149: Chapter 149 Landing on Quan Island
The cruise ship cut through the sea's surface, currently sailing through a thick mist.
Visibility was very low.
Qi Yun stood on the deck, his gaze piercing through the thin mist as he looked into the distance.
The side of the island facing them had extremely treacherous terrain.
The vast majority of the coastline consisted of black cliffs dozens of meters high and nearly vertical.
Only in the middle section was there a landing point that could barely be called a beach.
It appeared to be no more than two hundred meters wide.
Within the dense surrounding fog, the silhouettes of many other ships could also be seen.
Many were medium-sized vessels, most likely made of wood.
These ships maintained a wary distance from one another as they sailed toward Quan Island.
“It seems that's Quan Island,” Xia Ran's voice rang out beside Qi Yun.
Qi Yun nodded, his gaze never leaving that small beach.
“Qi Bao, are we going to land over there?” Chen Xiaolin also walked over, her tone carrying some concern.
“There are too many people there, and the terrain is narrow. Once we land, we'll have to watch out for the surrounding ships.”
Qi Yun looked toward the towering black cliffs.
“We're going over there.”
“Huh?” Chen Xiaolin was stunned. “Over there... can we get up?”
“Before we couldn't, but now we can.” Qi Yun revealed a confident smile.
The cruise ship adjusted its course and headed toward the cliff area Qi Yun had designated.
As they approached the island, the surrounding fog thinned slightly.
The nearby ships also noticed this cruise ship that had suddenly appeared and was heading toward an 'impossible landing' zone.
“Holy crap! What kind of ship is that?!”
“A cruise ship?! A super cruise ship?! Is this the kind of ship someone can actually get in Sea Survival?!”
“It's fake, right? An illusion? Is this fog toxic?!”
“Could it be that Tribe everyone's talking about in the channel?!”
“What are they doing sailing over there? There's no path at all!”
“Do they plan on climbing up from there? Are they crazy? Those cliffs are even more slippery than here!”
“We don't understand the logic of big shots... maybe they have a helicopter on board?”
“Helicopter my ass! If they had one, they would've flown over long ago!”
Various voices of shock, doubt, and mockery rang out.
Most of the people on those ships chose to continue lingering and observing near the small beach.
The cruise ship came to a steady halt about twenty meters away from the black cliffs.
“Xia Ran.” Qi Yun looked at the pink-haired woman beside him.
Xia Ran understood. Looking at the towering, slippery cliff ahead, she extended both hands toward it.
The next moment—
“Rumble...”
On the cliff, within the rocky crevices near the top, several seemingly withered trees suddenly shook violently and began to grow!
Their root systems burrowed frantically into the depths of the rock, and their trunks thickened and lengthened at a speed visible to the naked eye, snaking toward the cruise ship on the sea!
The speed was extremely fast. Within a few breaths, a wooden trestle bridge spanned the sea, landing steadily on the cruise ship's highest deck!
On the deck, the members of 01 Tribe watched this miraculously appearing 'bridge' and broke into exclamations of wonder.
“The newcomer is pretty good!”
“How could any woman subdued by Qi Bao be lacking?”
Hearing this, Xia Ran's face flushed red.
“This makes things convenient!”
“Walking straight up is much safer than climbing ropes!”
On the sea below, people from other ships saw this scene clearly, every one of them dumbstruck, their jaws hitting the floor.
“What the hell?! You can even do it like that?!”
“Who is that woman? A plant-type ability user? She's that fierce?!”
“She just built a bridge right up?! What kind of god-tier ability is that?!”
“This Tribe really is monstrous! Both the people and the ship are freaks!”
“Forget it, let's just honestly stick to storming the beach...”
Under countless gazes mixed with envy, jealousy, and shock, the members of 01 Tribe stood safely atop the cliffs of Quan Island, looking down at the vast sea and those tiny ships below.
After a brief period of commotion and observation, the remaining ships finally began to move, slowly approaching that narrow beach.
Qi Yun stood on the high ground, looking toward that noisy beach.
He had a faint, ominous premonition.
“Qi Yun, what's wrong?” Xia Jin noticed his expression.
“Nothing, I just feel that beach is too quiet,” Qi Yun said, his gaze solemn.
“Quiet? Isn't it quite lively?” Chen Xiaolin looked at the crowded beach below.
“I mean the things on the island are reacting too quietly to this commotion. Logically, if you were the one guarding this place, what would you do?”
Qi Yun explained.
The group was stunned for a moment, then quickly realized.
“Either launch a surprise attack while they haven't found their footing!”
“Or set a trap and wait for them to go deeper.”
“Or, both.”
As if to confirm their suspicions—
Just as the personnel from various Tribes on the beach had basically finished landing and were organizing their teams.
“Roar—!!!”
“Awoo—!!!”
“Hiss—!!!”
Deafening, bizarre roars of all kinds suddenly erupted from the woods within the island!
In the next moment, like a black tide, dense swarms of monsters of various forms surged out from every hidden corner, launching a fierce assault on the people who had just landed!
Some of these monsters looked like twisted combinations of arthropods and fish, while others resembled spiders with only four legs!
“Enemy attack—!!!”
“Save me! Ah—!!”
“Fall back! Get back to the ships!”
“The ships! The ships have been holed!”
In an instant, the beach landing point that had been somewhat orderly turned into a bloody slaughterhouse!
Several weaker or slower-reacting Tribes were submerged by the monster tide almost instantly, suffering heavy casualties.
The slightly stronger Tribes could only struggle to hold on, fighting while retreating in an attempt to get back to the sea, but many small boats had already been destroyed by underwater monsters, leaving their retreat in doubt.
Looking down from their vantage point at the tragic and sudden scene below, the girls all gasped in cold air.
“Good thing we didn't go that way!” Chen Xiaolin patted her chest, her heart still racing with fear.
“Those monsters were lying in ambush all along.”
“And they're very smart, knowing to wait until people haven't settled before acting.”
“This island isn't simple.”
Qi Yun's gaze swept over the carnage on the beach, then toward the dense forest deep within the island, his vigilance raised to the maximum.
These monsters not only had strength but also possessed a certain degree of intelligence and organization.
The timing, location, and method of this ambush were all chosen perfectly.
Qi Yun said in a low voice, “Xia Ran, can you build a simple defensive fortification?”
Xia Ran looked at the surrounding terrain.
They were currently located on the edge of a relatively open rocky platform, with the cliff and sea behind them and rugged rocky slopes to their left and right.
Ahead was a stretch of scattered rocks and sparse woodland that gradually sloped downward toward the interior of the island.
