20: Killing and treasure hunting

Seven Fourth-Tier Carte Race members set up a small trap, with the bait being a Fourth-Tier material that looked like it originated from the Goblin Ruins.

With the bait as the core, the seven Carte Race members were distributed around. Once a prey entered the trap area, they would surely use their most vicious moves to take the prey's life.

Only now, the roles of prey and hunter were reversed.

The three silently marked their hunting targets on the team map. Lin Chen was assigned three, and the remaining four were equally divided between Lin Fan and Oriental Red Sleeve.

Lin Chen controlled the flying daggers, silently passing over the ruins' obstacles, and piercing the temples of three six-armed Carte, killing them instantly.

Humanoid creatures always have the head as a fatal weakness.

Lin Fan and Oriental Red Sleeve also easily dealt with the remaining four six-armed Carte using the quietest moves.

Before the bait set by the Carte Race, the three converged with the Carte Race corpses. Lin Fan consciously put the corpses into a storage device specifically for them.

Simply killing Carte Race members only earns Camp merits. Bringing the corpses back to the Camp and selling them to the Camp can earn eight million federal currency.

"Just landing, we've already earned 56 million federal currency. As expected, killing alien race is the way to make money."

"It's a pity these alien race have nothing good on them except a simple storage ring. They're indeed cannon fodder; they must have left their good stuff at home before entering the Star Gate."

Lin Chen activated the appraisal skill that came with old dengs book and appraised the seven corpses, even the items in their storage devices yielded results. Unfortunately, they were all cannon fodder and did not carry high-value treasures.

The Goblin Ruins itself also has certain exploration value. Treasures of a fallen civilization are buried in the ruins, or natural treasures nurtured by the ruins after the baptism of time.

However, the ruins environment is too complex. Unless one possesses a very precise detection device, or like Lin Chen, possesses a treasure like old dengs book, it is difficult to find treasures hidden in the ruins.

The appraisal skill of old dengs book can determine the covered range based on the amount of mental energy Lin Chen inputs.

Lin Chen input one-third of his mental energy into old dengs book, and the appraisal skill's range reached twenty kilometers in radius.

Instantly, Lin Chen memorized a three-dimensional map covering twenty kilometers. Fifty-three glowing points were distributed on this three-dimensional map, all representing Fourth-Tier items.

Lin Chen said nothing, only marking the information from the three-dimensional map onto the team map.

"Xiao Fanzai, Dongfang, these are the specific coordinates and excavation methods for all treasures within a twenty-kilometer radius. We'll split up, searching for treasures while also eliminating Carte Race ambushes."

The three were strong enough. Splitting up would maximize their gains, and within twenty kilometers, the in-team voice signal would not be lost, allowing them to regroup at any time.

Two hours later, the three met again.

Lin Chen excavated 23 treasures and killed 43 Carte Race members.

Lin Fan excavated 19 treasures and killed 55 Carte Race members.

Oriental Red Sleeve excavated 11 treasures and killed 93 Carte Race members.

All gains were consolidated and managed by Lin Fan. Lin Fan briefly calculated the profits.

There were a total of 191 Carte Race corpses, valued at 1.528 billion federal currency.

There were 53 treasures, all Fourth-Tier: 50 ordinary treasures and three rare treasures.

Ordinary treasures averaged 8 million federal currency each, while rare items had a premium of about five times, valued at approximately 500 million federal currency.

"Brother Chen, our earnings are quite good, but the distribution method can't continue to be equal. Brother Chen, you should take forty percent, and Dongfang and I will each take thirty percent."

"All the information about these treasures was provided by you, Brother Chen. We two just dug them out, our role is expendable. If we continue to split the profits equally, Dongfang and I can't accept it, and you, Brother Chen, would be at a disadvantage."

Lin Chen did not decline, accepting the forty percent share.

He indeed contributed a lot. He was a psychic, responsible for sensing enemy situations, ensuring the team would not fall into traps, and also able to detect the specific locations of treasures.

Given all this, Lin Chen taking forty percent of the profits was perfectly reasonable.

Moreover, this distribution was good for all three, preventing future conflicts over money.

Thus, the three continued to advance.

After advancing twenty kilometers, Lin Chen stopped and used the appraisal skill of old dengs book, inputting one-third of his mental energy to appraise treasures within a twenty-kilometer radius.

Following the same routine, the three split up, searching for treasures while also eliminating alien race.

This was repeated five more times until they had to abandon treasure hunting and focus solely on killing alien race due to the encirclement and pursuit by large alien race forces.

