113: Chapter 113: Kamikaze Attacks

Because they hadn't managed to rob any money, Wild Dog Cheng Yu and his cohorts decided to let their malice take over. They resolved to kidnap all the Slaanesh Nuns in the camp and then send a ransom note to their superior organization, the Slaanesh Church, to demand money.

Writing a ransom note required too high a level of literacy. As it happened, one of the three idiots had a children's phone watch, so they decided to record a ransom video instead.

"You, repeat after me." Cheng Yu said, holding the draft he had prepared, while the clone beside him held up the phone watch like Detective Conan.

"You, repeat after me." The Centaur Nun repeated after him.

"You don't need to repeat this part."

"You don't need to repeat this part."

"Forget it," Wild Dog Cheng Yu continued, "We have been kidnapped by a group of very, very bad clones."

"We have been kidnapped by a group of brainless clones." The Centaur Nun started speaking in Warp language, which none of the clones could understand.

"Please give us one million in ransom, all in old twenty-currency bills." Wild Dog Cheng Yu said.

"Give them one million in counterfeit legal tender, the twenty-currency kind." The Slaanesh Nun said.

"Three days from now, meet at the water replenishment port at the southeast corner of the Yucai Hive City heat exchange tower. If the money doesn't arrive, we'll kill the hostages." Wild Dog Cheng Yu said viciously.

"Is it three business days or three calendar days?" The Slaanesh Nun asked back in Gothic.

"Why do you care about that? I'm the kidnapper, okay? Be serious, three days is three days!" Wild Dog Cheng Yu laughed in annoyance.

"But isn't the Emperor's Longevity Festival three days from now? Are you sure you want to make the exchange on that day? Security will be very tight." The Slaanesh Nun reminded him.

"Long live His Majesty!" The four dim-witted clones saluted toward the top of the Hive City in unison, and then Wild Dog Cheng Yu compromised, "Fine, let's make it three business days. The Longevity Festival is a three-day holiday, and it's inconvenient to withdraw cash from the bank."

Just like that, a ransom video was successfully recorded via the children's phone watch and sent to the Slaanesh Church's email address.

Since the entire Empire's network servers were hosted on the ancestor core provided by the Space Dwarf, this illegal video was immediately identified by the AI, and a copy was sent to the Yucai Hive City Security Forces control center at the moment of transmission.

However, the clone responsible for this section wasn't working very diligently; he was dozing off during the manual review.

Because he only saw a Slaanesh Nun viciously making extortion threats, switching between Warp language and Gothic, the clone assumed that this Slaanesh Nun had kidnapped the clones opposite her. Consequently, he issued a notice, ordering his colleagues in the Security Forces of the corresponding jurisdiction to surround the Slaanesh Church mentioned in the video and rescue the hostages.

These were troubled times, and it was also the serious period leading up to the Emperor's Longevity Festival. After a brief mobilization and preparation, thousands of fully armed Security Officer Cheng Yus marched grandly from the security station and surrounded the Slaanesh Church with lightning speed.

Although the Slaanesh Church was called a church, it wasn't actually a place for preaching; it mainly sold goods from Warp and conducted shady business that the Empire couldn't be bothered to manage.

The Slaanesh Nuns here had only minimal armament, but they had the backing of an evil god, so they showed no fear even when facing thousands of troops. Holding some cold weapons and constructing barricades, it looked like they were prepared for a fight to the death.

While the two sides were in a tense standoff, some reckless Reporter Cheng Yus and traffic-hungry, death-defying Streamer Cheng Yus were reporting or livestreaming right in the crossfire.

"Fight! Fight!" On some towering buildings overlooking the scene, clones and foreign residents who loved the chaos were eating barbecue, setting off fireworks, popping champagne, and recording short videos on their balconies, looking as happy as if it were a holiday.

"Ahem, ahem, ahem." The leader in charge of the Security Forces on the scene was a raspy-voiced Cheng Yu. "Sisters of the Slaanesh Court, I advise you all to remain calm, exercise restraint, and not do anything... ahem, anything that isn't calm or restrained."

"Screw you!" A Slaanesh Nun, occupying a favorable tactical position, fired an arrow at the raspy-voiced Cheng Yu. Fortunately, it was blocked and deflected by his helmet, and the arrow eventually hit the plaster statue of the Emperor standing at the street corner.

"Insolence! Open fire!" Now, even if the raspy-voiced one wanted to remain calm and restrained, he had no choice but to immediately order the weapons to be activated.

Because they were in the Mid-Hive and surrounded by many residents, powerful artillery couldn't be used. Therefore, the clones used the most ancient trebuchets—or heavy catapults, if you will. However, they weren't throwing simple stones, but burning calcium carbide, which was a byproduct of the heat exchange towers and available in abundance.

The Slaanesh Nuns were fearless. After their outer defensive line at the church was breached, they retreated into the interior buildings and continued street fighting with the Security Forces.

Creatures from Warp cannot be truly killed in the real world; because they are immortal, they are fearless.

"Damn it, bring that thing up!" The raspy-voiced Cheng Yu ordered his subordinates to bring out the secret weapon. It was actually the type of poison gas that could effectively lower the intelligence levels of creatures from Warp. It was a poison gas to demons but harmless to real-world creatures; rumor had it that its main component was argon, one of the noble gases.

"Aha! I knew no extremist organization could develop anti-demon special weapons; it turns out the Empire provided them!" A nearby Reporter Cheng Yu was quick-eyed and nimble-handed; he immediately took a photo of the fleeting gas cylinder label. After snapping the picture, he ran away wildly while drafting his report in his head.

"Catch him! Grab the film!" You might think it was the Security Forces chasing him, but no, it was his fellow reporters. They even had guns in their hands—they were preparing to seize it by force.

For a time, between the Security Forces and the Slaanesh Nuns, reporter against reporter, and even civilians and vendors taking advantage of the chaos, the Mid-Hive area of Yucai Hive City became incredibly lively and uproarious.
