120: Chapter 120 The Angry Survivor
Song Yang turned and left the cave without looking back.
The surviving members of the Biker Gang collapsed to the ground, gasping for air.
"Du Yaohua, you have gone too far!"
The man with the mohawk punched the rock wall hard, letting blood flow from his hand.
"He doesn't even treat us ordinary people like human beings; is he even going to let us live?"
"Ten energy crystals! This is clearly just wanting our lives!"
Vicious curses rose one after another; their fear of the Blood Shadow Butcher was rapidly transforming into sky-high hatred for the mastermind, Du Yaohua.
Song Yang did not stop.
Like a ghost, he wove through the intricate underground caves and quickly locked onto his next target.
This was a group of survivors who called themselves the "Iron Rat Gang."
When Song Yang appeared before them wearing a devil mask and holding a dripping long blade, several Iron Rat Gang members on lookout duty screamed instantly.
Hearing the commotion, a short but sharp-eyed middle-aged man ran out from the depths of the cave, holding a sharpened steel pipe, and asked cautiously:
"To what do we owe the honor of your visit?"
Song Yang reached out, grabbed the man by the throat, and lifted him up.
"Director Du sent me to notify you: within three days, hand over fifty energy crystals. Remember, not one less!"
"Fifty?!"
The leader of the Iron Rat Gang exclaimed, "Aren't you making things difficult for us? It's a miracle we've survived this long; where are we supposed to get energy crystals?"
"That is a problem for you to consider."
Song Yang's eyes sharpened. "Director Du doesn't like listening to nonsense. If you can't pay, then there's no need for you to exist."
He swung his long blade casually.
"Ah!"
The arm of the Iron Rat Gang member closest to him fell off.
"This is a small reminder for you."
"Don't try to challenge Director Du's patience, or none of you will survive."
Song Yang deliberately adopted an extremely arrogant posture, his words filled with scorn and disdain for these survivors, perfectly portraying the image of a henchman of Du Yaohua—arrogant, despotic, and insatiably greedy.
As he left, the man's expression turned grim.
"Bastard! That animal, Du Yaohua!"
"He's trying to force us to our deaths!"
"Fifty energy crystals! Isn't that just wanting us dead?"
Emotions of anger and despair spread through the Iron Rat Gang, all of which were transferred onto Du Yaohua.
Song Yang continued his "hunt."
He chose small and medium-sized factions—those with few people, weak strength, and no way to meet the demands.
Everywhere he went, he appeared as the Blood Shadow Butcher, claiming to be acting under the orders of Du Yaohua to demand varying amounts of energy crystals. Any slight disobedience or hesitation resulted in slaughter.
His methods were incomparably ruthless, while simultaneously being full of mockery and sarcasm.
Song Yang molded himself into a moody, insatiably greedy madman who regarded human life as nothing more than grass, and the master of this madman was none other than Du Yaohua.
For a time, dark currents surged throughout the entire underground Shelter.
News that the Blood Shadow Butcher, acting on behalf of Du Yaohua, was extorting energy crystals everywhere and slaughtering the innocent spread to every corner.
All the factions that had been "visited" by Song Yang were filled with complaints, and their hatred for Du Yaohua reached its peak.
They might not dare to openly oppose the powerful Du Yaohua, but the seeds of hatred had already been deeply sown.
The enemy of an enemy is a friend.
This was exactly the effect Song Yang wanted.
He wanted to make Du Yaohua a public target and the common enemy of everyone in this underground world.
...
Deep in a certain cave, dim firelight flickered.
Tiger Li was currently sitting with a few newly arrived Evolvers, sharing canned food.
"I don't know what's going on," a thin-cheeked Evolver said, putting down his empty can. "I've felt something wrong all day today. It's like there are many eyes watching us from the shadows, filled with killing intent."
As he spoke, he subconsciously touched the back of his neck.
Tiger Li paused his chewing, glanced at him, and said in a calm voice:
"Oh? Is that so?"
He swallowed the last bite of meat before speaking slowly:
"Brother, you're overthinking it. Although this place is a mixture of dragons and snakes, there are very few people who dare to target us."
"Director Du has equipped us all with military uniforms, so our identity is recognizable at a glance. No one dares to provoke us."
"You're right. With so many of us, who would be foolish enough to come and court death?"
Another, more burly Evolver grinned. "By the way, Instructor Zhang, I heard that Director Du recently sent down a tough character with the codename 'Butcher.' This guy is really a beast; he's scavenging energy crystals everywhere with terrifying efficiency. I heard his methods are incredibly ruthless, tsk."
Hearing this, the silent Zhang Zhengguo spoke up:
"I'm actually quite curious. Logically speaking, I am the person who knows Director Du best, yet even I didn't know he had such a fierce warrior under his command. It's simply inconceivable."
"Haha."
Tiger Li laughed. "Instructor Zhang, don't overthink it. Having one more strong person is definitely a good thing for us. Once we find that kid surnamed Song, we can let the Butcher take him out, and we won't even have to lift a finger."
Before he could finish speaking, a rush of footsteps came from outside the cave.
Several Soldiers ran in with panicked expressions, carrying a makeshift stretcher with a corpse on it, crudely covered by tattered cloth.
"Instructor Zhang! This is bad!"
The leading Soldier's voice was trembling, filled with a crying tone. "We... we just found it outside..."
Zhang Zhengguo frowned, put down his can, and said in a deep voice:
"What's the panic? Bring it over here and let me see."
When the Soldiers lifted a corner of the covering cloth, a thick, pungent smell of blood instantly filled the air, overpowering the aroma of the food.
On the stretcher lay a mutilated corpse, covered in knife wounds and marks from various blunt objects, with brains even smashed out.
"It's Liu San!" an observant Evolver exclaimed.
Everyone looked closely, and although they recognized him—it was indeed the Evolver who had come down with them in the same batch, Li San!
"Li San? Didn't he say ten minutes ago he was going out to find a woman to blow off some steam? How did he end up like this?"
The atmosphere in the cave instantly dropped to freezing.
A dozen or so Evolvers all stood up, their eyes filled with shock and disbelief.
Zhang Zhengguo's expression also became exceptionally grave. He crouched down and carefully examined the wounds on the body.
They were of different sizes and depths, coming from different weapons.
Anyone could see that Li San had been beaten to death by a group of people.
Zhang Zhengguo's eyes sharpened as he demanded: "Besides Li San's body, what else was found at the scene?"
