54: Chapter 54 The Tragic Female Insect's Nobleman 16
Bo Yisi arrived at a basement where Vella was tied to a chair, eyes blindfolded and mouth stuffed with a cloth.
Bo Yisi looked at him with cold eyes, reaching out to pinch his chin and force him to look up.
“Since you dared to harm my lord, it is time for you to pay the price,” Bo Yisi said in an icy voice.
He took out a sharp dagger and cut a gash on Vella's face; blood immediately flowed out.
Vella let out a muffled groan of pain, but with his mouth blocked, he could only produce blurred syllables.
Bo Yisi relished his pain, continuing to leave wound after wound on his body with the dagger.
Finally, Bo Yisi slit Vella's throat, watching as his life gradually ebbed away.
Bo Yisi took care to clean himself up until he was fresh and without a trace before carrying a tray and pushing open the door to the bedroom where His Highness was.
The sound of the door opening reached his ears, but Lu Zhan had no desire to even turn his head. He sat calmly on the sofa in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the Panicle Hydrangeas outside that he used to love.
The hydrangeas in his sight were just as they had always been—pure and white as snow. Unlike him, who was covered in filth that could never be washed clean, making it unbearable for him at every moment.
“Your Highness, why don't you rest a little longer?”
Bo Yisi set the tray down. He walked over and knelt on one knee beside the Male Zerg.
Lu Zhan lowered his gaze to look; the tall and powerful Military Zerg was very submissive and well-behaved.
“Bo Yisi, I know about the matters on the starnet.”
Upon hearing this, a hint of joy welled up inside Bo Yisi. Like a child seeking credit, he tentatively asked,
“Your Highness, does that make you feel even a little bit happy?”
As the words reached his ears, Lu Zhan remained noncommittal in his heart, his silver eyes looking seriously at the Military Zerg kneeling at his feet.
“Bo Yisi, have you forgotten? I wouldn't have had to suffer this tribulation if not for you. You asking if I'm happy... doesn't that sound like a joke?”
Lu Zhan's words were like a knife stabbing into Bo Yisi's heart. His face turned pale, and his eyes filled with pain and self-reproach.
“I'm sorry, Your Highness... it's all my fault. It was my darkness and baseness, my excessive pathological selfishness, that caused you to suffer so much hardship.”
Bo Yisi lowered his head, his voice carrying a slight sob.
Lu Zhan was silent for a moment, his expression calm as he slowly spoke.
“Bo Yisi, stand up. I no longer care about that matter.”
Bo Yisi did not stand; he only looked up at Lu Zhan. “Truly? Your Highness, then you no longer blame me?”
“As I said before, I have never blamed you. It's just...
Bo Yisi, between us, there is no going back.”
Lu Zhan's tone was flat, but the sense of distance and indifference within it could not be ignored.
A sharp pain pierced Bo Yisi's heart. He vaguely felt that at this moment, he had lost something; though he didn't know what it was, he felt it was very important, and perhaps it could never be found again...
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself and not think too deeply.
“Your Highness, no matter what, from now on, I will always stay by your side and protect you. I am willing to do anything for you.”
Lu Zhan let out a soft chuckle upon hearing this. Anything? Even though he knew it was impossible, at this moment, he still wanted to try.
“Bo Yisi, I want to leave. Let me go.”
Bo Yisi's expression shifted slightly at those words, but he forcibly suppressed it, saying gently yet firmly,
“Your Highness, you are my lord.”
The Military Zerg did not explicitly refuse, but Lu Zhan understood the underlying meaning: he would not let go.
“Mervyn, how is he? Is he alright?”
Mervyn, Mervyn, it was Mervyn again. When exactly would His Highness stop caring about this Military Zerg even for a second?
Even though the jealousy and rage were roiling fiercely in his heart, he no longer showed it in the slightest for fear of annoying His Highness. He only replied in a soft tone,
“He is fine. He woke up early this morning and was discharged. As for where he went after that, I don't know. Your Highness, do you need me to investigate?”
He didn't want to investigate at all. If His Highness asked him to, he would simply say the man was no longer on the Imperial Star to cut off His Highness's lingering thoughts.
“No need. He should be better off alone.”
Without him as a burden, Mervyn would only live more easily. Moreover, he didn't want Mervyn to suffer any more harm because of him.
He was already in this state anyway; how much worse could it get?
“Understood, Your Highness.”
Bo Yisi stood up and brought the tray over.
“Your Highness, please eat something. You also need to take your medicine; I've looked through Your Highness's medical records carefully.
Before, I didn't know Your Highness's condition and was too crude and reckless, hurting Your Highness. I will never do it again; I will take good care of Your Highness.”
As the words of concern and worry fell on his ears, Lu Zhan only felt they were ironic. He had no emotional fluctuations and was even unwilling to engage, merely giving a slight nod.
Seeing His Highness's indifference, Bo Yisi felt unwilling, but he could only persuade himself that things would get better after a while if he just endured a bit longer.
...
In the following days, a bizarre peace was maintained between the two. They seemed to have reached a wordless understanding, letting the past fall silent like sleeping memories.
Lu Zhan knew he couldn't escape this elaborately crafted, magnificent cage, but his heart was unwilling to submit.
He did not step out of the bedroom, did not ask to leave again, and never mentioned Mervyn. He simply sat alone in front of the window in silence.
No matter how much Bo Yisi humbled himself to please and flatter him, Lu Zhan would not give him a shred of emotion. His tone remained cold, and his face remained aloof.
Every time Bo Yisi tried to get close, the Male Zerg would dodge. His entire body was in a state of rejection and silent refusal, and the coldness in his eyes grew even deeper.
Seeing this, Bo Yisi could only give up for the time being, not wanting to break the rare peace.
This state continued until today, when Bo Yisi went to the hospital for a routine check-up and received a report that was both unexpected and delightful. The report showed that he had a Zerg Egg in his belly.
Holding the report, Bo Yisi raised his hand to gently stroke his lower abdomen, feeling extremely happy. This was bestowed upon him by his lord that time in the car; this was the cub belonging to him and His Highness.
This Zerg Egg came at a very timely moment. Perhaps it could ease the currently frozen relationship with His Highness.
Thinking of this, his face was filled with an uncontrollable smile and his heart was leaping with joy, yet it was inevitably mixed with a bit of trepidation.
Bo Yisi was afraid that if it was born a little Female Zerg like him, His Highness wouldn't like it, as the Zerg race had always valued little Male Zergs more.
But regardless, at this moment, he desperately wanted to tell His Highness the news. His Highness was so kind and soft; perhaps in the future, he would be a bit gentler to him for the sake of the Zerg Egg.
Just thinking about it made Bo Yisi feel that his heart was incredibly sweet.
