84: The Flower Sea team attacks, the clones are meant to die

Before returning to the squad, Zhao Shijie took Lin Chen to meet Commander Beichen, the commander of the 001 Assault Legion.

Commander Beichen was a Daoist title; he was an old Sixth Order God Ascension Realm Expert who had served as commander since the 001 Assault Legion was established. At that time, Commander Beichen was already a Sixth Order God Ascension Realm Expert, and even after several millennia, his cultivation remained at the Sixth Order God Ascension Realm.

Anyone who believed that cultivation was a fool.

Lin Chen and Commander Commander Beichen didn't have much to talk about; it was more of a formality, a way to get acquainted. Commander Beichen knew he had such a soldier under his command, and Lin Chen knew he had such a superior.

The 001 Assault Legion typically carried out missions with small teams as the basic unit, rarely engaging in full-legion missions.

Currently, there were 200 squads, each with 10 to 20 members, and they had developed their own combat styles.

Each squad was directly commanded by Commander Commander Beichen, while the other seven God Ascension Realm Experts served as support, responsible for leading teams on high-difficulty missions. On normal days, they did not interfere, focusing solely on cultivation.

The higher the cultivation of a martial artist, the less they liked to manage affairs.

Any time spent on management was better spent on cultivation, striving for a higher realm.

Including Lin Chen, the Huahai Squad had 13 members.

Captain Zhao Shijie, early Demigod cultivation, Corporal, military rank of Squad Leader. (Having served for one year, he was a Corporal Squad Leader)

Vice-Captain Du Ziteng, early Demigod cultivation, Corporal, military rank of Squad Leader.

Aside from the two Demigod Squad Leaders, the other 11 members, including Lin Chen, were all at the mid-to-late Tenth Order cultivation.

Team members Wan Xue, Beiming Yu, Wang Kong, and Kong Yang were all at the late Tenth Order cultivation, ranked as Private First Class.

Team members Li Chenggong, Xie Huang, Xiao Yu, Xiao Shan, Tang Ling'er, and Ye Qing were all at the mid-Tenth Order cultivation, ranked as Private.

Lin Chen had just entered the military sequence, so he was only a Recruit.

The military ranks in the entire military department were similar to those in Lin Chen's previous life.

There was no difference in soldier ranks, but there were two paths to becoming an officer: the technical route and the military merit route.

Technical officers needed to pass technical assessments and supplement their promotions with military merits. Their prospects were broad, and they could hold any position.

Military merit officers were promoted based on military merits and could not hold technical positions, to avoid laymen commanding experts.

Lin Chen temporarily had no intention of deeply cultivating in the military, so he would only dabble. During his two-year service, he did not expect to rise many ranks; stability was enough.

The members of the Huahai Squad were very welcoming of Lin Chen's addition; there were no members who showed him a cold face or gave him attitude.

In the entire squad, apart from Lin Chen, everyone else was an older brother or sister in their thirties. Except for the two captains who barely reached 30 before advancing to Demigod, the others were suffering through bottlenecks, seeking opportunities for breakthrough.

Now, with the addition of Lin Chen, a 22-year-old late Tenth Order genius, they were overjoyed.

They could also benefit from the immense luck on the genius. In two years, it was possible that Lin Chen's arrival could allow all of them to break through to the Demigod realm.

So, without going as far as flattering Lin Chen, showing him a friendly face and acting like caring older brothers and sisters was certainly acceptable.

Between people, it's about mutual respect.

A good attitude often yields more benefits than a bad one.

After the squad dinner, the usual routine was to send out clones for group dungeons to understand each other. Based on Lin Chen's and the other squad members' situations, new tactical combinations would be devised.

This dungeon training lasted for five days.

Within five days, the team's coordination was almost perfected. Lin Chen also integrated into the Huahai Squad's system, and five sets of tactical plans centered around him were pre-established.

Basically, when there were no missions, aside from cultivation, it was all about refining team coordination. With each member as the core, tactical plans for various situations were pre-established to prevent chaos when needed.

“Everyone, our squad needs to go on a mission.”

“The mission details have been projected onto the public screen. Please familiarize yourselves with them first, then formulate a tactical plan to ensure a perfect completion of the mission.”

In the squad's meeting room, all 13 main bodies and clones of the Huahai Squad were present. Forty to fifty people crowded into the meeting room, yet it wasn't cramped at all.

Everyone looked at the mission on the public screen, pondering how to complete it.

Squad Mission: Destroy One-Eyed Giant Race's No. 7 Supply Warehouse

Difficulty: Medium

Mission Description: The One-Eyed Giant Fifth Legion has established a logistics supply warehouse at coordinates [planet], storing one-third of the food reserves for the Fifth Legion's 500 million people. Guarding forces include one Fourth Order God Ascension Realm Expert, five First Order God Ascension Realm Experts, three hundred Demigods, and a elite legion below Demigod with 100,000 soldiers.

