138: Chapter 138: The Two Studios Begin Operating at High Speed

After handling the matters in the group, Jiang Yuan put down her phone, finished the remaining half cup of boya juexian, and casually tossed the empty cup into the trash can next to the desk.

She leaned back in her chair and stretched, then sat up straight again and opened the ps version skin design drafts sent by the Art Group.

This was a request Sony had mentioned briefly before.

They said they wanted to give an exclusive benefit to players who bought the ps version of Minecraft at its official launch. In exchange, they could offer some promotional spot discounts for Minecraft.

Regarding this.

Jiang Yuan naturally had no reason to refuse and directly handed the task to Su Meng, letting Su Meng lead the Star Studio's Art Group to produce two skins.

She opened them and saw that the overall color scheme of the first skin used the classic gray of the original PS console.

Then, the hoodie's zipper was replaced with a colorful pattern of the four buttons—triangle, circle, cross, and square. A small PS logo was printed on the back, and four-color stripes were added to the sides of the shoes, which would be visible when walking.

Overall, it showed a lot of thought and sincerity, reflecting the goodwill of the Art Group members.

The second one was called Pixel World, inspired by the blocky style of Minecraft itself.

But the Art Group didn't just simply pixelate the character; they did something very interesting. The edges of the skin had a layer of fine pixel particles, as if the character was stepping out of a blocky world and hadn't fully materialized into reality yet.

The edges of the hoodie sleeves were square, and when the hood was worn, it became a flat rectangle, looking a bit clumsy yet cute.

Jiang Yuan zoomed in and out on both concept images several times, confirming they were indeed full of sincerity and had no flaws. She directly annotated: Send to Sony for confirmation!

After finishing, she couldn't help but chuckle, thinking to herself that with two such sincere skins, Sony surely wouldn't have a fit and send them back with more requests?

Of course.

If the Japanese side really did act up, with Jiang Yuan's personality, she certainly wouldn't indulge them.

After processing the skin approvals, Qin Gong suddenly sent a message on VX, saying:

"President Jiang, the internal confidentiality notice has been drafted and sent to your email!"

Jiang Yuan didn't rush to reply but opened her email to scan the notice first.

With Jiang Yuan's reminder, Qin Gong's wording was well-balanced. It first acknowledged everyone's recent work performance and then tactfully reminded them that there were some online speculations about the company's new project, asking everyone to avoid discussing project information in non-work settings.

Finally, it added a sentence: if external personnel ask about company business and you don't know how to respond, just say the company has a confidentiality policy and it's not convenient to say more.

The entire notice had no hint of assigning blame; it was more like providing employees with a template for refusing inquiries.

Looking over the content, Jiang Yuan nodded slightly and replied to Qin Gong:

"It's fine, no problems. Go ahead and send it."

As for whether it would be effective after being sent out, Jiang Yuan didn't actually care that much.

Anyway, with confidentiality agreements in place, truly core content could never be leaked. The reason for sending this reminder was just to test whether that mole was really a relative of a company member or if they were just guessing.

Time unknowingly reached 3:30 PM, still a while before finishing work.

After finishing her current work, Jiang Yuan thought for a moment and sent a message to Zhou Ming:

"When can I see the second version of the Global Illumination?"

Zhou Ming seemed to be sitting at his computer, as he replied immediately upon seeing the message:

"President Jiang, it should be ready to view by around four o'clock!"

"Good, I'll go to the Development Department at four."

After sending that, she opened Lin Zhengtao's VX chat box and replied:

"I watched the first video of the Fish AI. The alert distance can be extended a bit further. Make it so the fish don't just suddenly dart away, but stop for a moment first, then slowly swim aside for a bit, and finally accelerate to escape!"

Lin Zhengtao also replied instantly:

"Okay, President Jiang, I'll tune another version this afternoon!"

Jiang Yuan put down her phone and refocused her attention on the computer screen.

She opened the [Resident Evil] design document and flipped to the chapter on level design.

The map layout of the Mansion had already been drawn for three floors: the underground secret chamber, the first-floor public area, and the second-floor private rooms.

What she needed to do now was to mark all the key nodes on each floor: where the first enemy encounter would be, where the resource supply points were, and where the save rooms were.

On Earth, there was a repeatedly proven rule for horror game level design:

Players get bored if they stay in a safe zone for too long and anxious if they stay in a dangerous zone for too long.

A good level designer is like a conductor of emotional curves, knowing when to let players catch their breath and when to give them a hard shove just as they've relaxed.

And what Jiang Yuan had to do now was stand on the shoulders of giants and strive to reach even greater heights.

It sounded difficult and was even harder to actually do, but given Jiang Yuan's personality, she quite liked such high-difficulty challenges.

She wrote with focus for a while. When she reached the part about the sealed room at the end of the second-floor corridor, her phone's alarm went off; it was exactly four o'clock in the afternoon.

Jiang Yuan turned off the alarm, put her phone in her pocket, saved the document, stood up, and leisurely walked out of the office.

The hallway of the Development Department was exceptionally quiet today.

As Jiang Yuan pushed open the glass door of the Development Department, the sounds of typing and discussion flooded into her ears once more.

At the row of workstations by the window, Zhou Ming was hunched over, staring unblinkingly at the screen, his fingers moving slowly on the mouse. He looked like a stone statue standing there, with only his wrist appearing to move.

Wearing a chiffon shirt, a denim jacket, and black casual pants, Jiang Yuan looked around and walked straight over. Before she even arrived, her familiar, crisp voice rang out:

"How's it coming along?"

Hearing her voice, Zhou Ming immediately looked up, pushed up his glasses, and said seriously:

"President Jiang, the second version is finished. I've added graininess to the shadow areas and retuned the Light Attenuation Curve. Why don't you take a look at the effect?!"

As he spoke, he turned the computer screen toward Jiang Yuan.

On the screen was a rendering of a Mansion corridor.

Compared to the first version, the contrast between light and dark in this one was much stronger.

Where the wall lamps shone, the patterns on the wallpaper were clearly visible, even showing a slight yellowish sense of age.

But beyond the edges of the light, the shadows weren't just a solid black; they had a layer of extremely fine particles, like noise on old film.

The end of the corridor was lost in darkness, where a half-open door could be vaguely seen. A sliver of light leaked from the crack of the door, but it was impossible to see what was behind it.

Jiang Yuan crossed her arms and leaned over slightly, looking from behind him with a focused and serious expression. On her exquisitely beautiful face, her thick eyelashes were like two small fans, blinking incessantly.
