33: Dimensional Fragments - Ruins of Gods

One day later, the Copy Body Lin Chen and his two companions traveled by spaceship to Gu City, the city closest to the Dimensional Fragment.

The newly descended Dimensional Fragment landed in the 10th Ring Area of South Continent District 9, with seven cities nearby.

The Dimensional Fragment did not appear large from the outside, only a million kilometers in area, but it contained a folded space that was a staggering one hundred million square kilometers.

It was the first time the three had left Feng City and traveled so far, making them unfamiliar with the place. Therefore, they acted cautiously, avoiding contact with others as much as possible and only doing what was within their purview.

Upon landing in Gu City, the three did not rush to explore the Dimensional Fragment. Instead, they split up to gather information about it. More information meant greater rewards and better personal safety.

Knowing yourself and your enemy is the key to a hundred victories.

Three hours later, Lin Chen and his two companions met at the agreed location to summarize and analyze the information they had gathered.

[At this time, Lin Chen is a Copy Body; this will not be specified further unless the original body's presence is necessary to distinguish between the two.]

There was a lot of information, but the three already knew the key points.

The Dimensional Fragment had been designated as Divine Ruins by the Federation.

Generally, suffixes like 'Ruins' indicate that the environment is mostly composed of ruins, without organized resistance forces, only creatures born from the ruins and the inherent dangers of the ruins themselves.

Divine Ruins was not the ruins of a divine kingdom, but rather a city of a faith-based deity cult. The reason for the cult city's demise was unknown, but it contained residual divine power, leading to the birth of many creatures tainted by it.

Divine Power Creatures are born as Tier 3, mature to Tier 4, and peak at Tier 5. Because they are tainted with divine power, their combat strength is very high, comparable to human genius-level talents of the same tier, like Zhou Heshan's strength.

When Divine Ruins descended upon Blue Star, the realm suppression within it was lifted, allowing many Tier 5 Divine Power Creatures to break through their limits and become Tier 6 creatures.

The final key point was that killing Divine Power Creatures could yield Divine Power Crystals, and exploring the city ruins could yield treasures of varying grades or materialized Divine Power Crystals.

Divine Power Crystals are energy crystals tainted with divine power, with grades ranging from Tier 3 to Demigod-tier.

A Tier 3 Divine Power Crystal is worth 20 million federal currency, Tier 4 is 100 million federal currency, Tier 5 is 500 million federal currency, and Tier 6 is 3 billion federal currency.

To obtain Divine Power Crystals, one can only explore city ruins and kill Divine Power Creatures. Divine Power Creatures mostly live in groups, with numbers ranging from hundreds to tens of thousands.

Divine Power Creatures capable of living as lone wolves are at least late Tier 5, with most reaching Tier 6.

By comparing the data, the three basically determined that the threat from Divine Ruins was not high for them. Except for unforeseen circumstances, Divine Power Creatures posed little threat and could be hunted.

As long as the three did not seek death by unsealing the core seal in the city ruins and releasing the unknown entity within, they could move freely in Divine Ruins.

However, once the three confirmed the presence of an unknown entity in the central area of the city ruins, it was only a matter of time before it broke free.

If they didn't seek death, someone else surely would.

The three were just one of countless exploration teams heading to Divine Ruins. There were many other teams like theirs.

There might even be people like children of destiny, chosen ones, unlucky individuals, or event catalysts among them.

An accident is an accident precisely because it is completely unpredictable; plans are often outpaced by changes.

Divine Ruins was not far from Gu City, only seven hundred kilometers.

The three chose to travel to Divine Ruins by spaceship.

An hour and a half later, the spaceship landed, and the three arrived at the temporary Camp to register as adventurers and input their information.

This was very necessary, as the wristbands issued by the Camp had positioning and certain life detection functions.

If the three died, the Camp would receive the news and relay it to Feng City, informing their families of their demise.

Of course, no one thought they would die, but they all diligently wore their wristbands, just in case. Accidents were the main theme of this era.

“Brother Chen, let’s enter the Dimensional Fragment first, then go through a random teleportation gate into Divine Ruins. The area outside Divine Ruins has no exploration value.”

“Xiao Fanzi, you lead the way. You have a sense for space, so you might be able to sense the opening location of a random teleportation gate in advance.”

“Brother Chen, leave it to me.”

Three months had passed, and Oriental Red Sleeve's presence became increasingly faint. Even Lin Chen and Lin Fan were affected in their perception of her. If not for their extreme familiarity and a mental marker, the two would instinctively ignore her existence, thinking this adventure was only for the two of them.

