64: Chapter 64 Prejudice in people's hearts is a mountain!

From day to night, then to the pool, in over two days, he had already reached the third stage of Adventure Mode. He had spent almost all of his break time on this game.

And what was currently displayed on the screen was exactly Level 3-3 of the Pool Stage.

It was hard to imagine.

Two days ago, Lin Zhou had still looked at this game with a bit of disdain, even holding the thought of supporting Spark Games just to add one more game to his library.

He planted another Sunflower, and his sunlight balance jumped to 175. Lin Zhou quickly scanned the situation on the field.

Rows three and four were the water lanes, already covered with Lily Pads, and a Peashooter was planted on each Lily Pad.

But the problem was at the end of the fourth row; a zombie wearing a snorkel was sneaking underwater. The Peashooter's bullets flew over the surface of the water, unable to hit it at all.

"Good thing I have the kelp."

Lin Zhou muttered to himself as he quickly moved the mouse to the plant slots on the left and selected that purple seaweed-like plant—the Tangle Kelp.

He had checked the Almanac before and knew this thing could be planted directly on the water to drag underwater zombies down and consume them.

He clicked the mouse on the Snorkel Zombie's head. The sound effect of the Tangle Kelp entering the water rang out, and a small ripple spread across the surface.

The zombie that was originally sneaking underwater was instantly ensnared. After a few struggles, it sank.

"Nice!"

Seeing this, Lin Zhou couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

However, before he could be happy for long, a new zombie emerged from the right side of the screen. That damn thing was wearing a ducky tube and was paddling across the water.

It was a Ducky Tube Zombie!

Lin Zhou's eyes narrowed slightly as he scanned the plant slots, quickly locking onto the Squash.

While the Potato Mine was very cheap, it required a waiting period and couldn't be planted on Lily Pads. The Cherry Bomb had an immediate and outstanding effect but was relatively expensive.

Only the Squash was cheap while also having a very decent effect; it could directly crush those damn zombies. Anyone who had used it would say it was good; its cost-effectiveness was maxed out!

He quickly planted a Squash in the path of the Ducky Tube Zombie and added another Peashooter to the Lily Pad ahead.

The moment the Ducky Tube Zombie paddled into the water lane, the Squash slammed down with a crash. Water splashed everywhere, and the zombie, along with its ducky tube, was smashed into the water.

"Hehe, Squash is a god!"

Lin Zhou picked up the iced cola from the table with a smile and took a sip. A sudden chill reached his heart, making him feel completely comfortable!

The level progress bar in the bottom right corner had already passed the three-quarter mark; there was only one last wave of zombies left.

He was planning to take advantage of the gap to add a few more Sunflowers and Peashooters.

But suddenly, a noise came from behind him.

He subconsciously turned his head to look.

He saw the dormitory door being pushed open, and a figure staggered in. It turned out that his roommate, Zhao Yuan, had returned from picking up takeout.

"Playing that damn game of yours again, Lin Zhou?"

Zhao Yuan strode in carrying a bag of takeout, glancing at the computer screen with a somewhat speechless expression.

"With this kind of time, you might as well come and play the best game in the world with me! crossfire! We can play Zombie Mode together. Isn't that much more interesting than you fighting those retarded big-headed zombies?"

Lin Zhou continued playing his game, replying without turning his head.

"I'm not playing an elementary schooler's game. Before the loading screen even finishes after entering a room, my damn family has already been 'confiscated'."

Hearing this, Zhao Yuan instantly fell silent, unable to respond. He was clearly quite annoyed but couldn't find any reason to refute it.

Feeling utterly speechless, he unpacked the takeout bag, took out a Roujiamo filled with green peppers and beef that emitted a rich aroma, and took a big bite.

Zhao Yuan enjoyed the satisfaction of the juices bursting in his mouth while standing behind Lin Zhou, looking at the screen with a sense of superiority from playing a blockbuster game from a major developer. He changed the subject:

"The graphics of this game aren't bad, but isn't it just planting plants to fight zombies? It's about the same as that... Protect the Princess game we played as kids? What's so fun about it?"

"It's different."

Lin Zhou multitasked, dealing with the final wave of zombies while speaking calmly.

"You have to consider the sunlight economy, plant layout and combinations, and zombie type counters."

He pointed at the locations where zombies were appearing on the right side of the screen and said softly:

"Look at these zombies. Each type has different mechanics. When they appear and which row they come from follows a pattern. You can't pass just by mindlessly planting things."

Zhao Yuan took another bite of his Roujiamo and said indistinctly:

"That's enough. I see it as just a casual game. At most, you'll finish it in two or three days and then let it gather dust in your library. Buying this thing is a pure waste of money. You'd be better off buying a gun skin in crossfire! That would last you for years!"

Lin Zhou said nothing.

As the saying goes, prejudices in people's hearts are a great mountain!

He couldn't be bothered to say anything more to this guy whose mouth was harder than a rock. If they didn't usually get along well, he probably wouldn't have even bothered to explain earlier.

Instead of wasting time arguing with such a person, he would rather immerse himself in the joy the game brought him.

Another wave of zombies appeared on the screen. This time, it was two usually Zombies plus one Screen Door Zombie, attacking from the fourth and fifth rows simultaneously.

He quickly added a Wall-nut in front of the fifth row and planted a Threepeater in the water lane of the fourth row.

Although this thing cost over three hundred sunlight, it could attack three rows at once. Planting it in the middle of the water lane happened to cover the two rows of land above and below it; the cost-effectiveness was quite good.

Zhao Yuan knew his words seemed to have made Lin Zhou a bit unhappy. He couldn't help but feel a secret pang of regret, but since the words were already out, it wasn't easy to say much more at this moment.

He could only watch as Lin Zhou's fingers quickly switched between the mouse and keyboard, selecting plants and arranging them with a tight rhythm that made it look like he was playing some RTS game. The mockery in his eyes slowly faded, replaced by an indescribable emotion.

"It actually seems kind of interesting?"

Of course, these words were only muttered in his heart; it was absolutely impossible for him to say them out loud.

He went back to his seat and turned on his computer to log into Steam. He didn't want to buy anything; he just wanted to see if there were any new updates for the only shooter game he had ever bought.

But in the new recommendations column for Steam strategy games, the first large image was that lush green lawn with a row of round plants standing on it.

[Plants vs. Zombies]

"A strategy tower defense classic, the latest masterpiece from Spark Games!"

Zhao Yuan gave a sneer as he scrolled down with the mouse wheel, glancing at the game tags.

Strategy, Tower Defense, Casual...

He checked the reviews again: over forty thousand comments, 98% Overwhelmingly Positive.

"So many reviews? They can't be fake, can they..."

He muttered silently, closed Steam, opened crossfire, and launched it!
