90: Chapter 90 Red Dragonfish, may my company live as long as you.
Outside the window, the moonlight was hazy.
Xia Ning was wearing a silky nightgown, sitting in the living room and zoning out.
Suddenly, a faint sound of water startled her. She turned her head and saw that it came from against the wall directly opposite the living room.
A three-meter-long fish tank stood there, and inside, a blood-red Red Arowana about 30 centimeters long was swimming leisurely.
This was a feng shui fish her father had given her as an opening gift for Oak Company, reportedly costing nearly two hundred thousand.
They said it could gather wealth.
Xia Ning thought about how the company's situation had been excellent lately, so she stood up, walked over to the fish tank, and watched it swim back and forth in silence.
It seemed this little thing was actually somewhat useful?
She remembered her father saying that if taken care of properly, a Red Arowana could live for nearly 20 years.
She smiled lightly.
She hoped Oak Company could also last that long!
Suddenly, her phone rang.
Xia Ning picked up her phone and saw it was a video call from her father.
Every week, her father would call at least twice via video. She would answer every time, but she didn't say much.
Xia Ning answered the video call, and her father's warm smile appeared on the screen.
If the employees under Xia Shujie saw this, they would definitely be shocked, never imagining that their chairman, who was always dignified and imposing, could have such a gentle side.
Xia Shujie's voice was also gentle. "Ningning, have you had dinner yet?"
She nodded. "I'm about to eat!"
On the phone, Xia Shujie frowned slightly, sounding a bit reproachful. "Why are you eating so late again? Don't just focus on work; you need to eat on time. Your stomach has never been very good."
Xia Ning nodded lightly. "I know!"
Suddenly, Xia Shujie seemed to spot the Red Arowana on camera. "Ningning, do you like this Red Arowana?"
Xia Ning: "I do."
Xia Shujie's voice carried a smile. "I had someone buy this fish from abroad. A feng shui master said that keeping it at home can store wind and gather water, which can attract wealth."
Suddenly, Xia Shujie's voice grew a little louder. "This fish doesn't look very energetic. Is the water temperature in the tank wrong?"
Xia Ning leaned her face closer to the fish tank, seeing the Red Arowana swimming around, but she couldn't see anything unusual. "I think it's fine."
Xia Shujie laughed. "Do you even know how to keep fish?"
Xia Ning: "……" She fell silent.
In truth, she had never taken care of this fish; it was always the nanny who looked after it. However, the nanny had asked for leave today to take care of her feverish daughter, which was why she hadn't eaten at home.
Xia Shujie laughed. "Lower the water temperature in the tank by one degree. I'll check again in a while; don't let you ruin it."
Xia Ning walked to the side of the fish tank, found the temperature control button, and adjusted it. Her face remained expressionless throughout.
Suddenly, Xia Shujie sighed. "Alright, alright! Honestly, it's not easy to get you on a call, and you're giving me a sour face again."
"In a few days, Dudu Tea will send people to talk to your company about brand upgrading." He emphasized his tone. "You must spend this 10 million wisely; don't waste it on nonsense." He seemed to be implying something.
Xia Ning tilted her head toward the phone and smiled. "Dad is the best!" Then, she added, "I want to start discussing this business tomorrow."
Xia Shujie frowned. "Are you the client, or am I the client? I gave you the money, so surely I should be the one to set the time?"
Xia Ning smiled lightly. "Dad, giving this 10 million to Oak Company is the same as giving it to me, isn't it? It's still within our family."
Xia Shujie was stunned, somewhat surprised. He stared at his daughter on the screen, looking suspicious. "Who did you learn this crooked logic from? If I gave it to you directly, you wouldn't have to pay taxes."
Xia Ning remained silent.
Xia Shujie felt a bit helpless and explained gently. "A 10 million deal—Dudu Tea has to go through the necessary procedures; how could it be that fast? Don't be impatient."
Xia Ning looked at Xia Shujie quietly, not saying a word, and blinked her eyelashes. This counted as acting spoiled!
Xia Shujie sighed. "I really can't do anything with you. The day after tomorrow at the earliest!"
Xia Ning smiled! "Dad is the best!"
The father and daughter chatted for a while. Today, Xia Ning was much more enthusiastic than usual and said a lot.
Suddenly, she heard the doorbell ring and guessed that the delivery had arrived. She hung up the video call.
Xia Ning looked at the Red Arowana in the fish tank and pressed her palms together in a prayer. "Little Red, thank you for your hard work!" she thought. This wasn't feudal superstition; it was psychological comfort, a prayer for blessings. May Oak Tree be with you.
Xia Ning turned around and walked to the entrance of the living room, glancing at the screen by the door, where a delivery rider was standing outside the courtyard gate.
The delivery rider was wearing a helmet and a windproof mask, with only his eyes visible.
Xia Ning walked out of the living room, crossed the small courtyard, and opened the gate. Looking at the tightly wrapped delivery rider, she reached out her hand and smiled. "Thank you!"
But she saw that the delivery rider was clearly stunned.
Xia Ning remained expressionless, feeling a bit dissatisfied. She knew she was beautiful and could sense the gazes secretly cast at her every day, but she didn't care; she was used to it. However... you couldn't just stare at her without moving, right? That was impolite!
Xia Ning held out her hand, her tone slightly heavier. "Hello, please give me my takeout."
But she saw that the delivery rider remained indifferent, his eyes scanning her up and down, and finally, his gaze shifted toward the house behind her.
Xia Ning suspected he was checking to see if anyone else was in the house. Feeling nervous, she quickly backed away and grabbed the iron gate of the courtyard, preparing to close it.
Suddenly! A strong hand blocked the gate! Xia Ning was startled. "You're still young, don't be impulsive!" She grabbed the door with both hands and pushed hard. "There are many security guards in this residential area. As long as I shout, they will be here in less than a minute."
But she saw the delivery rider push the gate hard. Xia Ning took several steps back before she could stop.
The tall delivery rider walked into the courtyard, held the takeout high, and smashed it onto the ground. "Eat! Eat! Eat! Eat your head!"
"You have chronic gastroenteritis, and you order this kind of trash to eat?"
Hearing this familiar voice, Xia Ning was stunned. "Qin Xun?"
The delivery rider pulled his windproof mask down to his chin, revealing his face, which wore a teasing smile.
Xia Ning let out a sigh of relief, then felt a bit angry. Pointing at the takeout on the ground, a cold voice squeezed out from between her teeth. "I haven't eaten yet."
But she saw Qin Xun kick the takeout box; it rolled quite far and hit the courtyard wall. Xia Ning clenched her fists, staring at Qin Xun.
Then she heard Qin Xun's somewhat dissatisfied voice. "An average family? Such a large villa, and you call this an average family?"