Mission Requirement: Completely destroy the No. 7 Supply Warehouse. Type 3 Contamination Bombs can be used to quickly meet the destruction standard.

Mission Extension: No. 9 Warehouse and No. 12 Warehouse are also food supply warehouses and can be destroyed as circumstances permit. (Not mandatory)

Such behind-enemy-lines missions had to be carried out by the assault legion's clone suicide squads; otherwise, even if the mission was completed, there would be no chance of withdrawal.

The mission difficulty was truly not high; Lin Chen alone could execute it. Once he landed, he would activate Spiritual Stealth, deploy a circle of Type 3 Contamination Bombs, and all food supplies in the warehouse would turn into Decay matter, losing their value.

War was fought on logistics. If logistics were cut off, even the most powerful front lines would panic.

When war broke out, the demand for food was enormous.

Even God Ascension Realm Experts needed corresponding quality food to maintain their state. Purely relying on absorbing cosmic energy to maintain their state was not only slow but also easily exploited by enemies, leading to defeat in battle.

The One-Eyed Giant Race had large physiques and immense strength, but also high resource consumption.

Therefore, compared to the Human Race, the One-Eyed Giant Race needed food supplies even more, otherwise, after a battle, the surviving warriors would require more time to recover their state.

After a discussion, everyone came up with a plan.

Step one of the plan: All clones of the Huahai Squad would use the smuggling channel to go to the enemy's rear area.

Step two: Lin Chen would activate Spiritual Stealth upon landing, arrive at Warehouse No. 7, and infiltrate the planet to place Type 3 Contamination Bombs.

Step three: Lin Chen would detonate the Type 3 Contamination Bombs and then retreat.

Step four: As Lin Chen retreated, the other members of the Huahai Squad would ambush Warehouse No. 9, assault the No. 9 food warehouse, and attract the attention of the surrounding guards, creating an opportunity for Lin Chen while also seeing if there was a way to destroy Warehouse No. 9.

Step five: Lin Chen would stealthily enter the No. 12 food warehouse and again use Type 3 Contamination Bombs to destroy the food stored within, completely crippling the logistics of the One-Eyed Giant Fifth Legion.

Step six: Fight independently until death.

Completing the mission was not difficult; the challenge was how to expand the results on the basis of completing the mission and further destroy the enemy's logistical capabilities.

Every time they went on a mission, expanding the results on the basis of completing the mission was the problem they needed to consider.

A single mission offered only so much reward. Achieving more strategic objectives on top of the mission was the quick way to earn military merits.

With the combat plan confirmed, all 42 clones of the Huahai Squad, fully armed, boarded a small warship and began to execute this mission.

The so-called smuggling channel was merely battlefield debris blasted out by giant cannons from massive warships on the front lines. This battlefield debris was a ruin formed by the shattering of dozens to hundreds of war planets.

The ruin area was harsh and fraught with danger.

Both the Human Race and the One-Eyed Giant Race could pass through. You smuggle into my rear, I smuggle into your rear. It was a back-and-forth, depending on whose monitoring and resistance capabilities were superior.

The smuggling process went smoothly, taking only three hours to cross the battlefield debris, evade the One-Eyed Giant Race's detection, bypass the front line, and enter the enemy's rear area.

“Be careful on your way. After setting up the Type 3 Contamination Bombs and reaching Warehouse No. 12, send us a message.”

“Captain, mission accomplished, guaranteed.”

Lin Chen's four clones left the small warship, activated Spiritual Stealth, and teleported towards the enemy's No. 7 warehouse location. Each teleportation covered tens of billions of kilometers, estimated to take three hours to reach the No. 7 warehouse.

The other members of the Huahai Squad flew towards the more distant No. 9 warehouse, needing to avoid various detections along the way, as the No. 9 warehouse was located very deep, making its destruction highly difficult.

Three hours later, Lin Chen arrived outside the planet where Warehouse No. 7 was located.

He first covered himself with a meteorite shell, disguised as a meteorite crashing into the planet's atmosphere. Subsequently, the meteorite shell was shattered by the planetary defense measures guarding the warehouse.

The attack that shattered the meteorite had no effect on Lin Chen, but instead obscured the fluctuations of Lin Chen entering the planet's interior.

After landing, Lin Chen, with Spiritual Stealth active, cautiously arrived at the outer perimeter of the main warehouse.

The Type 3 Contamination Bomb had a range covering an entire planet. Even if it were simply thrown onto the planet, it could destroy the food in the warehouse, though it would take a few seconds to take effect.

To prevent the One-Eyed Giant Race's God Ascension Realm Expert from forcibly pulling the warehouse into deep space during those few seconds, the Type 3 Contamination Bomb had to be placed close to, or even inside, the warehouse.

So Lin Chen did not act rashly, carefully observing Warehouse No. 7, preparing to wait for an opportunity.

He didn't have to wait long. A One-Eyed Giant Race spaceship arriving to pick up supplies landed on the planet, and the warehouse was about to be opened.

“Heaven helps me!”
