104: Chapter 104 Gold in the Warp

When the Security Forces, mobilized by trainee judge Cheng Yu, arrived at the Jinmen Group to collect debts, the accountants, managers, and staff of the Jinmen Group were busy throwing company documents and ledgers into a fire basin.

There was no way around it; Clone No. 3 had set up a chain of schemes, treating this entire group of people as abandoned pawns.

The liquid assets had long been transferred away, the fixed assets had long been mortgaged, and all that remained now was a mountain of debt.

Everyone knew where Clone No. 3 lived, but no one dared to go and cause trouble for the Third Master.

Now it was just a matter of who was faster; after all, for such a large group, no matter how clean Clone No. 3's methods were, there would always be some loose assets left behind.

As a newly joined member, Knife Cheng hadn't managed to get his hands on anything at all. In his haste, he had made a mistake and snatched a gold watch, only to have it stuck to a magnet.

Deadly Living Monkey was much smarter than him; he directly seized Accountant Cheng and interrogated him about where the rest of the money was hidden.

Accountant Cheng spread his hands, appearing fearless. "There's none left in the real world, but there are two safes in Warp. Do you dare to go and get them?"

"Are you fucking crazy?" Knife Cheng pulled out his knife and pressed it against his neck. "Anything good placed in Warp would just be ruined."

"Tch, you're so ignorant. Our Empire is under the protection of Lord Slaanesh, and He allows us to store precious metals in Warp."

"How much?"

"Over a hundred pounds."

"A hundred pounds of what?!" Even Deadly Living Monkey's tone became urgent at this.

"Gold, of course! Why else would we be bored enough to store a hundred pounds of pig iron in Warp!"

"Doesn't your boss care about this?" Knife Cheng still found it hard to believe.

"The two vice presidents did it themselves; the boss doesn't know. The password is in my hands. We go, take it, and come back. No one will investigate!"

"Holy shit, no wonder the Third Master wanted you all dead!"

Now, Betel Nut Cheng was dead, and the other, Three-Handed Cheng Yu, was missing and presumed dead.

Missing and presumed dead meant dead.

Which meant... the only person who knew the whereabouts of this gold now was the accountant in front of them.

Knife Cheng and Deadly Living Monkey whispered to each other for a long time, discussing the risks of a trip to Warp and the credibility of the accountant's words.

In the end, the two decided to call for backup.

Warp was an exceptionally dangerous place. Even with the strength of the Empire, they had only managed to establish one settlement there so far. For these three, going there would be a suicide mission.

The fact that Accountant Cheng was willing to tell them about such a significant sum of money likely meant he had intentions of cooperating.

"Old man, you're single-mindedly focused on martial arts; I doubt you know many people. Let me handle the task of gathering companions." A cunning glint flashed in Knife Cheng's eyes.

"Hey, don't look down on an old man. Even Qin Hui had three loyal friends. Why don't we each go find a few trusted companions, and we can split it by head count, how about that?" The glint in Deadly Living Monkey's eyes was even more cunning.

Knife Cheng thought about it for a moment and figured that the old man probably didn't know as many people as he did, so he agreed.

They first tied up Accountant Cheng and left him as collateral at the pawnshop, then went off to gather their own men.

...

Half a day later, the two of them rushed back to the pawnshop with the companions they had recruited. Although the pawn ticket stated that both parties had to be present to retrieve the collateral, it was clear that both were afraid the other would play a dirty trick.

The ones Knife Cheng brought were his ex-wife, a Slaanesh Nun with Eight-Eyes, and two former gang members who were currently working as assistants in the Hive City Security Force.

These three... creatures, were all quite high in martial prowess. At the very least, Knife Cheng was no match for any one of them in a one-on-one fight.

By the way, the Slaanesh Nun had a cognitive filter; others only saw her as an ordinary beauty, and only Knife Cheng could see her true form.

It wasn't because Knife Cheng possessed any psychic powers, but because the two were too familiar with each other, and the Slaanesh Nun Eight-Eyes couldn't be bothered to wear psychic makeup in front of him.

Deadly Living Monkey's connections were even wilder; he had actually managed to recruit the Twin Demons of the Frontier as his companions.

They were the male and female clones who had been chasing and killing the Jinmen Group executives earlier.

This immediately triggered Knife Cheng, and since he had come prepared this time, he had actually managed to get his hands on a Gauss rifle.

Gauss weapons were civilian versions of Necron weapons; they didn't possess the power to disintegrate everything, but they were still powerful enough to punch through five-meter-thick steel plates.

The downside was that the recoil from this electromagnetic force was too great. When one person fired, at least three people had to hold them steady from behind, like a human centipede, otherwise the shooter would easily be sent flying backward.

"What are you doing, old man!" Knife Cheng raised his rifle. The rifle was wrapped in a fishing rod cover, so it didn't scare the people around him.

"Oh, a firearm?" Deadly Living Monkey was single-mindedly focused on martial arts and didn't understand these new weapons, but he could feel the intense killing intent beneath that pitch-black muzzle.

The Living Monkey's speed was incredibly fast. In the blink of an eye, he had flashed to Knife Cheng's side, followed immediately by a grappling hold that grabbed Knife Cheng's wrist. Just as he was about to crush the other's wrist, the Slaanesh Nun Eight-Eyes made her move.

She sent out tentacles—tentacles like those of an octopus shot out from Eight-Eyes' mouth and tightly bound Deadly Living Monkey's neck.

"Go ahead and do it. If you make a move first, I can strangle you to death first!"

The remaining two Security Force assistants and the Twin Demons of the Frontier were also on edge, with a fight on the verge of breaking out.

"Stop fighting! If you want to fight, go outside!" The pawnshop staff wanted to report it to the Security Forces again, but the collateral, Accountant Cheng, stopped them.

"Flowers may bloom again, but youth never returns. Gentlemen, we are all here to seek wealth; you must not lose your tempers!"
