97: Chapter 97 The Immortal Old Ape

Knife Cheng rolled on the ground in a sorry state, putting some distance between himself and Blade Demon Cheng Yu, while firing his pistol repeatedly in an attempt to stall her offensive.

However, Blade Demon Cheng Yu's movement technique was so bizarre it didn't seem human.

She was like a shadow without substance, twisting and turning within the narrow office. Most of the bullets Knife Cheng fired struck the walls and filing cabinets, sending countless splinters flying, but they didn't even touch the hem of her clothes.

Cheng Yu's offensive did not pause in the slightest due to the gunfire. That strangely shaped machete, carrying a shrill whistling sound as it cut through the air, pursued Knife Cheng like maggots on a bone, the glint of the blade weaving a web of death that enveloped him.

Knife Cheng could only rely on his agile movements and the office desks and chairs as cover, dodging in a wretched state. He was in constant danger; his suit was slashed open in more places, and several bloody scratches appeared on his skin.

"Deadly Living Monkey, are you just watching the show?!"

Knife Cheng yelled in anger. He was about to be sliced into a human stick, yet Deadly Living Monkey was still squatting in the corner, holding that bowl of mutton and carrot rice that had nothing left but vegetable scraps.

Just as the tip of Blade Demon Cheng Yu's blade was about to pierce into Knife Cheng's back, Deadly Living Monkey moved.

Deadly Living Monkey's movement didn't have any earth-shattering momentum; he just tossed the disposable lunch box in his hand—sauce and all—seemingly casually toward Blade Demon Cheng Yu's face.

This throw appeared unremarkable, yet it was powerful, fast as lightning, and the angle was extremely tricky. The greasy sauce and a few half-eaten carrot chunks precisely sealed off all of Cheng Yu's possible attack routes.

Cheng Yu was forced to withdraw her blade to parry. With a flash of the blade, the lunch box was neatly sliced in two, and sauce splattered everywhere.

This interference had won a precious moment of respite for Knife Cheng. He scrambled to hide behind the desk, taking cover with Abacus Cheng.

Deadly Living Monkey then stood up slowly, dusting off the sleeves of his ill-fitting suit that were stained with some oil.

His hunched back seemed to straighten a little, and from his originally cloudy old eyes, a gaze as sharp as steel suddenly erupted, locking firmly onto Blade Demon Cheng Yu.

"Little girl, you're so young, yet your killing intent is so heavy."

Blade Demon Cheng Yu looked squarely at this unremarkable, even somewhat slovenly, old man.

She could sense an extremely dangerous aura from him—it was an oppressive feeling like an ancient, primeval beast, settled after experiencing countless life-and-death battles.

Cheng Yu no longer paid attention to Knife Cheng, who was panting behind the desk, and focused all her attention on Deadly Living Monkey.

Without any wasted words, Cheng Yu's figure blurred once again. Her body followed the blade, transforming into a fierce straight line, stabbing directly at Deadly Living Monkey's throat!

The speed of this strike was several times faster than when she had attacked Knife Cheng just a moment ago!

Watching from the side, Knife Cheng's pupils constricted. He reckoned that if he were facing this strike, there would be no chance of survival.

However, Deadly Living Monkey only leaned to the side slightly, and that lightning-fast blade grazed his neck. The sharp blade aura even cut off a few of his loose, graying hairs.

While leaning, his right hand reached out like a ghost, his five fingers forming a claw, seemingly landing lightly on Cheng Yu's wrist that held the blade.

Alarm bells rang in Cheng Yu's mind. She flipped her wrist, and the blade light turned back, slashing toward Deadly Living Monkey's wrist.

Yet, she saw Deadly Living Monkey's claw-hand seem as if it had no bones. It twisted and wound along the momentum of the blade, cleverly avoiding the edge, while his fingertips, like steel nails, still aimed for her wrist pulse.

Cheng Yu was forced to change her move, shifting the blade's momentum from a hack to a bizarre arc, slashing toward Deadly Living Monkey's ribs.

Deadly Living Monkey seemed to have anticipated this long ago. His other hand, like an ape extending its arm, moved after but arrived first, accurately striking the side of the blade.

"Clang!!"

A not-so-loud metallic clashing sound rang out. Cheng Yu only felt an extremely bizarre force transmit through the blade, her entire arm going numb, and the machete almost slipped from her hand.

The two fought with speed against speed, exchanging over a dozen offensives and defenses in an instant.

Within the office, blade glints and claw shadows flew, with force energy overflowing everywhere.

The sturdy solid wood desk was easily split open by the escaping blade aura, and files flew about like snowflakes.

Deadly Living Monkey's movement technique was just like his name—agile as an ape. He twisted and turned in such a confined space; it looked dangerous, but he was always able to avoid fatal attacks in the nick of time.

His moves had no fixed form. At times, it was like the "Spirit Monkey Steals the Peach," tricky and ruthless; at other times, it was like an "Old Bear Crashes into a Tree," powerful and heavy, interpreting the word "Living" to the fullest.

Blade Demon Cheng Yu became more and more alarmed the longer she fought. Her killer fast blade, which she relied on for fame, seemed to have lost its effect in front of this old man.

The opponent was like a slippery piece of meat, or like a bottomless mire. All her killing moves were neutralized by the opponent in a way that seemed clumsy but was actually exquisite to the extreme.

What made her feel even more stifled was that the aged body odor mixed with the mutton smell that the old man emitted from time to time was stirred up during the fierce fight, forming an invisible attack that constantly assaulted her olfactory nerves, seriously affecting the coherence and precision of her moves.

Unable to win after a long attack, a fierce look flashed in Cheng Yu's eyes, and her blade technique changed again!

She no longer pursued extreme speed but focused her strength on a single point. The machete, carrying a desperate momentum of pressing forward, came crashing down toward Deadly Living Monkey's head like Mount Tai crushing the top!

This strike, a "Force Splits Mount Hua," contained all her spirit and energy!

Before the blade arrived, that fierce, unparalleled killing intent already made Knife Cheng, who was hiding behind the desk, feel his scalp tingle.

Facing this earth-shattering strike, Deadly Living Monkey revealed a look of slight seriousness for the first time.

He did not dodge again but took a deep breath, and his hunched body seemed to expand by a circle.

He stood firmly with his feet in a balanced stance, clenched his right fist, and the muscles on his arm suddenly tightened. Then, he punched upward without any fancy tricks, heading straight to meet the blade edge that was hacking down!

A dull, thunderous roar exploded within the office!

A violent wave of air swept outward with the two as the center, blowing away the remaining desks, chairs, and files. Knife Cheng and Abacus Cheng couldn't even keep their eyes open watching it.

It could be seen that the surface of Deadly Living Monkey's fist was covered with a layer of Qi, condensed to the point of being substantial, which actually forcefully withstood the sharp blade edge.

Where the fist and blade collided, sparks splattered everywhere!

The web between Cheng Yu's thumb and forefinger split open, blood streaming down. She could no longer hold the machete, and it flew from her hand, embedding itself deeply into the ceiling with a "thud."

She herself was hit as if by a heavy blow, staggering back seven or eight steps before crashing into the wall and barely stopping. A trace of blood spilled from the corner of her mouth, and the look she gave Deadly Living Monkey was filled with unbelievable horror.

"Heh heh, little girl, you do have some talent. If you practice for another ten or twenty years, you might actually be worth looking at!"

At this moment, the security force of the "Jinmen" Group had already rushed to the stairwell. The chaotic footsteps let Cheng Yu know that the situation was no longer salvageable. She threw a smoke bomb onto the ground, and her whole person disappeared into the white smoke.
