325: Chapter 325 Enemy Attack, Great Battle Begins
The wind had just stopped, and grains of sand were still suspended in mid-air.
On the top floor of the West Tower, the monitoring screen suddenly exploded with red light, and the data stream of the Mechanical Prosthetic Eye surged in speed.
Chen Wuwang's finger stopped on the communicator knob, and he ceased tapping the desk—he stood up.
"They're here," he whispered, his voice sounding like a blade scraping against sheet metal.
A rift tore open on the distant horizon, and dark shadows surged out like a tide, pressing toward Qiming Plain on the lingering power of the sandstorm.
The war drums had not yet sounded, but the ground had already begun to tremble; electric arcs danced on the tips of the Psionic Towers, casting flickering light across the entire battlefield.
Blood Butcher stood atop a Crimson Copper Chariot, his cloak fluttering; he raised his whip and pointed it at the high tower in the very center of the Chen family's position.
"Three days of planning, and today we draw the net!" he laughed loudly, his voice rolling across the wilderness. "Chen Wuwang! You cyber-mad dog, tonight you'll watch your legacy turn to ash on your knees!"
As his voice fell, the torrent behind him roared into motion. Hundreds of figures rushed out from the dust, with those in the Golden Core realm leading the way and Nascent Soul cultivators bringing up the rear; blades and spears were like a forest, and talisman fire flew everywhere.
They marched across the ground, cracks spreading beneath their feet, as they charged straight for the three major thoroughfares: East Cliff, South Mine, and North Forest!
At the eastern cliff, Chen Xiaodao crouched in a rock crevice, his fingertips lightly stroking the Magic-Tech Core on his sword hilt. He heard the footsteps and that phrase, "draw the net."
"I've been waiting for you for three days," he sneered, swiping his fingers like a sword.
Buzz—!
The triple sword formation was instantly activated. The first layer, "Meteor Rain," saw dozens of sword lights pouring down from the top of the cliff;
The second layer, "Wind-Severing Throat-Lock," saw Sword Qi intertwining into a net, sealing off all escape routes in the air;
The third layer, "Soul-Chasing Heart-Stab," saw seven main strands of Sword Intent lock onto the enemy's vanguard trio.
"Kill!" a low shout rang out.
Sword light splashed down like a rainstorm; before the enemy vanguard could even rush into the Fire Crossbow Passage, they were sliced in half.
The corpses were still smoldering as they fell, and the rising blood mist was shredded into smoke by the next wave of Sword Qi.
"New Sword Intent, just in need of live targets." Chen Xiaodao stood up, blood dripping from his sword tip, a slight smirk on his face. "Come on, give me more."
In the southern mine shaft, the alarm lights suddenly flashed violently.
Chen Tiezhu slammed the cockpit console. "Fuck! These bastards actually dare to come?!"
He kicked open the safety cover and pressed the red button. The engine of the earth dragon roared, its tracks crushing sand and stone as the mecha lunged forward.
"The armor I welded—anyone who touches it dies!" he roared, the sound of the cannon charging humming loudly.
The enemy was swarming in through a gap in the mine shaft, led by a scarred brute wielding twin hammers, who grinned as he smashed them toward the power line interface.
"Break!" he bellowed.
Before the hammers could fall, the ground shook violently.
A massive steel shadow crashed in from the flank like a landslide. The earth dragon's right arm swept across, swatting the man and his hammers a hundred meters away, smashing him into the rock wall with only half a leg left twitching outside.
"Haha! Scrap metal turned to refined steel, feels good, doesn't it!" Chen Tiezhu laughed wildly, maneuvering the mecha to turn; its left hydraulic claw grabbed two ambushers and slammed them into the ground.
"I'll give you a free trial of Chen's Heavy Industries' after-sales service—lifetime warranty, burial included after death!"
The cannon charged again and boomed. A ball of psionic fire whistled out, blowing the entire squad of enemy cultivators into scattered pieces.
Deep in the North Forest, Bai Ling knelt on both knees, her palms pressed against the damp earth.
Vines grew wildly and roots burst forth; the entire forest seemed to come alive. With her eyes closed, her lips moved slightly as she chanted an ancient Elven incantation.
"Light hides in leaves, shadows lurk in roots; those who lose their way shall fall forever in this forest."
