31: Four Perfect
Previously, the Kuncheng Team was eliminated so quickly that everyone thought they were weak.
Now, after the director zoomed in on the big screen, sharp-eyed students immediately noticed that Chen Du was performing the fourth move of the Flowing Light Sword Technique, Azure Dragon Thrust!
It's important to know that the fourth move of a Martial Skill can only be executed by someone who has reached First-Order Perfection.
Everyone suddenly realized that it wasn't that the Kuncheng Team was too weak, but that the Liangcheng Team was too strong!
Their team actually had a master whose Martial Skill had reached First-Order Perfection!
"It's hard to believe that a city like Liang City could produce a 17-year-old student whose Martial Skill is at First-Order Perfection."
"At that age, with that level of Martial Skill, he is undoubtedly a Genius."
"Yes, achieving First-Order Perfection in Martial Skill at this age isn't something that can be bought with money; he must possess extraordinary talent!"
"It's just unknown how he compares to the other three seniors who also possess the 'Chicken Sign'."
First and second-year students in the audience discussed amongst themselves after seeing Chen Du's Perfection-level Martial Skill.
The two commentators were both teachers from Hai City No. 1 High School; one, Teacher Gu, was a beautiful woman with rimless glasses and her hair styled in a high bun.
The other, Mr. Wang, was somewhat handsome with a slicked-back hairstyle; both were in suits and ties, looking utterly professional.
At this moment, the two were still trying to explain away their earlier misjudgment.
Just then, the director's voice suddenly came through their earpieces: "Talk about the Chicken Sign!"
The two commentary teachers quickly changed the subject upon hearing this.
"Speaking of the Chicken Sign, we must mention the four most likely contenders for the Hundred Cities Championship!"
"Many people don't know their names yet, so I'll briefly introduce them here."
"They are..."
"Lucheng Team - Musashi!"
"Hai City Team - Zhou Xiaogu!"
"Hai City Team - Qu Zhongtian!"
When mentioning these two students from her own school, Teacher Gu's voice inevitably grew a little louder.
And this one on the screen...
At this point, Teacher Gu quickly glanced at the player information that had just been handed to her on the table.
"Liangcheng Team - Chen Du!"
Unlike the other three, Chen Du rose suddenly before the competition; his name was not on the list of seeded players.
The other three, however, began to show their talent as soon as they started learning Martial Skills in their first year of high school!
They had long been famous.
"The Martial Skill levels of the above four have all reached First-Order Perfection, which is in the 90% to 99% range."
"As for who is the strongest, that can only be determined after the second and third rounds of competition."
"But undoubtedly, Chen Du from the Liangcheng Team, his Chicken Sign is the weakest!"
At this point, Teacher Gu, fearing she would be accused of still trying to cover up her earlier misjudgment, quickly continued without a pause:
"I'm not questioning Chen Du's strength, but the first round requires the entire team to pass."
"However, his two teammates should be close to giving up!"
No sooner had Teacher Gu finished speaking than Moreit was seen on screen, being suppressed and continuously pushed back by three Bibi Wolves working together.
...
"Damn it!!!" Moreit let out an unwilling growl.
He never expected that he, who had always been first in all aspects since childhood, would now become a burden!
Seeing Moreit being constantly forced back by the Bibi Wolves, Chen Du's eyes grew sharper.
Moreit's Martial Skill level was First-Order 70%.
This level of strength is quite impressive for a student participating in this year's National Higher Education Entrance Examination across the entire High Martial Civilization.
But this is the Hundred Cities Championship!
This level of Martial Skill can only be considered average.
Now, being surrounded by 3 Bibi Wolves with Life Strength around level 6, he was struggling immensely.
Fortunately, Chen Du had warned them to watch out for the claws before the battle, which is how Moreit narrowly avoided attacks several times.
Otherwise, he would have already been scratched by their claws.
Excluding the 3 killed by Chen Du, there were still 11 Bibi Wolves surrounding him.
However, these 11 had also learned their lesson.
After the precedent set by the first 3, they now encircled Chen Du, only maneuvering and not attacking, constantly harassing him from the flanks.
This prevented Chen Du from making a move freely.
They intended to let their companions on the other two sides finish their battles first, then team up to deal with this big problem.
