38: Chapter 38 Dare to fight me to the death?
On the frontier of the "Cheng Tianxiao" system, the crusade coalition's fleet had already closed in and was conducting probing attacks.
"The infamous Gene Tyrant, who would have thought he was such a weakling."
Alliance Leader Hermann said triumphantly, "I wonder which general is willing to serve as the vanguard and break through this tyrant's defense line for us?"
The remaining seventeen faction leaders all fell silent.
They thought to themselves, 'Is our alliance leader sick in the head? The tyrant's starships are bizarre in shape and so numerous they look like an interstellar Great Wall. Who would be crazy enough to act as the vanguard?'
"Report!" A messenger ran in and shouted, "The Gene Tyrant's flagship is approaching!"
"Huh?" "What?" "Why is he here? Are you sure it's the Tyrant himself?" Alliance Leader Hermann asked, filled with suspicion and uncertainty.
"..." The messenger was speechless. How would I know something like that?
"Your Majesty, these are today's memorials."
Aboard the "dont eat cilantro", Main Body watched the coalition forces through the massive porthole for a while, feeling very satisfied.
As expected of a fleet organized by the Sector Governor, these warships looked very valuable; it was worth his personal expedition.
"Read them to Me." Cheng Yu wanted to watch a little longer; in his heart, he had already claimed these expensive coalition warships as his own property.
"Yes!" Chamberlain Cheng Yu opened the first memorial. "Subject Iron Fist respectfully reports: currently, many small factions in the surrounding area have submitted to our Holy Dynasty. I humbly request Your Majesty's permission to open immigration channels, allowing these uncivilized peoples to bathe in the glory of Royal Civilization."
"Granted." Cheng Yu nodded. Iron Fist had been very motivated these past two days.
Chamberlain Cheng Yu marked the memorial with the red character "Approved," then opened the second one.
"Subject Gottfried reports: the mint has broken ground. I humbly request the Holy Lord's approval for us to begin organizing trade caravans to export our currency and goods to the surrounding star systems."
"Granted."
The warrior clones pushed over a large telescope so Cheng Yu could see the coalition fleet more clearly.
"Subject Concubine Aria reports..." Chamberlain Cheng Yu thought he had misread it and squinted to look again. "The fifty Aeldari court ladies requested by My Emperor have been dispatched by this concubine. Please, Your Majesty, accept them."
"Good." Cheng Yu adjusted the magnification of the telescope. "Tell her to watch her self-referential pronouns; she shouldn't use them indiscriminately."
"Yes." The Chamberlain used a vermilion brush to write on Dukaria's memorial, "Very well, but in the future, addressing yourself as 'Subject' is appropriate."
"By the way, there is one more thing." Cheng Yu's telescope focused on the coalition flagship.
"The number of outsiders in our Dynasty is increasing daily. You are to establish an office to keep a close eye on the suspicious individuals among them."
"May I ask, Your Majesty, what is the scope of this surveillance..." Chamberlain Cheng Yu's pale face flickered in the starlight.
"Everyone except for Me and Vera."
"Yes!"
After processing all the memorials, Chamberlain Cheng Yu's figure vanished into the darkness.
Due to the change in his state of mind, Chamberlain Cheng Yu's appearance and demeanor had also undergone significant changes.
He had even awakened considerable psychic powers, allowing him to perceive the fear deep within others' hearts and smell the scent of lies and deceit.
"Why trouble His Majesty with such trivial matters?" "As for who is loyal and who is treacherous, I shall have to plan carefully."
In the Imperial Palace on the Holy Cheng Yu Planet, Sophia had been lost for ages before finally finding Vera's bedchamber.
"Inquisitor, time is tight. Listen to me now, our mission is..."
"Listen here, human cook, open your eyes and look clearly. I am not human; I am Aeldari!" The new Aeldari court lady pointed to her long ears.
"...Then, may I ask where Lady Istvaan is?"
"Her Ladyship has gone on the expedition with His Majesty."
"Ah..." Sophia was stunned.
"Ah what? This news has already been published in the papers. Do you not read the news regularly?"
The Aeldari court ladies thought this cook had something wrong with her brain; they had only just arrived and had already adapted to life here.
This human must be a native, right? Why is she as dense as a complete fool?
How would Sophia know any of this? Every day, besides cooking a little, she spent her time in her bedroom praying to the Evil God, the Corpse Emperor, begging Him to grant her the power to annihilate the rebels.
Main Body adjusted the deep-space telescope to maximum magnification, and he could now clearly see the portholes of the coalition flagship.
Who would have thought that Alliance Leader Hermann on the other side was also using a telescope to look this way?
Making eye contact with Main Body, who had gathered the psychic energy of billions upon billions of clones, was an extremely powerful psychic shock for the sanctioned psyker, Hermann.
Blood instantly seeped from Hermann's right eye; the left side didn't bleed because his left eye was a mechanical prosthetic.
"You rat, how dare you injure me!" Hermann covered his right eye, his face twisted. "Who dares to go into battle!"
Everyone looked at each other, and finally, the former Chaos Warriors captain, Cassian, stepped forward. "This humble general is willing to go; my chainsword is already hungry and impatient!"
There was no helping it; Cassian didn't want to go either, but among all the lords present, his status was the most awkward.
If he didn't prove himself now, there would be no place for him in the southern Tempestus Sector in the future. If the coalition couldn't handle the Gene Tyrant, couldn't they still handle him?
"The coalition fleet's formation is changing. Stay alert."
Inquisitor von Drake, who was dozing in the command chair, suddenly opened his eyes. "Heh, could they finally not help themselves? Where is my son, Victor?!"
Fighting requires brothers; going to battle requires father and son. Victor was Inquisitor von Drake's second son.
He had just turned eighteen this year, but he stood two point four meters tall and weighed three hundred and fifty kilograms, standing there like a mountain of flesh and an iron tower.
"Father, please give the order!" Victor said in a muffled, booming voice.
"I appoint you as the vanguard. Board the enemy ship, slay their general, capture the flag, and win glory!" Inquisitor von Drake ordered. "I will cover you from the rear, so go forth and slay the enemy with peace of mind!"
"As you command!"
Both main fleets maintained great restraint. The coalition had poured out their entire nest and couldn't afford to lose these assets, while the Imperial forces were reluctant to damage those expensive warships.
Cassian's Chaos Warriors ship was surrounded by Victor's bizarre-looking warships.
The Chaos Warriors ship utilized many technologies from Warp, and the specific technical details were perhaps unknown even to the ship's owner.
When two of Victor's bizarre ships tried to fire boarding claws, they failed to latch on because the auspex could not measure the relative distance between them and the target.
"Hehehe..." Cassian stood on the deck of his Chaos Warriors ship. "Where did this greenhorn come from, daring to board a Chaos Warriors ship? Did you drop out of the Schola Progenium?"
"Wahayaya!" Victor, with his leopard-like head and round eyes, was furious. The fat on his face quivered, and his eyebrows and beard were twitching wildly. "Someone, bring me my armor!"
"Heave, ho."
More than a dozen soldiers carried two heavy crates. This was power armor custom-made for Victor, split into upper and lower parts; such massive power armor simply couldn't be molded in one piece.
"Hey, you bird-brained fool, dare you fight me to the death?!"
Victor, having put on his power armor, stood on the deck of the bizarre ship to challenge him.
"A tank can talk?" Cassian was shocked. What kind of Warp technology had the Gene Tyrant mastered?