In an instant, a misty illusory light rose, enveloping the entire northern slope. The enemy troops who had rushed into the woods immediately lost their way, with some even turning their blades to hack at their own comrades.
"Who?! Who's there!" someone screamed.
"It's me! Don't attack!" another replied.
But before the words could fully leave his mouth, a fluorescent arrow pierced through the mist and through his throat. Two more followed immediately, accurately hitting the foreheads of two others.
Bai Ling slowly raised her head, a third light arrow condensing at her fingertip, her gaze as cold as frost.
"The forest does not welcome executioners," she whispered. "You... should not have come."
At the West Tower, Chen Wuwang had walked to the edge of the railing; the wind whipped his silver hair, and the Zerg claw scars shimmered with a green light under the lightning.
He looked at the three battlefields: sword rain flying over East Cliff, flames soaring from the South Mine, and ghostly shadows flickering in the North Forest.
The communicator rang repeatedly.
"East line cleared, enemy vanguard scattered." Chen Xiaodao's voice was calm yet tinged with excitement.
"South entrance held! The earth dragon took down eight, I can keep going!" Chen Tiezhu shouted while fighting.
"Over thirty enemies trapped in the North Forest, infighting in progress." Bai Ling's breath was slightly ragged, but her tone was firm.
Chen Wuwang nodded without speaking; his Mechanical Prosthetic Eye continued to scan, data constantly refreshing.
At this moment, Blood Butcher stood on his chariot; seeing all three lines of attack thwarted, he was not angry but instead threw back his head and laughed.
"Good! Good! This is getting interesting!"
He suddenly drew the Blood Blade from his back, its blade crimson as if soaked in ten thousand souls, and pointed it toward the West Tower.
"Chen Wuwang! What kind of hero are you, cowering on that tower? Do you dare come down and fight me for real?! Let me see if you, cyber-mad dog, can do anything besides hide behind machines and fire arrows from the dark!"
Hearing this, Chen Wuwang's lips suddenly curled upward.
He didn't answer, but simply raised his right hand and slowly removed the Mechanical Prosthetic Eye from his left eye, revealing the pitch-black void beneath.
Then, he pressed the prosthetic eye back into the socket; his pupil flared with blood-colored spiritual patterns as he locked onto Blood Butcher's position.
"Kill as many as come—" he whispered, his voice not loud, yet it spread across the battlefield through the Amplification Formation. "This sentence is the epitaph you chose for yourself."
As his voice fell, he suddenly threw the dagger in his hand, stabbing it into the ground before his feet.
Boom—!
A psionic resonance erupted from the entire tower. Five Psionic Towers lit up simultaneously, blue-white electric arcs weaving into a net that illuminated every inch of Qiming Plain.
On the battlefield, the enemies were blinded by the intense light; meanwhile, the morale of the Chen family surged as they roared in unison.
"To battle!!"
On East Cliff, Chen Xiaodao stood at the edge, his sword tip pointing to the ground, surrounded by dozens of enemy corpses. He looked toward the center of the battlefield, Battle Intent boiling in his eyes, his fingers already stroking the hilt of his sword.
At the South Mine entrance, the earth dragon sat among the rubble, its right arm slightly deformed and its energy core flashing a yellow light.
Chen Tiezhu cursed as he twisted the control valve. "Fuck! You think this little damage will put me out of commission? In your dreams!"
In the North Forest clearing, Bai Ling was still half-kneeling on the ground, sweat on her forehead, her hands supporting her weight as she maintained the illusion formation.
The vines were still writhing, and the Detection Crystals continued to feed back signals. She gritted her teeth and whispered, "Don't fall... hold on just a little longer..."
On the West Tower, Chen Wuwang stood in the wind, communicator in hand, his Mechanical Prosthetic Eye scanning in all directions. His gaze swept over the battlefield and landed on Blood Butcher on the distant chariot.
The man's cloak fluttered, his Blood Blade was sheathed, and a smile still hung on his lips—clearly... he hadn't exerted his full strength yet.
Smoke billowed from all directions, and the sounds of battle shook the heavens and the earth.
Qiming Plain had become an Asura battlefield.
Chen Wuwang slowly raised his hand and pressed the communication channel.
"All units, pay attention." His voice was calm, yet it was like the last gust of wind before a thunderstorm. "The enemy's main force hasn't moved yet. The real charge... has only just begun."
