49: Chapter 49 The Queen's Possessiveness

The curtains in the villa weren't drawn tight, and a beam of light cut in at an angle, landing right on the edge of the bed.

Xu Qingya was lying on Jiang Fan's chest, sleeping soundly.

Jiang Fan had his right hand behind his head, his left hand resting on her bare back, staring at the ceiling for a long time.

The system panel floated quietly on the right side of his field of vision.

[Total Lifespan Value obtained: 4,000 points] (Deep Compatibility × 4)

[Current Lifespan Value: 17,600 points]

[Remaining lifespan: 5 days and 8 hours]

He did the conversion in his mind: spending 3,000 points to exchange for thirty days of lifespan.

[Current Lifespan Value: 14,600 points]

[Remaining lifespan: 35 days and 8 hours]

Thirty-five days. Much more generous than when he had just transmigrated.

Xu Qingya stirred, rubbing her face against the base of his neck.

Jiang Fan looked down at her.

The diva's brows were relaxed, her lips slightly pouted, looking like a little girl who didn't want to get out of bed.

Only the faint red marks above her collarbone reminded him of what had happened last night.

Xu Qingya's eyelashes fluttered, and she opened her eyes.

She tilted her head back, her gaze meeting Jiang Fan's.

"Are you awake?" Jiang Fan's voice was a bit hoarse.

Xu Qingya didn't speak; she extended one arm, turning it over to look at it.

Her skin was glowing white; she couldn't find a single pore on the back of her hand.

Every time she spent the night with this man, her body would undergo changes that defied medical common sense.

Xu Qingya propped up her upper body, the quilt sliding down from her shoulders.

"Why are you awake so early?"

"Calculating accounts."

"What accounts?"

"Calculating how much longer I can live."

Xu Qingya thought he was joking and glared at him.

"Yesterday, Su Yuyan, what conditions did she offer you?"

"A full contract with Times Media, plus a verbal promise of a Golden Melody Awards grand slam."

"You refused?"

"Refused."

"Before you refused? Or after you refused?"

Jiang Fan paused.

"What before or after?"

Xu Qingya tilted her head to look at him, the meaning in her eyes needing no translation.

Jiang Fan didn't respond.

Xu Qingya withdrew her gaze: "Next time, don't let me smell another woman on you."

This woman's sense of smell was sharper than a police dog's.

Last night, after leaving Su Yuyan's suite, he had specifically returned to the hotel to change his clothes and shower.

The scent of rose perfume on his shirt should have faded long ago.

Xu Qingya threw off the quilt, stepped barefoot onto the floor, and walked into the bathroom with her long legs.

With a "bang," she closed the door.

The sound of water began to splash.

Jiang Fan rubbed his nose.

It was a pity that the system hadn't developed a skill to deal with a woman's sixth sense.

He threw off the quilt, got out of bed, put on his clothes, and walked to the kitchen.

There were eggs and milk in the fridge, so he simply made two portions of breakfast.

Forty minutes later, the bathroom door pushed open.

Xu Qingya walked out wearing a white bathrobe, her hair draped wet over her shoulders.

She glanced at the breakfast laid out on the dining table, walked straight to the vanity, sat down, and picked up a towel to dry her hair.

Jiang Fan walked over, took the towel, and stood behind her to help her dry it.

Xu Qingya looked at Jiang Fan in the mirror; he was more than half a head taller than her, his palms wrapped in the towel as he stroked from the top of her hair to the ends, his movements gentle.

"Has the address for Fanyin Culture Studio been decided yet?" Xu Qingya asked, looking at Jiang Fan in the mirror.

"I'll use a short-term rental office for now."

"There are three floors of office space empty downstairs from Tianyu Entertainment. Why don't you just move there?"

Jiang Fan didn't stop his movements.

"No need. Fanyin Culture Studio needs to operate independently."

Xu Qingya turned her head, staring into his eyes.

"Are you afraid people will say you rely on a woman?"

"I am relying on you to extend my life, after all." Jiang Fan met her gaze frankly.

Xu Qingya was taken aback for a moment.

She turned back around, the corners of her mouth curling up slightly.

