152: Chapter 152 Mother and Son
On the eastern side of Quan Island, there lay a Gravel Beach covered in black sand and stones.
On this Gravel Beach, a tragic and desperate scene was unfolding.
A Sandstone Wall about three meters high formed a square area, currently on the verge of collapse.
Outside the sand wall were hundreds of monsters of various shapes.
The sand wall trembled under repeated impacts, sand and stones constantly peeling off to reveal terrified, exhausted, and desperate faces behind it.
Inside the sand wall, Li Tao's face was deathly pale as he pressed his hands firmly against the inner wall; veins bulged on his arms, and his body shook violently from overexertion and fear.
His eyes were bloodshot, teeth clenched, as he desperately tried to maintain the stability of the sand wall, suppressed groans constantly escaping his lips.
Upon landing on this Gravel Beach, they had been ambushed by monsters lurking beneath the sand and in the water, suffering heavy casualties.
Forced back all the way here, they had barely managed to build this barrier using Li Tao's ability to prolong their last gasps of life.
But now, the barrier was also about to fail.
Snow's tall frame lay on the ground, a massive wound across her body.
"Useless! If I had known... I never should have believed your nonsense and come to this damn Quan Island!"
Li Yue cursed through gritted teeth, her gaze toward Li Tao filled with anger and resentment.
Her profession excelled at ambushes and burst damage, but in a head-on battlefield and under siege like this, her effectiveness was greatly reduced, and she had been seriously injured due to her recklessness.
Listening to his companion's complaints and painful groans, Li Tao felt as if a knife were twisting in his heart, filled with endless regret and self-blame.
Why did I come?
Why was I blinded by those "wealth is found in danger" comments in the channel and the news of a Tribe's success?
Why did I think that with two Unique Classs, we could get a piece of the action in this hellhole?
I've doomed everyone!
The strength brought by two Unique Classs had given him excessive confidence on the islands.
But now, in the face of the truly cruel Quan Island, this bit of strength was simply fragile.
"I'm sorry... I've doomed everyone."
Li Tao's voice was hoarse, carrying a heavy sob and despair.
He could feel the energy within him draining rapidly; the collapse of the sand wall would happen in the next moment.
If only someone, if only someone could save us.
I am willing to pay any price.
He prayed desperately in his heart.
"Heh... I didn't expect that I would actually die in a place like this, with my bones picked clean by these disgusting monsters."
Li Yue gave a miserable smile, her eyes full of unwillingness and self-deprecation.
She gave up on tending to her wounds and leaned against the sand wall.
"I really want... to eat a Ham Sausage again..."
Snow murmured nonsensically, a hint of a nostalgic smile appearing on her pale face.
A huge crack meandered down from the top of the Sandstone Wall.
"It's collapsing!" someone screamed in terror.
The shadow of death instantly overwhelmed everyone inside the sand wall.
They could feel the rank breath of the monsters on their faces, hear the piercing sound of claws scraping against sand and stone, and imagine the agonizing pain of their bodies being torn apart in the next second...
Just as the sand wall crashed down, turning into countless scattered stones and sand.
A figure appeared out of thin air, without warning, between the collapsing sand wall and the lunging monsters!
With his back to Li Tao and the others, he faced those hundreds of hideous monsters in a casual posture.
Qi Yun turned his head slightly, glancing out of the corner of his eye at Li Tao, who was slumped on the ground with a deathly gray face, and the group of battered people behind him.
"I was wondering why I sensed a Space Imprint fluctuation over here; so it's you guys."
Qi Yun withdrew his gaze and looked back at the monsters in front of him, who had temporarily stopped their attack because of his appearance.
He had previously left an imprint on Li Yue.
"Forget it, since I've run into you, I'll clear the area."
Qi Yun seemed to raise his right hand, pressing his index and middle fingers together, and made a few strokes in the air toward the monsters ahead.
Several transparent ripples spread forward in a fan shape.
The next moment—
"Chiss!" "Chiss, chiss, chiss—!"
A series of tooth-aching soft sounds of cutting flesh and carapace rang out almost simultaneously!
Those hundreds of monsters, which had been ferocious and roaring just a second ago, were now all frozen in place.
Immediately after—
"Thud! Thud! Thud!"
All of them were sliced in half.
With just a few casual strokes.
He had completely wiped out the monsters that had driven Li Tao and the others to their wits' end.
On the gravel ground, blood flowed like a river, and corpses were strewn everywhere.
He turned around, looking calmly at the group behind him who seemed collectively petrified, their expressions blank and their brains completely stalled.
Li Tao sat slumped, his mouth wide open, eyes bulging almost out of their sockets as he stared blankly at Qi Yun.
Is this a dream?
The savior he had fantasized about in his despair... had actually appeared?
And in such a way, like a god descending to the world, wiping out enemies with a wave of his hand?
Snow's unfocused eyes refocused; this person emitted a familiar aura.
Li Yue leaned half-way against the remaining sand wall, her eyes now filled with joy.
She looked at Qi Yun, watching his figure as he effortlessly killed the monsters, and couldn't help but glance at Li Tao, who was slumped like mud nearby, his face blank with the shock of survival.
How could the gap between people be so large?
One exhausted all his strength and risked his life only to build a crumbling sand wall, barely surviving under the monsters' siege, ultimately leading everyone toward despair.
The other appeared at will and, with a casual wave of his hand, cleared the field of dozens of ferocious monsters like cutting grass, remaining completely untainted by dust.
Her heart began to pound uncontrollably.
She lunged toward Qi Yun!
"I knew it, you wouldn't give up on us mother and son, Qi Yun."