In seven hours, Lin Chen and his two companions found over 400 treasures, and the number of Fourth-Tier Carte Race corpses reached 1205, completely eliminating the alien race in one area, with profits exceeding thirteen billion.

This led to them being noticed by the large alien race forces.

Over three thousand Fourth-Tier alien race united. They formed groups of one hundred, encircling and pursuing Lin Chen and his two companions, completely disregarding their lives, attempting to keep the three by trading injuries for lives.

As soon as any group of alien race discovered Lin Chen and his two companions, they would charge forward recklessly, using their lives to delay the three's breakthrough, buying time for other teams to arrive.

The Carte Race is a militaristic race. To win, for the survival of their race, they can disregard their own lives.

The ordinary Carte Race at the bottom were completely cannon fodder. No matter how many died, it didn't matter. The upper ruling class of the Carte Race didn't care, and even ordinary Carte Race of the same tier didn't care.

"Xiao Fanzai, you can teleport with people now. The enemy is quite numerous, and their numbers are increasing. If we keep wasting time, we will inevitably be trapped."

"I can teleport with people, but we don't need to rush to leave. Our people in the surrounding area are also on their way. If we can hold out for another half an hour, then it will be us chasing them."

"I'll listen to you. We'll hold out for another half an hour. If there's still no opportunity, you take us away."

"Brother Chen, trust my judgment."

Lin Chen was not afraid of being surrounded. Even if the three were trapped in one spot, they could fight for two hours. He habitually looked for an escape route.

After confirming that Lin Fan could still teleport with people, he had no worries at all, only a strong desire to kill the Carte Race.

The three could eliminate a hundred-person Carte Race team in almost a minute, possessing heaven-defying combat power, and still have a few seconds to collect corpses.

Corpses meant money. The three fought desperately to eliminate enemies for the sake of collecting corpses and exchanging them for money. Otherwise, given their speed, they would have long since vanished.

Another fifteen minutes passed. Lin Chen and his two companions' living space was compressed. After eliminating four Carte Race hundred-person teams, their maneuvering time was delayed, and they were surrounded by five Carte Race hundred-person teams at once.

Among these five teams, there were seven or eight Carte nobles, whose combat power was relatively strong, capable of exchanging at least two blows with Lin Chen and his two companions, not the type to be instantly killed by a single strike.

"Brother Chen, the Carte Race hundred-person teams nearby have all been intercepted. We only need to face the encirclement of these five hundred Carte Race members. They have no reinforcements."

"In that case, let's show them why humanity's reputation outside is 'Demonic Fiends'!

Lin Chen and his two companions had no more worries. The Carte Race teams that had gathered in the vicinity were all intercepted by nearby human teams and student geniuses teleported from the Camp. The three could now go all out.

"Thousand Blade Slash!"

Lin Chen condensed a thousand mental flying daggers. The mental flying daggers flew out like a tornado, slicing through one Carte Race member after another. Any Carte Race member whose vital points were hit was basically killed instantly.

Lin Chen's single move alone resulted in the death of three hundred Carte Race members, and the rest were all wounded.

Of course, this move also consumed a huge amount of energy, using three-quarters of his mental energy at once, so it could only be used as a decisive ultimate move.

The remaining Carte Race members were like child's play for Lin Fan and Oriental Red Sleeve to deal with, though they still put in some effort to keep the corpses intact.

The Carte Race's plan to encircle and pursue, attempting to trade lives for human prodigies, failed. Instead, the humans turned the tables, completely annihilating the fourteen thousand Fourth-Tier Carte Race troops that had been dispatched first.

As for why Goblins did not participate in the conflict between the two sides, one must mention the Goblins' tendency to bully the weak and fear the strong.

Humans and the Carte Race were both very strong, so Goblins were naturally afraid, fearing they couldn't hide far enough, let alone daring to come and join the fun.

The Goblins who joined the fun all became cannon fodder attacking the Feng City Camp. Their ultimate fate would be to be made into feed or fertilizer, contributing to humanity's development and becoming a part of humanity.

After collecting the Carte Race corpses, Lin Chen and his two companions did not continue to kill or search for treasures. Instead, they chose to return to the Camp for rest.

Lin Chen's mental energy consumption was particularly high. He had used the appraisal skill many times, kept his mental perception on continuously, and used a powerful ultimate move at the end, leading to excessive mental energy depletion, and his recovery speed couldn't keep up.

Back at the Camp, Lin Fan consciously went to process the spoils of war, and Oriental Red Sleeve went to help. Lin Chen naturally went to rest and recover his depleted mental energy. It wasn't appropriate for him to follow the young couple on their date.
