150: Lifeline

Clack.

With that crisp sound, Hals instantly made his move.

He swiftly, with lightning speed, tightly gripped the short blade, gleaming with a cold light, in You Zhong's hand.

He saw his fingertips suddenly exert force, attempting to firmly Control You Zhong's every subsequent move.

Thereby completely dominating this confrontation.

However, what Hals never expected was that in the very next moment.

A scorching, fiery pain radiated from his finger joints.

The pain was like a thousand steel needles simultaneously piercing his bone marrow, causing him to involuntarily let out a muffled groan.

Immediately after, he subconsciously released his grip on the short blade and quickly retreated, creating a safe distance from You Zhong.

After regaining his footing, Hals looked down at his right hand.

His face suddenly changed dramatically, filled with an unbelievable look of horror.

A deep, bone-visible knife marks appeared on the joints of his right hand.

The wound not only had flesh turned outwards but also displayed a strange charred black color, clearly showing traces of being invaded by lightning.

"How is this possible!?"

Hals's eyes widened, and he exclaimed in disbelief.

"Your Life Strength should be on par with mine, both around Level 23!"

"And our Sand Dune Civilization's bodies have a certain degree of Innate resistance to your Three Secret Treasures ability, Lightning Blade Thousand Jin!"

"How could you..."

"How could I?"

You Zhong interjected, his face expressionless, and asked back.

His chillingly calm voice, which sent shivers down one's spine, was as cold as if it came from the Nine Hells.

"Whether it's Martial Skills or Mystic Treasures, no matter what level of Martial Artist you are."

"Even if you possess unique, extraordinary, and mysterious powers in this world, what of it?"

"Ultimately, the essence of all these contests is nothing more than a comparison of the strength of power."

"For any living being, the basic power corresponding to its Life Strength is the same."

"The factors causing differences in strength are nothing more than the number of Mystic Treasures, the level of Martial Skills, and Mystic Treasure abilities, and so on."

You Zhong paused slightly, then glanced at Chen Du below before continuing:

"No matter how incredible the abilities one possesses, they are merely layered upon the foundation of your personal basic power."

You Zhong smiled faintly, his gaze like a torch as he stared at Hals opposite him, and slowly said:

"Just as you believe your sand has resistance to lightning, in reality, it is only limited to a certain range of power."

"Everyone knows water can extinguish fire, but if the fire's power is strong enough..."

"It can also burn water!"

"The same principle applies to lightning."

"That's utter nonsense!"

Hals roared furiously, his eyes wide, staring intently at You Zhong:

"Our Life Strengths are similar, and we both have Three Secret Treasures!"

"Even if my configuration in some other aspects is slightly inferior to yours."

"There's no way I couldn't even withstand a single move!"

Hals was also a Genius of the Sand Dune Civilization; in his youth, he was in no way inferior to students from the Three Top Academies.

From a young age, he had stepped on countless people to rise.

Among those of the same rank, someone was actually lecturing him?

Preposterous!

Hals roared; he couldn't accept the fact before his eyes.

Just then, he inadvertently caught sight of a shocking scene.

The hair at You Zhong's left temple had actually begun to turn white, strand by strand!

Because You Zhong had always worn a green headscarf, Hals had not noticed this before.

Although not fast, it was indeed gradually turning pale, one strand after another!

"You..."

Hals's eyes widened, his face filled with astonishment as he pointed at You Zhong, muttering in disbelief:

"Madman! You're a complete and utter madman!"

His voice suddenly became fearful.

"You actually ignited the 'Life Ignition Cord' within your body!"

Hals roared out.

"No wonder your power is so much stronger than mine!"

He shouted angrily while retreating several steps, seemingly terrified by everything happening before him.

"Are you out of your mind!"

Hals continued to roar.

"The Life Ignition Cord is a desperate measure that Sky Soaring Warriors only use at critical moments of life and death, meant for mutual destruction."

"Once ignited, it will burn irreversibly like a raging fire, until your life is completely consumed!"

He glared at You Zhong, his eyes filled with resentment, but more so with fear.

"Why are you so resolute, going to such lengths?"

Then he pointed his single hand downwards:

"This little brat, isn't it enough if I don't eat him?!"

Hals questioned hoarsely.

Although he seemed full of Aura, he was constantly increasing the distance.

In response to his questioning, You Zhong merely smiled faintly.

Like a wise man who had seen through the Mortal World, he once again steadily assumed a fighting stance and said firmly:

"Didn't I say?"

"I am destined to die today!"

"Damn it!"

Hals cursed, and with a "whoosh," he plummeted madly downwards.

As long as he burrowed into the ground, he would be safe!

This was the Sand Dune Civilization's most shameless ability; almost all Alien Civilizations had no way to deal with it.

They could burrow into the desert in the Quasi-Warrior and Martial Artist stages, and into the earth in the Sky Soaring Warrior stage.

Unless one's strength was clearly a level stronger than the opponent, even winning wouldn't allow them to keep the person.

But it wasn't without weaknesses; they had to consume Alien Civilizations while they were alive and on the surface.

Mainly, other Alien Civilizations, lacking their Innate affinity for sand and soil, would die on the way down.

Once the Life Ignition Cord was ignited, the remaining vitality in the body would transform into power.

The more power you used, the faster you aged.

Of course, even if you did nothing, you wouldn't live much longer.

You Zhong, having ignited the Life Ignition Cord, was destined not to live.

Hals naturally couldn't possibly ignite that thing.

He was a very life-cherishing person; the rights and power of a Sky Soaring Warrior were things he coveted.

He had to withdraw immediately!

No matter how precious Chen Du was as a resource, he was not as precious as his own life.

There would be plenty of opportunities to capture him later.

"Too slow."

You Zhong struck later but arrived first, his figure like a ghost, with a "whoosh," he flew directly in front of Hals.

A voice like the grim reaper's sounded in his ear.

Then, with a wave of his hand, the short blade, imbued with the power of thunder, directly severed one of Hals's arms.

"Ah!"

The scorching power of thunder caused Hals to scream in agony.

"Damn it! Damn High Martial Civilization!"

"Don't let me, your old man, get back alive!"

"Otherwise, I..."

"Alright."

You Zhong nodded, interrupting him.

...

At this moment, as the battle unfolded, the distance between the two and Chen Du gradually widened.

Suddenly, Chen Du felt the scorching sun that had been shining on his face being blocked by something.

He opened his eyes.

Chen Du's heart suddenly contracted.

He saw an older man, who had appeared above him at some point, looking at him with a benevolent expression.

This person was none other than the one he had only met once.
