Afterward, Yao Zhi placed the box in her bamboo basket and covered it with a piece of old fabric. With her body blocking the clerk’s sight, she put the box into her system’s storage before leaving the bank.

Now that she already had the silver, it was time to visit the General’s Mansion. Since her identity was the wife of a small Squad Leader, she didn’t need to prepare any gifts. After she got her cart back, she drove it to the General’s Mansion.

Yao Zhi was confused when she detected animosity coming from her. This was the first time she had come under her real identity. Logically speaking, she shouldn’t have offended her. Why did she look at her as if she were an enemy?

Despite her confusion, she followed Chun Hua to the back courtyard. When they arrived in the hall, Chun Hua said, "Please have a seat. Madam will be here in a moment."

After she finished speaking, she glanced at the maidservants, and one of them quickly poured a cup of tea for Yao Zhi.

While she drank her tea, Yao Zhi looked around and noticed that, compared to the majestic main hall, this back hall was simpler. The decoration was low-key but elegant, with many potted plants placed near the windows and flower tables.

On the curio cabinet, various vases were displayed. Several paintings and pieces of calligraphy were hung on the wall, adding a scholarly vibe to the room.

She drank 2 cups of tea before Xue Ya’er finally arrived, followed by Chun Hua.

Hearing her footsteps, Yao Zhi stood up and waited until she took her seat before curtsying and saying, "Greetings, Madam."

"There is no need for formalities," Xue Ya’er said as she waved her hand.

Yao Zhi straightened her back and met her gaze. The moment she saw her eyes, Xue Ya’er was taken aback. She felt that the pair of eyes looked familiar, and an image of a young man suddenly flashed through her mind.

"Madam, my name is Yao Zhi, and I have come on behalf of my husband to deliver the letter from the General to you."

Xue Ya’er had already read the letter and smiled. "Yao-shi, I have read the letter. I must thank you and your husband for saving my husband’s life."

After she finished speaking, she glanced at Chun Hua. Receiving the signal, Chun Hua handed a wooden box to Yao Zhi before standing behind her Madam again.
