39: Chapter 39 A Lack of Martial Morality
"Bring me my man-piercing spear!"
Victor saw the opponent didn't answer and felt slighted.
Eighteen soldiers carried up a twisted, exotic weapon.
"What is this now?" Cassian was baffled. "Do you have to assemble the cannon on your tank on the spot?"
However, he didn't just stand there blankly. He ordered his Chaos Warriors to immediately initiate boarding operations, ensuring the opponent wouldn't bluff their way out of this.
"Raaaargh!"
Victor's leopard-like eyes widened, and he thrust his spear at a boarding Chaos Space Marine.
The Chaos Space Marine didn't dodge or evade, intending to parry the spear with his chainsword.
In his eyes, the opponent was just a larger-than-average mortal. How much strength could he possibly have? Just blocking it was giving him enough face.
Eh? Where did the enemy in front of him go?
The Chaos Space Marine saw his own headless corpse being coiled by a giant golden python.
"Oh... so he also has Warp technology. You should have said so sooner. Why didn't you..."
Every swing from Victor was heavy and powerful, though the Chaos Space Marine could barely withstand his strength.
However, Warp illusions created by that exotic weapon were formidable. A moment of distraction in battle was all it took for Victor to reap the life of a Chaos Warrior.
"No!!!"
Cassian's heart was bleeding. These Chaos Warriors were his foundation for establishing a foothold in the Tempestus Sector; every one that died was one less he could replace.
"Whose subordinate is this? He is so valiant!"
Main Body was also stunned. He hadn't realized he had such a fierce warrior among his men.
"Reporting to Your Majesty, this is the second son of Duke Drake, Victor von Drake, aged eighteen."
"This is eighteen?" Main Body's pupils shook, and even Vera, lying in his arms, felt her man's shock.
"Your Majesty, you're hurting me." Vera whined coquettishly.
"Oh, oh, my apologies, my beloved concubine." Cheng Yu set her aside. Beauties were nice, but they weren't as tempting as a fierce warrior. "After the battle, have Victor come see Me. I want to grant him an official title."
"As you command."
"Hmph!" Vera was angry, turning her body away and ignoring Cheng Yu.
"You black-hearted brute, I'll have your life!"
The former Chaos Captain Cassian went mad. He raised his chainsword and viciously sacrificed his left arm to Khorne.
It wasn't as simple as sacrificing an arm; he sacrificed the very concept of a "left arm." Henceforth, even the most skilled Archmagos of the Dark Mechanicum would be unable to attach a mechanical prosthesis to him.
"Blood for the Blood God, skulls for the Skull Throne!"
The one-armed Chaos Warrior Cassian, half his body bathed in blood, leapt onto the deck of the strange ship and began to grapple with Victor.
Seeing their commander falling into a disadvantage, the soldiers on the deck raised their Gauss weapons, ready to take a cheap shot.
"Stop! He is mine!"
Victor's fighting spirit surged, his mind invigorated. Every piece of fat on his body was trembling at this moment, and massive blood vessels pulsed like water snakes, pumping blood.
"Raaaargh!"
Cassian's chainsword couldn't cut through Victor's man-piercing weapon, and Victor's spear couldn't create illusions against a warrior blessed by Khorne.
The two exchanged blows for several rounds, unable to overcome each other.
After catching their breath, the two seemed to develop a mutual respect. They both dropped their weapons and began to wrestle.
On one side, the Chaos Warrior, with no other options, threw a punch with his single arm, killing intent fully revealed, striking straight at the heart!
On the other, the noble lad, fresh out of the gate, turned his hands into blades, his fighting spirit surging, capable of splitting stones and breaking monuments!
However, Victor was young and lacked experience. A moment of carelessness allowed the seasoned fighter Cassian to lock him in a chokehold.
The nearly three-meter-tall Chaos Captain Cassian gripped Victor's neck tightly. Barring any surprises, Victor's massive frame wouldn't be able to hold out for half a minute.
A dead end, inescapable. Cassian already wore a cruel smile.
"What? What is happening?"
Cassian suddenly felt a sharp pain in his abdomen. A man-piercing dagger had sliced open his belly, turning his two hearts and three lungs into a bloody mess.
"You... how is this possible?"
The Chaos Captain died with his eyes open. He never knew, even in death, how his enemy—whose hands were both busy gripping his single arm—had managed to produce a third hand to stab him.
"Hmm?" Main Body was also confused. He had just teleported via his clones to watch the fight up close, and he hadn't understood what had happened either.
But winning was all that mattered; it saved him from having to take a cheap shot himself.
"The enemy commander has been slain by me, Victor!"
Cassian's head was severed and paraded around the battlefield to boast of Victor's martial prowess.
His body, along with the corpses of the other Chaos Space Marines, was collected by Cheng Yu's clones. These bodies had high research value, and Slaanesh was offering a high price for them.
In the coalition camp, the atmosphere was extremely oppressive.
Although Cassian's status was low and his forces few, his combat power could not be underestimated.
His defeat undoubtedly dealt a major blow to the coalition's morale.
"Report!" A messenger ran in. "The Gene Tyrant has sent an envoy!"
"What?" Alliance Leader Hermann was surprised at first, then regained his composure. "Then show him in."
The so-called envoy was actually Main Body himself. He could achieve faster-than-light movement and immortality by constantly shifting between his clones.
As long as one clone survived, Cheng Yu's empire would not fall; because he was immortal, he was fearless.
Main Body's consciousness walked in using a clone's body. He walked with a dragon-like stride, covering a thousand miles a day... in short, he walked very arrogantly.
"Greetings, everyone. I heard you want to crusade against my master?"
Main Body made a show of cupping his hands toward the Imperial fleet.
"Insolent!" "Arrogant!!!" "Boil him!!!"
The lords cursed profusely, slamming the table as if they would rush up the next second to skin Cheng Yu alive, but in reality... not one of them dared to move.
"I did not come here to provoke you, but to save your lives. If you mistake my good intentions for Nurgle's soup, then by all means, boil me!"
"Brave man, bring wine to quench the envoy's thirst!" Alliance Leader Hermann waved his hand, and a servitor brought over an oak barrel of wine.
"Just this..." Cheng Yu had a headache when he heard it was just wine; he had been hoping for hard liquor. "I usually drink this like water."
"Envoy, don't brag." Marek, the Deputy Alliance Leader, sneered.
"Drink first, drink first. Let's talk after we finish."
The Rogue Trader Kaelus wore a fawning, treacherous smile. This barrel of wine was spiked with something potent: truth serum originally intended for interrogating prisoners.
Even if a Primarch like Leman Russ drank this dosage of truth serum, he would have to spill his darkest secrets.
