Chapter 78: A Careless Mistake Walking closer, Yao Zhi noticed a small piece of fabric in his hand. When she realized what it was, her face instantly reddened. Without thinking, she reached out and snatched her panties away.

Startled, Fu Chen’an raised his head and asked, "Wife, what are you doing?"

Fu Chen’an froze. He stared at the small, soft fabric in her hands. He had thought they were handkerchiefs. Now, knowing what they were, the image of his wife’s body covered by such delicate cloth appeared in his mind.

Yao Zhi was startled when she saw his nose suddenly start bleeding. She tossed the panties aside, pinched the soft part of his nose, tilted his head down, and said, "Pinch here and breathe through your mouth. I will get a towel."

After she left, Fu Chen’an continued pinching his nose, silently scolding himself for exposing such an embarrassing side in front of his wife.

Unaware that her husband was experiencing a minor social death, Yao Zhi opened the System shop and bought a box of ice cubes. It contained five cups of ice and cost her 1 point.

She took out one cup, poured half of the ice cubes into a clean towel, and stored the rest in her System storage. When she returned, her husband was still in the same position.

Ten minutes later, the bleeding finally stopped. The ice had melted into water. Removing the towel, she examined him and said, "When we go to town, let’s visit the clinic and have the physician take your pulse."

"I’m fine. The weather is too dry, that’s why I had a nosebleed. There’s no need to waste money," Fu Chen’an said embarrassedly.

"No. You fight often and get injured all the time. It’s better to get checked. I will feel more at ease," Yao Zhi insisted.

Fu Chen’an wanted to refuse, but when he met his wife’s stubborn gaze, he finally relented. "Alright. I will listen to my wife."

Satisfied, Yao Zhi said, "You rest for a while. I will prepare breakfast."

"Mhm," Fu Chen’an nodded.

Since they were going to town, Yao Zhi took out scallion flower steamed buns and red bean paste buns from her System storage. There were 10 steamed buns left from her previous purchase.

She placed them in the steamer, boiled some water, and went to wash up. By the time she finished, the water was boiling, and the buns were ready.

She poured the water into the drinking vat and placed the buns on bamboo plates. As a side dish, she took out a jar of meat sauce from her System storage.

Soon after she brought the meal inside, her husband entered, having finished hanging the laundry in the yard.

They ate in silence. After the meal, Yao Zhi said, "Husband, we forgot to change your dressing yesterday. Let’s do it before we go out."

Fu Chen’an nodded and closed the door. While she fetched the ointment and gauze, he had already removed his outer robe and undergarment and sat on the bed.

Yao Zhi was still nervous when she saw his body, but after sharing a bed for several days, she was no longer as embarrassed as before.

She examined the wound, cleaned it with an alcohol swab, applied a layer of ointment, and bandaged it with fresh gauze. The deep wound was healing well, while the smaller ones had already faded to faint marks. Even the scabs had peeled off.

When they were done changing the dressing, Fu Chen’an went to the woodshed and saw a cart inside. He took it out and hitched it to the donkey. To make it more comfortable for his wife, he gathered several old clothes and used them as cushions.

When he was done, he saw his wife coming out of the house wearing a veiled bamboo hat. Thinking about how beautiful she was, he nodded with satisfaction.

He placed the bamboo basket onto the cart and held her waist. Although his wife’s waist was not as slim as other women’s, it still felt small when encircled by his broad palms.

Before Yao Zhi could react, she was already lifted off the ground and placed into the driver’s seat by her husband. She looked at him with widened eyes and said, "Husband, next time you do something like this, you should warn me first."
