster and faster; if I don't go back, they will be worried."

Lin Fan did not delay any longer.

He sped up, rushing toward the city gate.

The "they" he referred to were his parents and sister.

Today was the weekend.

He had left the house early in the morning.

Aside from breakfast, he hadn't had a drop of water or a grain of rice since.

Strangely,

he didn't feel hungry at all; on the contrary, his body was full of strength.

After sprinting for several minutes,

Lin Fan finally rushed out of the forest.

The walls of Baiyun City were already visible in the distance.

He turned into a black shadow and sped toward the city gate.

Soon arriving at the border checkpoint.

The guards at the city gate saw him, recognized him immediately, and quickly opened the passage to let him through.

"Welcome back, respected Explorer, we hope your trip was fruitful."

A soldier greeted him with a beaming smile, his tone incomparably respectful.

They were merely ordinary mortals.

How could they dare to offend a mage?

Lin Fan did not speak.

He merely nodded slightly and walked straight into the city.

The soldiers craned their necks, looking at each other in bewilderment.

That white mask obscured all his expressions.

No one could guess whether he was happy or angry at the moment.

"At least he doesn't seem dissatisfied with us,"

a soldier watched Lin Fan's receding back and cursed under his breath.

"Damn mages, acting like they're all that!"

"Even though we are ordinary people, we are also risking our lives. What right do they have to boss us around?"

As soon as he finished speaking, his companion quickly nudged his arm and warned in a low voice:

"Stop talking nonsense! What if he's a high-level mage and can hear us?"

"We'll all suffer because of you! Do you have a death wish? If you're so capable, go awaken your magic talent!"

"Are you looking for trouble?"

"I just want to survive."

"You're courting death! Do you believe I'll slaughter you first to save you from being eaten by magic beasts?"

"Hey, hey, hey! Put your weapons down, no fighting!"

The city gate immediately descended into chaos.

Several soldiers were brawling noisily, while the others rushed forward to break up the fight.

Meanwhile, Lin Fan had long since walked away, heading toward the commercial district.

He found a secluded corner.

He took off his black robe and mask, changed into casual clothes, and then hailed a carriage.

After arriving in the commercial district,

he found another deserted spot and changed back into his signature attire.

"Tossing back and forth like this is really troublesome," Lin Fan muttered.

The omniscient mask had already automatically covered his face.

Now,

his identity had switched from "Lin Fan" to "Chen Ping."

He walked quickly toward the Alliance Building not far away.

As soon as he entered,

Lin Fan saw the first-floor lobby bustling with people, mages and ordinary people mixed together.

Most were there to sell the spoils of their adventures or to submit quests.

His attire of a black robe and white mask was too eye-catching.

As soon as he entered, he attracted countless curious gazes.

After all, very few people went out wearing such low-key yet mysterious clothing.

The mages in the lobby tried to perceive his level, but found it impossible to detect.

They mistook him for an ordinary person, immediately lost interest, and went back to their own business.

"Hmph, a guy pretending to be mysterious," a passing mage snorted coldly.

When passing by Lin Fan, their shoulders almost collided.

Lin Fan glanced at the other person through his mask.

Ignoring him, he walked straight to the waiting area in the corner and sat down.

A long queue had already formed in front of the reception window.

He would have to wait patiently for a while.

Just shortly after he sat down,

a familiar voice came from the corner.

"Oh my, Mr. Chen, you've returned."