"I suppose you have a conscience."

They ate breakfast in silence; Xu Qingya took a sip of milk and set down her glass.

"How is Shen Nian's lawsuit going?"

"Li Cheng is coordinating with the lawyers. Hua Xingyu's songs have been taken down from all platforms, so the chances of winning the copyright case are high."

"Shenghai Entertainment won't just let it go. Cao Qiming is the type of person who will definitely bite back if a piece of meat is bitten off him."

"He's currently too busy to worry about anyone else." Jiang Fan popped the last bite of toast into his mouth. "Liu Qingyang's tax issues are enough to keep him quiet for a few months."

Xu Qingya didn't ask any more questions.

After finishing breakfast, she took the plates to the sink, and when she returned, she saw that Jiang Fan had already stood up and was adjusting his cuffs.

"I should go."

"Do you have plans today?"

"Yeah, going to the Studio."

Jiang Fan turned and walked out.

Xu Qingya's voice came from behind him.

"Jiang Fan." Xu Qingya called out to him.

Jiang Fan stopped.

"Su Yuyan's song, you are not allowed to write it for her."

The tone wasn't heavy, but there was no room for negotiation.

"Fine."

Jiang Fan opened the door and walked out.

Xu Qingya stood there, looking at the empty doorway, and didn't move for a long time.

She walked back to the vanity, sat down, changed her clothes, and picked up the foundation.

Her hand paused in mid-air.

The face in the mirror didn't need any foundation at all.

Her pores had disappeared, her laugh lines had disappeared, and her skin was so translucent it looked lit from within, cleaner even than her promotional photos from the year she debuted at eighteen.

Xu Qingya placed the foundation back on the table.

"My skin is good again."

This man hid too many things she couldn't explain.

He could cure her insomnia, write songs that crushed the entire music scene, and make her skin state defy aging.

An orphan who grew up in a Orphanage, a night shift security guard with a salary of 3,200 a month.

Every word on his resume was written with "ordinary."

But everything this person did pointed to the same conclusion—he was not ordinary.

But Xu Qingya didn't intend to get to the bottom of it.

She knew better that once some answers were revealed, the relationship between the two of them might not be sustainable.

So she chose not to ask.

She wanted to tie this person tightly to her side.

Her phone vibrated.

A message from Manager Chen.

"Qingya, Chen Weiyang has been officially released from his contract by Tianyu Entertainment. Also, the master tape for 'Red Bean' on your new album has been sent for recording; it is expected to be released next week. There's one more thing—"

Xu Qingya continued to scroll down.

"Su Yuyan from Times Media reposted a performance clip of Jiang Fan's 'nocturne' on her personal social media this morning. The caption was only two words: 'Stunning'."

Xu Qingya's thumb hovered above the screen for three seconds.

She exited the chat box and opened Su Yuyan's Weibo profile.

There were already twenty thousand comments under that post.

The top-liked comment read: "Is Sister Yuyan interested in Jiang Fan? I'm shipping it, I'm shipping it!"

Xu Qingya placed her phone screen-down on the table.

She stood up, walked to the walk-in closet, and pulled open the innermost row of cabinet doors.

Hanging inside was a folded men's security guard uniform.

It was the one Jiang Fan had worn when he left Tianyu Entertainment, which she had asked Yang Lele to retrieve from the security department.

Xu Qingya's fingers traced the tear on the cuff.

Fanyin Culture Studio.

Li Cheng spread three offers out on the table; looking at the numbers alone, they were already top-tier treatment for an A-list singer.

"An 80/20 split, copyright ownership belongs to Fanyin, with exclusive distribution rights for three years. We've broken through the bottom lines of all three companies."

Li Cheng rubbed his hands, his voice uncontrollably fluttering.

He had been in the industry for over a decade and had managed superstars, but he had never seen a newly debuted rookie force the three major platforms to raise prices simultaneously.

"Also, Manager Zhang Lei from Tencent Music just sent a message saying that if we sign today, the advance payment can be increased to fifteen million."

Jiang Fan leaned back in his swivel chair, his knuckles tapping on the desk.

"Then sign with Tencent Music. After all, they have the widest reach."