And when Oriental Red Sleeve made such decisions, she generally did not voice her opinions, following the decisions of the other two. Anyway, she didn't have to use her brain; she just had to follow blindly. Lin Fan had already spoiled her into a silly girl.

Lin Fan had some good luck on his side. Less than five minutes after entering the Dimensional Fragment, a random teleportation gate opened fresh and clear before the three of them.

The three passed through the random teleportation gate and successfully entered Divine Ruins.

Divine Ruins was a square continent with sides of ten thousand kilometers. Its geography consisted of eastern mountains, southern grasslands, western jungles, northern deserts, and a central cult city ruin covering an area of three hundred kilometers in diameter.

The three landed in the Desert Area. According to the map coordinates, they were still two thousand kilometers from Ruins City, located deep in the desert, surrounded by a large number of sand-element Divine Power Creatures.

Even before entering Divine Ruins, the three had discussed this situation. If they landed in one of the four cardinal areas, they would hunt Divine Power Creatures to obtain Divine Power Crystals. If they landed in Ruins City, they would search the ruins for treasures.

Their goal was clear: to make money, money, and more money.

Everything else was unimportant; only Divine Power Crystals and treasures that could be exchanged for money were paramount.

As for the inheritances that might be contained within Ruins City, they didn't care. All three had inheritances already and didn't need to seek new ones, avoiding putting the cart before the horse.

Slaughter would always be the main theme of exploration.

Tier 3, 4, and 5 Divine Power Creatures, whether solitary or in groups, were no match for Lin Chen and his two companions. As soon as they appeared, they would inevitably turn into Divine Power Crystals, becoming the spoils of the three.

The Desert Area had an area of over twenty million square kilometers, inhabited by a large number of Divine Power Creatures. These Divine Power Creatures were not large in size, much like wild animals on Earth.

Limited by the amount of divine power, Divine Power Creatures could not obtain more divine power, so they naturally did not take the giant-sized route of divine power, only the small and refined group route.

This, in turn, facilitated Lin Chen's hunting. The time and energy required to hunt small prey versus large prey were entirely different.

Small prey died with one strike, while large prey required many strikes to die. Since the output was the same for both, hunting small prey was naturally more cost-effective, and the saved time and physical strength could lead to more output.

The Desert Area was relatively barren, but the density of Divine Power Creatures was still very high.

In just half a day, Lin Fan had secured 502 Tier 3, 106 Tier 4, and 7 Tier 5 Divine Power Crystals, with a total value of approximately 24.14 billion federal currency.

Although the income was not as high as that from the mine cave, the mine income was not reproducible and was a special case. The current situation represented the three's normal earnings.

“Help, two young brothers, help! I am willing to offer 10 Tier 4 Divine Power Crystals as a reward.”

The calm hunting trip was finally broken by an unexpected event.

Having just finished hunting a sand rat colony, Lin Chen and his two companions all sensed something and looked towards a distant dune.

On the dune appeared a Tier 5 martial artist covered in blood. Behind him, beneath the sand, was a series of wriggling trails, clearly indicating that many Divine Power Creatures were chasing him.

“Fifteen Tier 5 sand worms, the longest one is fifty meters, the smallest is thirty-two meters. We can hunt them; 15 Tier 5 Divine Power Crystals are worth the effort.”

“Dongfang, you keep an eye on that Tier 5 martial artist in case he’s fishing. Brother Chen and I will deal with the sand worms.”

“You two go, I'll keep watch.”

Within ten seconds, the three decided to act.

The 15 Tier 5 sand worms were dealt with by Lin Chen and Lin Fan working together within a minute, turning into Tier 5 Divine Power Crystals that fell onto the sand.

Lin Chen confronted the blood-soaked Tier 5 martial artist, while Lin Fan collected the spoils and meticulously surveyed the situation within thirty kilometers to ensure it wasn't a trap.

“Thank you, two young brothers, for saving my life, Old Wang. Here are twenty Tier 4 Divine Power Crystals. Please, you must accept this reward, or my heart will not be at ease.”

“Uncle, it was just a small favor, and there’s a reward to be had.”

Lin Chen accepted the 20 Tier 4 Divine Power Crystals. Nothing happened during this time, and neither party conversed much. After Old Wang delivered the reward, he immediately departed. Only when he disappeared from the three’s perception did they confirm that this was just an accident and not a trap.

“Unexpected gain, a total profit of 9.5 billion federal currency, quite good.”

This was just a minor interlude and did not affect the three's hunting plan.

One Divine Power Creature after another died by their hands, and the crisp sound of Divine Power Crystals falling into their backpacks spurred on the three's hunting enthusiasm.

Money was what the three desired.
