It darted through bushes, ambushing him with sneaky headbutts more than once.

Mo Lin, stubborn as ever, refused to give up. Bruised and slightly dizzy, he kept running after the creature with gritted teeth.

He returned to the group triumphantly, holding the rabbit’s body over his shoulder like a prized trophy.

His clothes were slightly dusty, his face was scratched, and there was a visible lump forming on his head — but he looked pleased with himself.

"Hahaha! Let’s eat the food I hunted myself!" he declared proudly.

Everyone clapped and thanked him, appreciating the effort, even if they had all just watched the chaos unfold like a live-action comedy.

Finding a shaded clearing nearby, the group set up a simple campfire.

"Who’s skinning the rabbit?" Yu Xuan asked casually.



Immediately, all the girls turned their heads away, pretending they hadn’t heard him.

"Well, I guess we’ll settle this the old way," Yu Xuan muttered, and they played a quick game of rock-paper-scissors.

The unlucky Yu Hao, the broadest and most muscular of the group, lost.

"Ugh... fine," he grumbled and got to work, carefully skinning and cleaning the horned rabbit.

After the meat was prepped and a fire was lit using some spirit-kindling stones, they began roasting the rabbit.

Soon, the aroma of grilled beast meat filled the air.

"Mmm... this is amazing," Yu Bo said, his mouth watering as he wiped it with his sleeve.

"Killing a mid-stage Qi Condensation horned rabbit isn’t bad," Lin Fan commented between bites, his tone neutral — but that was high praise coming from him.

"Indeed. Its meat really is tender," Yu Xuan added, chewing slowly and savoring the taste.

Though they made light of it, every normal cultivator knew that killing a mid-stage Qi Condensation realm beast wasn’t a minor feat — especially alone while still being a mortal.

Had it been a regular mortal, their head would’ve been busted in the moment the rabbit’s hammer-like horn connected.

This only confirmed that, they weren’t just talented.

But... their little show didn’t go unnoticed.

Suddenly, the quiet forest atmosphere shifted.

From the distance, the heavy sound of padded feet thudded against the earth.

Multiple beasts — fast and coordinated — were approaching rapidly.

Yu Xueqing groaned, her hand still gripping a half-eaten rabbit meat. "I just wanted to eat in peace."

"I want to fight now!!!" Lin Fan shouted with burning excitement, his eyes gleaming.

Like the simple-minded protagonist he embodied, he never avoided a good brawl — even when it was the most logical choice.

Having watched Mo Lin earlier, his blood was pumping with anticipation.

The group quickly shoved the last bites of meat into their mouths, then stomped out the campfire.

The sound grew louder. Then—

Growls.

Low, echoing, and filled with malice were heard.

Emerging from the treeline came over more than twenty wolves, each covered in white, spiked fur.



Their eyes gleamed with a faint blue glow, intelligent and vicious. From their pressure alone, it was clear — they ranged from early to mid-stage Qi Condensation realm.

But that wasn’t the real threat.

Behind them came a massive wolf — larger than any of the others, its fur a steel-gray color, not white like the rest. Its body shimmered under the light, as if its fur were blades of metal. The aura it radiated was overwhelming, clearly a boss.

"A peak-stage Qi Condensation..." Yu Bo muttered grimly. "This will be tough."

Standing taller than Yu Bo himself, the gray wolf growled low and slow, the ground beneath its paws cracking slightly.

The group tensed. This wasn’t a single target like before.

This was a coordinated pack, following instinct and leadership.

They were outnumbered.

But no one backed down.

Instead, they grinned.

Yu Xuan now was seated on a nearby tree branch, watching them with a serene smile. "You all can handle this. Otherwise, you don’t deserve to be called geniuses."

"T-Too cruel, Young Master!" Yu Zhen complained with a twitching brow. But there was no real anger in his voice — only grim understanding.

Their so-called ’de facto leader’ had just sat this one out.

And now, all eyes were on them.

Refusing would be shameful. And for cultivators walking the path of power, pride mattered.

To be seen shrinking back from a beast tide in front of their peers?

Unthinkable.

With their blood boiling and competitive spirits flaring, each of them stepped forward to meet the charge.

A single, high-pitched howl cut through the forest — and the wolves pounced.

Their coordination was alarming. As if trained, the pack moved to split the group apart, isolating them one by one.

Among the group, Yu Zhen looked the most worried. On the other hand, Ming Tianmei stood perfectly calm, sword in hand, unbothered by the approaching danger.

Then, Lin Fan — as expected from some transmigrated protagonist— took the lead.

With no plan, no formation, and full enthusiasm, he raised his weapon and shouted with a laugh,

"Now we fight!"

And just like that, chaos erupted.

The wolves lunged, and blades met claws.

From his place near the back, Yu Xuan watched calmly... until something caught his attention.

His gaze shifted toward the deeper part of the forest — toward something that was watching them from afar.

In the next instant, his figure blurred.

And vanished from where he had been sitting.
