50: Chapter 50 The Devil Teacher Comes Knocking

In the bedroom, Xiao Xue and Bai Jie were sound asleep.

Looking at these two beautiful faces so close at hand, Song Yang felt a strange sense of satisfaction flicker through his heart.

He was left wanting more.

His physical constitution had been enhanced threefold, far surpassing that of an ordinary person.

But these two women, after all, still had the ordinary physique from before the apocalypse, unable to withstand his prolonged "exertions."

Getting up from the bed, he prepared to inspect the house.

The defense of the safe house was the top priority, even though this place was far more sturdy than an ordinary person could imagine.

But even so, Song Yang had never truly let his guard down.

The experience of his brutal death in his past life was branded deep into his soul, making him understand that any negligence could bring utter disaster.

The warmth and softness in his arms was real, but how long could this peace last?

Outside, wave after wave of desperate outlaws, and those unknown monsters lurking in the darkness, were constantly coveting everything he possessed—food, shelter, and women.

He needed to become stronger, so he could firmly protect what he wanted to protect in this damned apocalypse.

Song Yang pulled up the surveillance feeds, carefully checking the perimeter of the safe house.

Wang Mang in the cage was curled up in a corner, sleeping.

And outside the main door, someone was standing there, though it was unclear when they had arrived.

The person was completely wrapped in a large, black, hooded rain poncho, concealed from head to toe.

Wang Mang in the cage seemed to have noticed the newcomer as well. He struggled to crawl to the edge of the cage, pleading for help from the dark figure.

But the dark figure remained motionless, not even turning its head, completely ignoring Wang Mang's existence, just standing silently before the door.

Song Yang pressed the intercom button.

"Who is it?"

The dark figure outside the door remained silent for a moment, then slowly raised a hand and pulled back the hood on its head.

On the surveillance screen, a face gradually came into focus.

It was the face of a middle-aged man, his skin somewhat pale, wearing a pair of refined, gold-rimmed glasses.

This face—he recognized it!

Or rather, it was etched into his memory!

This was none other than his junior high school teacher—Zhou Jianhua!

Fragments of long-buried memories, along with the city-wide news reports from back then, instantly flashed through Song Yang's mind.

A teacher with a refined exterior, who behind the scenes committed the beastly act of torturing and murdering a student!

The evidence was conclusive. In the end, Zhou Jianhua was sentenced to a heavy penalty, at least ten years to start!

This guy was actually in this residential complex after being released from prison, and he had found him.

Outside the door, Zhou Jianhua knocked.

"Song Yang, I know you're watching from inside. I'm Zhou Jianhua, your junior high homeroom teacher. Remember?"

"Teacher really has no way out. Could you, for the sake of our old student-teacher bond, spare some food and save your teacher's life?"

In the cage, Wang Mang, who had been listening intently, couldn't help but laugh out loud upon hearing this.

"Hahaha! Begging him?"

"Are you blind or out of your mind? Begging this heartless bastard?"

"He even killed the Neighbors! Do you think he'll give you food? Dream on! He wishes we'd all die out here!"

The smile vanished from Zhou Jianhua's face. He abruptly lifted his foot, clad in a dirty leather shoe, and kicked through the cage bars at Wang Mang's still-chattering mouth!

"Crack!"

Along with Wang Mang's abruptly cut-off scream, several bloodied teeth mixed with saliva went flying.

Wang Mang covered his mouth, curled up in the corner of the cage, whimpering in pain, not daring to utter another word.

Only then did Zhou Jianhua leisurely withdraw his foot, as if he had merely crushed a cockroach.

He turned his gaze back to the main door, that pleading expression returning to his face.

Before the surveillance screen, Song Yang watched all of this with an expressionless face.

This Zhou Jianhua was indeed no good person.

Indeed, a beast in human skin—even after all these years, its nature remained utterly unchanged.

Pleading? Charity?

It was nothing more than rhetoric to lure the prey into opening the door.

This guy going to such lengths to seek him out could never be just for a bite of food.

Song Yang's fingers moved over the surveillance panel, bringing up all the camera feeds.

He examined, one by one, the feeds from several cameras inside the entire building, zooming in, carefully scrutinizing every patch of shadow, every corner where someone might be hiding.

Finally, in a hidden corner downstairs, completely shrouded in darkness, the feed captured something unusual.

Enhanced by night vision and magnified several times, two blurry outlines became visible.

They were two figures, also wearing large, concealing black rain ponchos, curled up in the darkness of the corner, almost blending into the environment.

If not for this top-tier surveillance system's infrared night vision capability, their presence would have been impossible to detect.

At the edge of the magnified image, it was clear to see: both figures had their heads bowed, motionless, clutching machetes in their hands.

They were waiting for Zhou Jianhua's signal.

The moment Song Yang opened the door and stepped out, what likely awaited him would be these two long-prepared blades.

Moreover, this Zhou Jianhua was clever; he wasn't standing in front of the peephole, so crossbow bolts couldn't reach him.

And he had an iron rod strapped to his back. As soon as the door opened a crack, he could jam the rod in, preventing Song Yang from reacting and closing the door.

Staring at the screen, Song Yang decided to act.

That deceased girl had been very close to him.

She was a girl with two faint dimples when she smiled.

She would slip him warm millet porridge in the morning; when he couldn't solve a math problem, she would secretly slide over her notebook filled with answers.

Her laughter was crisp, like wind chimes.

It had made the young Song Yang feel the stirrings of a vague, budding affection.

And all of that had been crushed by this demon in human skin before him.

Ten years in prison had clearly not extinguished the malice in Zhou Jianhua's bones. Instead, it had made him more cunning, more adept at disguise.

For anyone who opened that door, it would be a dead end.

Zhou Jianhua had calculated well.

Unfortunately, he had miscalculated one thing.

Song Yang was no ordinary person.

Putting on his helmet and thick clothing, Song Yang pressed the button to open the door.
