359: Under the sky, we are all ants

"Die!" Ku Shan roared, his voice like a clap of thunder.

His robust body lunged towards Chen Du like a fierce tiger, with a breathtaking speed that brought him before Chen Du in the blink of an eye.

Ku Shan stomped his feet on the ground, and he leaped high into the air like an arrow released from a bowstring, soaring into the sky.

At the same time, he tightly gripped the heavy steel club in his hand, his arm muscles bulging and veins popping, as if containing infinite power.

As he descended, the steel club arced sharply through the air, bringing with it a whooshing sound and immense force, striking down at Chen Du below with the crushing power of Mount Tai.

The club strike was astonishing, like a bolt of lightning; if hit, one would feel as though their entire body would be smashed to pieces.

Chen Du narrowed his eyes at this. He happened to know about the Mystic Treasure's related ability: besides being sharp, the golden double blades had another characteristic—they could explode!

And the explosion's power was not small, enough to cause a certain degree of damage to weapons, so this ability required a new weapon after each use.

This was also why it could not empower the main weapon; otherwise, it would cause disability every time it was used!

If one didn't know about this ability, the opponent could completely pretend to let you think you were avoiding a vital point, then detonate the double blades.

To be honest, if two opponents were of similar strength and both engaged in close combat, fighting an enemy with the Heavenly Craft Double Blades ability would make it impossible to escape unscathed.

Of course, due to proximity, the one who detonated it would also suffer a minor injury.

Presumably, this was also the reason Chen Hean sent Ku Shan to fight him.

That old man's strength had greatly declined, and he hadn't been to the Surface in decades, leading to a lack of information. He probably suspected Chen Du might have some special way to kill him, so he was very cautious.

Sending his subordinate to fight Chen Du was to uncover his trump cards, to put his mind at ease.

Unfortunately... Chen Du could fight both up close and from a distance!

Chen Du executed a standard retreat step, calmly avoiding Ku Shan's swift attack.

In the opponent's eyes, Chen Du dodged at the last second, but in Chen Du's eyes, it was unhurried and composed.

Chen Du could have taken the blow head-on, but there was no need.

Underground, he was always alone; he would avoid bleeding if possible. In battles with such a clear disparity, victory was not the goal; remaining unharmed was.

His true opponent was not the Ku Shan before him. In fact, after fighting Chen Hean, he still needed to leave, and he might encounter unknown enemies. All these things could cause him to bleed and get injured.

Ku Shan gathered strength for this strike during his jump, then bent over in mid-air to smash down with full force.

So, the steel club would land first, and then he would land.

After avoiding the strike, Chen Du's eyes were like an eagle's. He seized the moment when the opponent was still in the air and hadn't landed, raising his hand to unleash a Crescent Sky Rush.

A fiercely sharp Sword Qi suddenly streaked across the ground, swift as lightning.

Wherever the Sword Qi passed, it cut a straight and neat line into the hard ground, as if meticulously drawn with a ruler.

The surrounding earth and rocks shattered and scattered, creating a scene of swirling dust.

The powerful wind stirred up by the Sword Qi swept through, causing cracks to appear in nearby bricks, as if they were bowing down to this immense power.

Chen Du was currently wielding the ying long sword, but he did not activate its doubling ability.

After all, it was an ability with limited uses, and it was completely unnecessary against an opponent of Ku Shan's level.

Ku Shan was startled. The opponent clearly hadn't activated his Mystic Treasure, yet he had unleashed a strange attack.

He had only seen this kind of long-range attack ability in Mental Energy Martial Skills, but this was clearly a physical attack.

Although it was somewhat beyond his comprehension, it didn't stop him from using his steel club to block it.

In Ku Shan's view, this was merely a probing attack from Chen Du; its power wouldn't be too strong.

But at the moment of contact...

With a "Pfft!" sound, a diagonal bloodstain suddenly appeared on his body, from his left waist to his right chest.

Ku Shan's muscles, as hard as steel plates, were now like paper, tearing instantly. The wound wasn't very deep, but the skin was definitely broken.

Crimson blood flowed out like a spring from the diagonal line, then traced downwards. After passing his thigh, it dripped onto the ground with a "Drip" sound.

This drip was like an alarm bell, ringing for Ku Shan.

Looking at his steel club, which had clearly defended against the Sword Qi, yet he was still injured, Ku Shan suddenly realized something, as if enlightened, and his eyes widened in disbelief, saying:

"Second-Order Martial Skill!?"

"You actually possess a Second-Order Martial Skill!?"

"The two Divine Envoys only achieved this after becoming Sky Soaring Warriors, yet you've done it now!"

Ku Shan exclaimed in shock, not expecting this alien from the Itera Civilization to be so terrifying. Not only did he go all out from the start, but he also achieved the terrifying Second-Order Martial Skill at level 16!

Chen Du's expression remained unchanged. His previous attack was just a test, and he hadn't used much force. If he had unleashed a full-power Crescent Sky Rush just now...

Even without charging it, it would have been enough to severely injure a defending Ku Shan.

Chen Du attacked in this manner because he wanted to observe the Big Ear Civilization's fighting style through his battle with Ku Shan.

He wanted to make the most thorough preparations for the upcoming war, as knowing oneself and one's enemy ensures victory in every battle.

Ku Shan and the other two Advanced Martial Artists watching from the side were existences Chen Du could easily eliminate.

Killing them instantly held no meaning; fighting them could yield some intelligence. As for Ya Li, whom he killed at the very beginning...

He was too weak, with a Life Strength of level 13, not even worth considering for reference.

This Ku Shan was decent. From that last strike, Chen Du could judge that his Martial Skill level had reached the first-order limit.

And because his Mental Energy met the standard, his current Mental Energy must be at level 15 or above. With his Martial Skill reaching the first-order limit, he could directly advance to a Sky Soaring Warrior as soon as his Life Strength increased by 0.9 levels.

"Hmm?"

Just then, Chen Du suddenly felt a shadow overhead. A tall figure appeared above him, holding a long spear and looking at him coldly.

"Ku Shan, stand down!"

"This fellow is not someone you can handle!"

Chen Hean had left his throne at some point and appeared above. The Skysoaring Warrior's exclusive flying ability allowed him to directly reach the area above where the two were fighting.

Chen Hean looked at Chen Du with a composed expression:

"Indeed impressive. To have mastered a Second-Order Martial Skill at only level 16, you must be a super Genius in the Itera Civilization."

"But you are too arrogant. Before a Sky Soaring Warrior, your strength is simply not enough!"

"Now, let this old man teach you what it means: below Skysoaring, all are ants!"

As his words fell, the long spear in his hand thrust fiercely downwards towards Chen Du's head!
