172: Chapter 172: He's good at making up stories!
"Anti-vice squad, open the door!"
Qin Xun pounded on the door until it thundered.
A muffled voice came from inside.
"Get lost!"
Qin Xun stepped back and kicked out.
"I'm her husband!"
"A honey trap!"
"Open the door!"
Hearing "I'm her husband," Xia Ning suddenly turned her head to look at Qin Xun. Seeing he was about to kick again, she reached out to pull him back, signaling him to stand aside.
Qin Xun walked to the side, looking at Xia Ning with a puzzled expression.
Xia Ning slightly lifted her right foot and knocked it against the floor, snapping off the heel of her high heel.
She repeated the motion, snapping off the heel of the left shoe.
She stepped back and shouted fiercely, "Hey!"
She suddenly raised her right foot and delivered a front kick.
The door made a "click" sound, as if the lock had shattered.
Qin Xun was startled to see the door kicked open, leaving a gap as wide as a palm.
Xia Ning clapped her hands nonchalantly.
"This is called a front kick."
"I was the champion of the children's group at the 7th Haicheng Taekwondo Competition."
Qin Xun: "..."
He spat out, "Awesome."
Immediately after, he kicked the door open and shouted, "Fuck you!"
The door flew open!
Qin Xun strode inside.
Xia Ning followed closely behind.
As soon as they entered, an angry shout from a middle-aged man rang out.
"Who are you people?"
"Get out! Do you know who I am?"
"If you offend me, Mr. Song, I'll make sure you can't survive in Haicheng!"
Qin Xun looked towards the sound.
He saw a frosted glass bathroom partition, and in a large bathtub, the faint silhouette of a naked fat man was visible.
He breathed a sigh of relief; fortunately, it was just one figure. They weren't taking a bath together.
Through the frosted glass, Qin Xun couldn't see the man's face and said coldly, "I don't care who you are, but if you don't shut up, I will break into the bathroom and use my fists to tell you who I am!"
The bathroom immediately fell silent.
Qin Xun walked forward a few steps and saw a large pink heart-shaped bed.
Mi Xier was leaning against the headboard, covered by a quilt, with only her head exposed, turning her head away to avoid looking at the two people at the door.
Qin Xun said, "Lei Zhaodi, we're going home to eat!"
Mi Xier slowly turned her head, tears filling her eyes.
"You guys go!"
"Don't ruin my... good thing."
A gentle smile appeared on Qin Xun's face.
"Your arm is injured, I'll stew snakehead fish soup for you."
A look of pain flashed across Mi Xier's face.
"Mr. Qin, we are total strangers, why must you interfere in my life?"
Qin Xun smiled. "Didn't I prepare a gift for you?"
"A very beautiful song."
Mi Xier covered her face with both hands, wiped away her tears, and kicked off the quilt in anger, revealing her whole body.
Her clothes were intact. A simple white dress.
Qin Xun breathed a sigh of relief; they had arrived just in time, she hadn't even taken off her socks yet.
He walked to the bedside and reached out to Mi Xier. "Let's go!"
"We're going home!"
Mi Xier punched the quilt in anger. "If you don't leave, I won't have a home anymore!"
Xia Ning stood at the door, closed it, and leaned her back against it.
Hearing Mi Xier say this, she wanted to offer to lend her 500,000, but fearing it might upset her, she remained silent.
Qin Xun looked at Mi Xier silently, knowing she was stuck in a dead end, refusing to accept charity money even if it killed her.
Whatever he said now, she wouldn't listen.
A flash of inspiration struck Qin Xun. Remembering that it was romance novels that had accompanied her through difficult times, he prepared to make up a story that was half-true and half-false.
Looking at Mi Xier, he said in a calm voice, "Lei Zhaodi, I once had a deskmate, a girl."
"She had excellent grades and was a straight-A student for nine consecutive years since she was a child."
"We were very close, and she invited me to her home once."