Chen Du was also helpless about this; these Bibi Wolves all had a Life Strength of at least level 5.
The strongest one had a Life Strength of almost level 6.5!
Due to Martial Skills, humans can develop more physical strength, unlike the Bibi Wolves, who fight purely by instinct.
Moreit and Liu Bo could both exert the strength of a level 6 Life Strength, but they couldn't withstand the sheer number of opponents.
Let alone reducing their numbers, it was a miracle they could even hold on.
Liu Bo on the other side was also helpless; his Martial Skill level was slightly higher than Moreit's, reaching First-Order 75%.
But it didn't give him much of an advantage; he was evenly matched with the other 3 Bibi Wolves.
Although Chen Du could exert the strength of a level 7 Life Strength, the opponents simply wouldn't attack!
If he forced a breakthrough, he would surely be surrounded by 11 Bibi Wolves, and if he got injured and bled, they would all enter a berserk mode.
The outcome would only be worse!
Just a little more...
My strength and speed are still just a little short...
Chen Du muttered to himself.
My current Martial Skill is First-Order 98%, and with level 9 Spiritual Power Attachment, my actual combat power should be First-Order 99%.
I still need to improve by 1%!
If my sword were a little faster, maybe I could break out!
Thinking this, Chen Du began to attempt a breakthrough.
...
"Hmm?"
"It seems Chen Du is preparing to go all out, but breaking a path through the wolf pack's encirclement won't be easy."
"From a probabilistic standpoint, he is highly likely to fail."
"After all, this is a forced move; if he doesn't break out of the wolf pack's encirclement, his companions will surely be eliminated."
"Rather than sitting idly by, it's better to fight with all his might!"
The two commentators on stage analyzed objectively, echoing each other.
VIP seats.
"Damn it, Chen Du isn't really going to fall in the first round, is he?" Li Mu half-reclined on his seat, arms crossed over his chest.
His fists unconsciously clenched slightly, and the smile on his face seemed to have been stolen, his good mood from earlier long gone.
Chen Du needed to at least reach the top ten to potentially be specially recruited by the Eight Famous Schools.
If he fell in the first round, they probably wouldn't even look at his information!
"Most likely, yes. The two commentators' assessment is very objective."
"Your student's Martial Skill level should be above First-Order 95%, which is extremely strong."
"But right now, he's only holding his own, which isn't enough to break through."
"And his companions are also about to collapse."
"The result will be known in three minutes at most."
Cao Yan's eyes narrowed as he gave his astute commentary. His Kuncheng Team had already been eliminated, and now, like Li Mu, he was watching the Liangcheng Team.
"Hmm?" Li Mu, immersed in the video, was suddenly interrupted by a vibration from his wristband.
"Principal Zhou's message?"
"He wants... Chen Du's information?"
...
Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!
Chen Du's longsword clashed with the Bibi Wolves' claws. Although his strength was greater and his speed faster, he couldn't overcome the sheer number of wolves!
As soon as there was any sign of trouble, another wolf immediately filled the gap, giving Chen Du no chance to reduce their numbers.
2 minutes!
This was the time limit Chen Du set for himself; within this time, he had to reduce the number of Bibi Wolves attacking him to single digits!
Otherwise, there would be no chance of breaking out.
Not only did he not encounter Musashi this trip!
He was also ambushed by those three guys from the Micheng Team!
Damn it! How can I fall here!
Don't get in the way of me getting a million, you stinky wolves!
"Shit!!!"
Chen Du roared, cheering himself on, stepping forward, fighting the wolves in reverse!
Faster!
My sword should be able to go faster!
A little faster!!!
Time passed by second by second. Chen Du danced alone amidst the wolf pack. He had thought he would quickly be swallowed by the wolves.
Yet, he cleverly maintained a kind of balance.
Very good! This is the feeling!
As long as I can maintain this balance, there's a chance!
Chen Du held his sword, dancing alone, his eyes flashing with an uncontrollable excitement—the thrill of seeing dawn!
Just then, a piece of bad news suddenly came from the side:
"This is bad, Chen Du, Moreit's arm has been scratched!"
Liu Bo shouted, and the remaining Bibi Wolves, smelling blood, all turned their heads towards Moreit's position.
Their pupils gradually turned red...
