137: Chapter 137 Doing Something Meaningful

The silver-gray key rested in his palm.

Qi Yun took a deep breath and slowly inserted the key into the lock at the center of the bronze door.

"Click."

A crisp sound rang out.

Immediately after, the dark red runes around the keyhole suddenly lit up, shining brightly!

"Hummmm—!!!"

The door began to vibrate slightly.

Under the gaze of Qi Yun and Bai Yu, it slowly opened a crack inward.

Qi Yun and Bai Yu held their breath almost simultaneously and took half a step back.

The door was wide open. There were no walls on the sixteenth floor; the whole place shimmered with eerie light, and it was filled with an ominous aura.

"Bai Yu, you stay outside, guard the door, and don't follow me in." Qi Yun opened his eyes, his expression grave.

"The aura inside is very wrong. It's better if I go alone; I'll have greater mobility."

Bai Yu looked at Qi Yun's grave profile and nodded.

"Understood."

Qi Yun said no more, then stepped forward, crossing the threshold that seemed to separate two worlds.

The moment he stepped inside, all connection between the inside and outside of the door seemed to be completely severed.

Qi Yun noticed the abnormality the moment the door closed and turned his head sharply!

He saw Bai Yu standing quietly behind him, and that bronze door had long since disappeared.

"Bai Yu?" Qi Yun frowned even tighter. "Why did you come in? Didn't I tell you to guard outside?"

Bai Yu looked at him, her tone calm: "It's more efficient to explore together. Besides, the door suddenly started to close, and I felt it was safer to come in and meet up with you."

Her explanation sounded reasonable.

Qi Yun didn't change his expression, saying in a slightly serious tone: "It's very strange here. Stay close to me, and don't leave my side."

Qi Yun laughed inwardly: 'Trying to play games with me here?'

"Understood." Bai Yu walked to his side.

In the entire passageway, there was only one room.

The two of them cautiously stepped into that door.

In the deepest part of the room, against the wall, a vague outline could be seen.

Was that a stone bed?

On the stone bed, there seemed to be a humanoid shadow lying down.

Qi Yun approached cautiously.

It was indeed a person.

A woman with a slender figure, curled up and lying on her side on the stone bed.

She was barefoot.

Her skin was an extremely abnormal, glacial, ghostly blue!

Her features were hidden in the shadows and long hair, making it hard to see clearly, but her silhouette was quite exquisite.

At this moment, she seemed to be in some kind of deep sleep or weak state, breathing faintly and motionless.

Qi Yun frowned deeply. Was this the source of that terrifying aura? She looked... very weak? Was it a disguise? Or was the source of that terrifying aura someone or something else?

He didn't dare to let his guard down. His Space Perception was firmly locked onto the blue-skinned woman on the bed, while he vigilantly scanned every corner of the room to ensure there was no other danger.

Suddenly, the blue-skinned woman on the stone bed opened her eyes without warning!

"How... did you get in?!"

"What about those trash 'teachers'?! How could they let you in?!"

She sat up from the stone bed abruptly, her voice crisp but trembling, staring fixedly at Qi Yun and Bai Yu before her.

She seemed to want to launch an attack immediately; an extremely faint blue energy glow flickered on the surface of her body, but it quickly dimmed.

Qi Yun's eyes narrowed. Since she showed hostility toward him, she was definitely an enemy.

He didn't hesitate at all.

"Swish!"

A refined Space Blade slashed out silently.

The blue-skinned woman's pupils constricted sharply, as if she wanted to dodge, but her weak body couldn't keep up with her consciousness.

"Chii!"

The Space Blade swept past, cutting her and the stone bed beneath her cleanly into two pieces!

Her upper body slid down, the cut as smooth as a mirror. No blood sprayed out; only some ice-blue liquid, as if condensed from energy, seeped out slowly.

Her eyes were wide open, and the light in them faded rapidly.

She died just like that?

Qi Yun himself was stunned for a moment.

Was she that weak? He felt he hadn't even used much strength in that strike, and the opponent was gone.

Could it really be a BOSS in an extremely weak state?

"Did we solve it?"

Bai Yu beside him coughed, then asked.

Qi Yun glanced at her and nodded: "Yes, let's check this room first to see if there is anything else, or an exit."

The two of them split up and searched carefully in the not-so-large room.

No clues, no treasures, not even an exit.

Then the two walked out of the room. The moment they stepped out, the room also disappeared strangely.

"We seem to be trapped in this enclosed space. Can your Space Imprint teleport us out?" Bai Yu walked to Qi Yun's side and analyzed calmly.

Qi Yun showed a somewhat exhausted, even slightly 'lazy' expression.

He slid down against the cold wall and sighed: "It doesn't work. This place is too strange. My Space Perception is completely blocked, and teleportation doesn't work either."

He patted the floor beside him and said to Bai Yu: "Now that it's come to this, let's rest for a while, recover our strength, and then think of a way slowly."

Bai Yu frowned, seemingly dissatisfied with his passive attitude:

"Aren't you going to do something? Sitting and waiting for death isn't your style."

Qi Yun seemed not to have heard her questioning. Instead, he reached out and gently grasped the hand Bai Yu had hanging at her side, using a little force to pull her down to sit as well.

Bai Yu's body seemed to stiffen for a moment, but she quickly relaxed, letting Qi Yun hold her hand.

Qi Yun raised his other hand, his fingertips gently brushing against the smooth and delicate cheek of 'Bai Yu'. His movements carried a kind of ambiguous tenderness, and his voice lowered:

"Sorry, I've been busy with dungeon matters recently and haven't had time to experiment with you."

Bai Yu's body was obviously even stiffer, but she endured it and didn't pull away. She tried her best to maintain her usual calm tone:

"I don't think this is a suitable place for experiments. The environmental variables are uncontrollable, and the data obtained will not have reference value."

She was still trying to maintain Bai Yu's persona.

Qi Yun laughed secretly in his heart. 'Little one, you can really act. Let's see how long you can keep it up.'

From the moment he sensed the Space Imprint on her disappear, Qi Yun was almost certain that this Bai Yu was fake.

After the incident with the Shu Qianxue clone, Qi Yun had been cautious and left his own unique Space Imprint on all core members.

This had become his ultimate method for distinguishing truth from falsehood.

Qi Yun was in no rush.

He needed to find a way to leave this enclosed space from her.

"But we don't have anything else to do right now." Qi Yun's hand slid from her cheek to her shoulder, his tone carrying a touch of helplessness and roguishness. "Waiting idly is a waste of time. Why don't we do something meaningful?"
