41: Chapter 41 Siege of Song Yang

Song Yang looked at the messages constantly popping up on his phone screen, his face expressionless.

In the owners' group chat, more people with grievances against Song Yang began to surface.

[Flower of the Community]: @Song Yang, we are all about to starve to death! Can't you show some kindness? How can you watch your Neighbors starve to death and still live with a clear conscience?

[Striving to Live]: Exactly, we're all Neighbors. In this day and age, we need to help each other to survive. Sharing a little food with us won't kill you.

[Sunshine After the Rain]: That's right! If you have food, you should bring it out! We are in the same community; we ought to watch out for each other! If I had food, I would definitely be the first to share it with everyone!

Today was the seventh day since the sun went out, and many people in the community had already run out of their food supplies.

Having experienced the previous apocalypse, Song Yang knew very well how hungry these people were now.

It probably wouldn't be long before cannibalism began.

The man who lost his younger brother, whose username was [End of the Road Sprint], was currently spamming the chat frantically.

[End of the Road Sprint]: @everyone, listen to me! That guy Song has plenty of supplies at home, more than he can ever eat!

[End of the Road Sprint]: We can't just sit here and wait for death! We'll die if we starve, and we'll die if the monsters outside bite us! We might as well take a gamble! Let's go smash his door open together! Let's loot all his food!

Upon hearing this suggestion, the previously quiet owners' group chat suddenly erupted into activity.

[Building 4 # Flower of the Community]: Right! Why should he have food while we don't? Let's go find him!

[Sunshine After the Rain]: What neighborly bond? When he watched us starve to death, why didn't he think about the neighborly bond? A selfish person like him deserves to die!

[Building 5 # Striving to Live]: But Song Yang was able to kill Fatty Wang, I'm afraid we won't stand a chance.

[End of the Road Sprint]: To hell with fear! He might have killed one, but can he kill all of us?

We have the numbers! No matter how sturdy his door is, can it stop all of us? Rush in, and all the food and drink will be ours!!

Many who had previously remained silent now also surfaced to join in.

[Building 7 # Old Wang Next Door]: Count me in! I haven't eaten anything for several days!

[Building 9 # Worker's Soul]: Damn it, we're going to die either way, let's fight! What's the plan? You tell us!

[Building 10 # Loves Square Dancing]: He must have bottled water! I haven't had clean water for days!

The group was incensed.

It was as if just by rushing into Song Yang's home, all their problems would be solved, and they could return to the days of plentiful food and worry-free utilities.

Xiao Xue stood to the side, watching the undisguised murderous intent on the phone screen, her face turning pale.

She subconsciously moved closer to Song Yang, as if only by his side was it safe.

[End of the Road Sprint]: Song! Do you see this? Everyone wants to kill you, and it's useless to kneel and beg for mercy now! I'm going to make sure you die without a burial place today!

Just wait! We'll be there soon!!!

Sure enough, when Song Yang turned on the surveillance, just as "End of the Road Sprint" had said, a group of figures could be seen moving, gathering from different buildings down to the unit where Song Yang lived.

Leading them were the few who had escaped earlier, while others held various "weapons"—fire axes, crowbars, wrenches, and some were even carrying thick quilts.

"They really came." Xiao Xue watched the surveillance footage, her voice tight.

Those Neighbors who were once so familiar now had eyes that looked like they wanted to devour people.

The crowd surged into the stairwell and first used the quilts to tightly block the windows on both sides of the corridor, clearly intending to muffle the sound and avoid alerting any potential dangers outside the building.

After doing all this, the crowd swarmed to the door of Song Yang's home.

"This is it! That monster should be gone, hurry and take this opportunity to smash the wall; the door is too hard, no need to smash it!"

The man pointed at the hole in the wall with a steel pipe and shouted with spittle flying.

"Smash! Smash it hard for me!"

Some hesitated, but seeing others had already started, the instinct for survival and the craving for food overwhelmed their fear.

A few people took turns stepping forward, using fire axes and crowbars to violently smash against the alloy steel plate inside the wall, sending sparks flying.

"Damn it! It really is tough as hell!" a man wielding an axe cursed, his arm shaking from the impact.

"Don't stop! Keep smashing!! Once we break through, all the food and drink will be ours!"

More people joined in, taking turns, attempting to break through this final barrier in the most primitive way.

"Song Yang, they seem serious, what should we do?" Xiao Xue gripped Song Yang's arm tightly, worried to the extreme.

Song Yang, however, seemed not to hear the commotion outside and didn't even look at the wall being constantly battered.

He turned his head, looked at the panicked Xiao Xue beside him, and asked, "Are you hungry? What do you want to eat?"

"What?" Xiao Xue was stunned and didn't react for a moment.

At a time like this, why was he still asking about food? Those people outside were about to rush in to kill and loot!

Without waiting for Xiao Xue to answer, Song Yang pulled her straight to the dining table. "Sit."

He pressed Xiao Xue's shoulders, making her sit on the chair by the dining table.

Xiao Xue sat there blankly; she could even feel a slight vibration coming from the floor beneath her feet.

Just then, Song Yang waved his hand casually over the dining table. "Clatter—"

Out of thin air, a plate of steaming hot stewed chicken with mushrooms appeared on the smooth tabletop!

A rich aroma instantly filled the air; the chicken was stewed until tender, the mushrooms had soaked up the broth, and a few specks of bright green scallions floated on the golden chicken soup.

Xiao Xue's eyes widened sharply, almost thinking she had hallucinated from hunger.

Before she could process this incredible scene, Song Yang's hand waved again. Another dish! Sweet and sour pork tenderloin!

The crispy-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside pork tenderloin was coated in a sweet and sour sauce, emitting an enticing aroma.

Following that, shredded pork with garlic sauce, Mapo tofu, steamed sea bass... dish after dish, complete with color, aroma, and taste, and still steaming hot, appeared on the dining table one after another like magic.

In the blink of an eye, more than half the table was filled. These dishes were steaming, looking as if they had just come out of the pot.

Before the apocalypse, Song Yang had discovered that his system space had the property of time stasis.

He had long been prepared and had specially ordered a large number of signature dishes from several hotels in the city, taking advantage of when no one was paying attention to store them all into his system space.

Looking at the table full of unrealistically rich dishes and smelling the long-lost aroma of food, Xiao Xue's stomach rumbled uncontrollably.

The Neighbors outside were risking their lives for a few bites of food, yet Song Yang could conjure up so many hot dishes as if by magic?

Song Yang looked at the table of dishes with satisfaction, took out his phone, adjusted the angle, and with a "click," took a photo.

Then, he opened the owners' group chat and sent the photo he had just taken directly.

There was no text, just that photo of the steaming, lavish dining table.
