269: Chapter 263 Lord City Lord

It was unknown how much time had passed.

Above the battlefield, where the scent of blood had yet to dissipate, ripples suddenly appeared in the air. Three pitch-black warships silently tore through the clouds and hovered above the charred earth.

The ship hatches opened, and hundreds of figures filed out.

They wore uniform combat armor, their auras heavy and composed. They stood in strict formation on both sides, their gazes fixed collectively on the hatch of the central flagship.

There, as the metal door slid open silently, a burly man dressed in a cyan combat suit stepped out slowly.

He did not deliberately release any pressure, but that oppressive feeling originating from a higher level of life caused all the Stellar Rank experts present to hold their breath and instinctively lower their heads.

The man glanced at the remaining traces of battle on the ground and the barely recognizable scraps of flesh, his brows furrowing slightly.

He turned to look at the subordinate beside him, a Stellar Level Nine expert who was currently trembling like a quail.

"Why is the Outsider's trail only being reported now?"

Upon hearing this, the subordinate's body shuddered violently, and he hurriedly bowed, saying, "I saw that you were in seclusion and did not dare to disturb your cultivation, so I intended to handle it myself..."

"Oh? Handle it yourself?"

The man in the cyan robe curled his lips into a smile, "So, you're saying it's your responsibility that the Outsider escaped?"

Cold sweat seeped from the subordinate's forehead, and his voice trembled, "I am incompetent! I was just afraid..."

"Afraid of disturbing me?"

The man sneered, interrupting him, "When did it become your place to make decisions for me?"

Before he could finish, the man's hand had already lightly rested on the subordinate's helmet.

That hand looked ordinary, but it seemed to contain the power of a collapsing star.

This Stellar Level Nine expert couldn't even muster a thought of resistance; all the energy in his body was tightly sealed, and he could only watch helplessly as that palm covered his vision.

Fear instantly engulfed him.

"Lo... Lord, I..."

"Bang!" A muffled explosion sounded.

The subordinate's plea for mercy came to an abrupt end. His head was crushed, turning into red and white gore that trickled down the gaps in his armor.

The headless corpse twitched twice before falling to the ground.

The air was deathly silent.

The hundreds of experts around them didn't even dare to breathe, only burying their heads lower, fearing that they would be next.

The man, as if he had just done something trivial, casually shook the blood off his hand and swept his cold gaze over everyone present.

"Clean up the battlefield and track down every trace of that Outsider for me."

"Report immediately as soon as there is any news."

"If anyone dares to act on their own initiative next time," he paused, "this will be their fate."

Thousands of kilometers were rapidly put behind Song Yang.

He passed by several massive cities along the way.

In the cities, the aura of life was as vigorous as a furnace, with hundreds of millions of indigenous people thriving within.

Song Yang's gaze only swept past from afar; he had no intention of getting close.

He was very clear that his aura as an "Outsider" was as conspicuous as a torch in the night in those densely populated places filled with experts.

Entering a city would be no different than walking into a trap.

His figure turned, changing direction, and he fled towards the depths of an endless, dark green mountain range.

The mountains were majestic, the ancient trees towered into the sky, and a rich, primeval atmosphere rushed toward him, cutting off prying eyes from the outside world.

This was the best place to hide.

Deep in a desolate canyon, Song Yang stopped. He had his eye on a nearly vertical, thousand-fathom cliff; the rock was iron-blue and incredibly hard.

A deep cave entrance was forcibly carved out by him.

He did not stop there, but went deeper inside and, according to his habits, excavated a simple stone chamber.

He sat cross-legged, calming the churning blood in his body, and adjusted his state to its peak.

Afterward, he began to continue practicing the second form of the Fentian Nine Spears.

In this strange world, only strength was the foundation for survival.

In the blink of an eye, three days passed.

Song Yang's location constantly changed.

As long as he remained stationary in a certain area for more than ten hours, his location would be exposed.

This was an overt scheme.

He used this method to force him to keep fleeing, constantly draining his energy and willpower until he was exhausted and revealed a flaw.

Another dawn.

Song Yang's figure rushed out from a deep underground river channel, kicking up a spray of cold water.

Days of fleeing for his life and hiding had made the killing intent on him increasingly condensed.

The strings of his spirit remained tightly wound, not daring to relax for even a moment.

The pursuers' sense of smell was sharper than he had imagined; no matter where he went, someone could always accurately lock onto his general position.

Song Yang stopped, standing still in a rocky Gobi desert.

In the wind came three obscure and sharp auras, approaching from different directions in a fan-shaped encirclement, unhurriedly.

They were very confident, like experienced hunters driving a prey that was already exhausted.

This time, Song Yang did not choose to flee; instead, his body sank, and his whole person seemed to merge into the soil beneath his feet, his aura vanishing without a trace in an instant.

Half an hour later.

A warrior wearing black armor appeared at the edge of the Gobi.

He held a compass-like instrument, its needle trembling slightly, pointing toward the spot where Song Yang had previously stood.

"The aura disappeared here... Did he use some kind of advanced breath-concealment technique?"

Just as he took a step forward.

The ground burst open without warning.

A spear gleam, condensed to the extreme and carrying a heat that could burn everything, shot up from beneath his feet.

It was too fast.

So fast that this person didn't even have time to think about dodging.

The spear gleam pierced through his body, and the terrifying high temperature burned his internal organs to ash.

In the other two directions not far away, two companions' expressions changed drastically, and they rushed toward this side.

Greeting them was Song Yang's figure, who had been waiting for a long time.

The battle ended in the blink of an eye.

Two corpses lay on the ground, and only the last pursuer remained, with Song Yang stepping on his chest, unable to move.

The man's eyes were filled with fear; he could not understand why this "prey" who was being hunted by everyone still possessed such terrifying combat power.

"Who sent you?"

The tip of the long spear rested on the man's glabella.

The cold killing intent made the pursuer tremble all over.

"It is Lord City Lord..."

"City Lord?"

Song Yang's brows lifted slightly; he sensed something unusual from this term.

"An Outsider like you could never understand the greatness of Lord 'City Lord'..."

"He is the only ruler of this world, this continent!"

"All Stellar Rank individuals, before him, are like dust!"

The pursuer said this with a face full of excitement.

That was not describing a strong person, but describing a god.

Song Yang's spear tip fell, ending the pursuer's life.

Song Yang put away the long spear and stood between the three corpses, remaining motionless for a long time.

He looked up at this strange sky.

The wilderness, which he had originally thought was vast and boundless enough to hide in, seemed at this moment to have turned into a huge, invisible cage.

And the existence known as the "City Lord" was the warden of this cage.

And he was the foreign object that had intruded into the cage.