"It was an unbelievably beautiful place, like the Peach Blossom Spring described by Tao Yuanming."
Mi Xier stopped crying and stared blankly at Qin Xun.
Qin Xun's voice was as calm as water.
"In the third year of middle school, before graduation, I stopped seeing her at school."
"later, I heard people talk about it."
"She wasn't very lucky. At 13, to support her five younger sisters, she began to make a living everywhere, begging on the streets, asking for money, begging for food."
"Picking up bottles and cardboard. As she grew a little older, she probably went to restaurants and illegal factories to do some off-the-books work."
"I often wonder, those years, she must have had a very hard time!"
Mi Xier's eyes softened slightly, and she almost shed tears again. She quickly blinked, forcing the tears back.
Qin Xun continued, "When I was eighteen, I saw her once in the small town. I was too shy to say hello, so we just quietly brushed past each other."
"She was too beautiful, she was really very beautiful."
"I cannot imagine how much harassment a girl as beautiful as her would encounter in this shitty society."
"Fortunately, she took good care of herself."
"That day, the sky over the small town was very blue, and the sunshine was very nice."
"The pink hair clip on her head was very beautiful. It fell on the ground, and I picked it up. I didn't return it to her."
"Because back when we were in school, she never returned the half-eraser she owed me."
Mi Xier's eyes became a little softer, as if she had been drawn into the scene Qin Xun was describing.
Looking into Mi Xier's eyes, Qin Xun said softly, "There was a vicious school beauty, a girl named Xia, who once described her like this: 'Rising from the mud without being stained, washed by clear ripples without being seductive.'"
Xia Ning leaned against the door panel, looking at Qin Xun, frowning slightly.
She wasn't very happy about playing the villain. Besides, she had used that sentence to mock Mi Xier that day.
Mi Xier lowered her head and gave a light laugh. It was unclear what it meant.
Qin Xun laughed along and continued, "If it were me, I probably would have used my body to trade for piles of money, bought a big house, and bought a big car long ago."
"But she never did."
"Her character is more noble than anyone else's."
"Who has the qualifications to look down on her?"
Mi Xier slowly raised her head, looking at Qin Xun as if she wanted to say something but hesitated.
"I once peeked at her notes and knew she wanted to be a teacher."
His voice was gentle as he continued.
"But her academic qualifications aren't enough now, it seems she can't be a teacher."
"But she has raised every one of her sisters well!"
"She is already a good teacher."
"And in the future, she will probably be a good wife!"
Xia Ning watched Qin Xun, listening intently.
Whenever he was serious, he was always so good at telling stories.
This story was a bit sorrowful and beautiful; she was even a little jealous of the heroine in the story.
Mi Xier looked at Qin Xun, tears overflowing from the corners of her eyes.
"Stop talking, don't say anymore, please don't say anymore."
She lowered her head and covered her ears with both hands.
"I'm not listening, I'm not listening."
Qin Xun stopped talking. Swaying slightly, he began to sing softly.
"Will you wonder tomorrow"
"About the diary you wrote yesterday"
"Will you still remember tomorrow"
"The you who used to cry the most"
"The teachers can no longer recall"
"The you who couldn't guess the answer"
"It was only when I accidentally flipped through photos"
"That I remembered my deskmate"
Mi Xier raised her head, staring wide-eyed at Qin Xun, and let go of her hands.
Her scalp felt slightly numb, like the feeling of resting one's head on the grass and having the tips of the grass brush against it.
This song moved her more than all the romance novels she had ever read. It was the pure love she had always pursued.
Qin Xun continued to hum.
"Who married the sentimental you"
"Who read your diary"
"Who put up your long hair"
"Who made your wedding dress"
"You were always very careful in the past"
"Asking to borrow half an eraser from me"
"You also once mentioned inadvertently"
"That you liked being with me"
"Back then the sky was always very blue"
"The days always passed too slowly"
"..."
Mi Xier covered her face and wept bitterly, her heart breaking.
