21: Chapter 21: Flying Warrior

After class, Chen Du successfully gained the approval of all his classmates, and even Teacher Ling was no exception.

He knew that this was because he had displayed a certain value and potential, which was why everyone paid so much attention to him.

In this High Martial Civilization, where both physical prowess and technology have reached their Peak, people's evaluation of an individual often depends on their future development potential.

And for these classmates, Chen Du's future was undoubtedly full of infinite possibilities.

Although Chen Du's Qi and blood were currently very low, based on the potential he had shown, he would definitely be specially recruited by the Eight Famous Schools.

Even the Three Top Academies would send people to inquire!

“Master, you have a new message!”

“Teacher Ling?”

On his way back to the Martial Arts Room, Chen Du looked at the notification from his smart bracelet on his left wrist and muttered to himself.

The message contained only one sentence.

“Come to my office.”

......

A day later, Chen Du once again appeared in Teacher Ling’s office.

Looking at Chen Du sitting upright across from him, Teacher Ling was filled with emotion.

How could this guy bring a new surprise every day?

“I didn't expect you to also have Mental Energy talent,” Teacher Ling said first.

Chen Du nodded: “Teacher, I didn’t mean to hide it, but I always thought this thing wasn't very useful.”

Chen Du was not lying; Mental Energy only provided him with two benefits.

Firstly, he had a very good memory; although not to the extent of photographic memory, it was close.

Secondly, he could control his body more subtly.

The latter's contribution to his score was far less than the former's.

“You are…,” Teacher Ling opened his mouth, originally intending to say that Chen Du was humblebragging.

But then he thought, the regular class didn't have Mental Energy courses; this was usually taught in universities.

Moreover, Mental Energy was not very useful before level 10, so it was normal for Chen Du not to know.

“Ahem…”

“Chen Du, have you heard of the Three Top Martial Arts Universities?” Teacher Ling directly changed the subject.

“Yes,” Chen Du thought for a moment and then said, “But I only know the names of these three Martial Arts Universities.”

“I have never seen their admissions brochures.”

Teacher Ling smiled at this: “That’s normal, because these three schools only recruit students who have the chance to become Sky Soaring Warriors!”

“Sky Soaring Warrior?” Chen Du silently repeated these four words, looking bewildered.

“Teacher, what is a Sky Soaring Warrior?”

Chen Du instinctively felt that this Sky Soaring Warrior should be different from the Martial Artists he was familiar with.

Teacher Ling was not surprised by this; there were countless Alien Civilization spies throughout the High Martial Civilization.

Information about Martial Artists was basically impossible to find online, and students like Chen Du, who weren't even Martial Artists yet, would certainly not know.

He then said:

“In this society where martial arts are revered, only by becoming a Level 20 Martial Artist can one truly be respected and admired.”

“This level of Martial Artist is called a ‘Sky Soaring Warrior,’ representing an extraordinary existence.”

As Teacher Ling spoke, a hint of longing unconsciously appeared in his eyes.

“As is well known, ordinary Martial Artists, also called Martial Artists, usually refer to those Martial Artists whose Life Strength is between Level 10 and Level 19.9.”

“And to become a Martial Artist, two key conditions must be met simultaneously.”

“One is for Life Strength to reach Level 9.9; the second is a first-tier intermediate Martial Skill.”

These two conditions were not mentioned in books, but Chen Du knew them.

Because his father, Chen Juncai, was a Martial Artist in his youth, and later retired due to injury.

“According to incomplete statistics, throughout the High Martial Civilization, among those above high school age who are registered as Quasi-Warriors or higher, only 50% have Martial Skills that have reached the intermediate level or above!”

“That is to say, half of the people cannot become Martial Artists, but the actual situation is far more brutal than the data suggests.”

“Although Life Strength can be boosted with qi and blood medicine, rich people are a minority after all, and few can afford such luxury.”

“Not to mention more expensive qi and blood medicine, many people can't even afford the most basic qi and blood milk and can only eat more beef every day.”

“Furthermore, even if they earn money later, the best time for training has already passed.”

“Facing a future destined to be without achievement, can you still work hard?”

Chen Du nodded, a hint of shock flashing in his heart.

He hadn't expected that just a first-tier intermediate Martial Skill would eliminate half the people!

This made him suddenly think of an ID called Huang Ye Chu from a previous virtual battle; he was 36 years old, but his Martial Skill was only at the first-tier elementary level.

He had always thought this was an isolated case, but he hadn't expected it to be the norm!

“Many people only improve their Martial Skill to the intermediate level after the age of 40, their potential long exhausted.”

“Even with expensive qi and blood medicine, they may not be able to raise their Life Strength to Level 9.9.”

“There are also many who, although they can become Martial Artists, will only reach about Level 11 or 12 in their lifetime, and simply give up and choose Liberal Arts.”

“Based on all these reasons, only about 20% of people ultimately become Martial Artists and continue to advance on this path.”

Chen Du blinked, not expecting the proportion of Martial Artists to be so low.

“On average, one in five people is a Martial Artist, which, for a High Martial Civilization population base of 30 billion, means there are roughly 6 billion Martial Artists, which is not a small number.”

“However, the number of registered Level 20 Sky Soaring Warriors is only 600,000!”

“This means only one Sky Soaring Warrior can emerge from every ten thousand Martial Artists!”

600,000?

It doesn't seem like a small number either.

As Teacher Ling said this, he glanced at Chen Du, as if seeing through his thoughts:

“Don’t look at the large number; when distributed among the nine ecological zones, it’s not that many.”

“The vast majority of these Martial Artists belong to the three major forces: the Limit Martial Hall, the Technology Martial Hall, and the Martial Artist Alliance.”

“Sky Soaring Warriors are either fighting Alien Civilizations on the front lines, or serving in universities, etc.”

“You will rarely encounter Sky Soaring Warriors during high school.”

“The biggest characteristic of a Sky Soaring Warrior is the ability to fly; they are truly non-human existences in the literal sense!”

“They are also the backbone of a civilization!”

“The reason Liang City can be so safe is because these Sky Soaring Warriors, whom you have never seen, have played a huge role!”

“The peaceful life you enjoy now is precisely because they bear the heavy burden!”

As Teacher Ling spoke, his volume unconsciously rose, and his tone was full of respect.

Chen Du knew that Teacher Ling was a soldier who had been on the front lines, far from comparable to teachers who came to teach high school directly after graduating from university.

After speaking, Teacher Ling took a deep breath and returned to the original topic:

“Chen Du, the Three Top Martial Arts Universities do not recruit regular National Higher Education Entrance Examination students; they only want students who have the chance to become Sky Soaring Warriors.”

“And the biggest difficulties in becoming a Sky Soaring Warrior are Mental Energy, followed by Martial Skills!”

“You possess both of these!”

Teacher Ling looked at Chen Du's slightly young face and smiled:

“I have already received accurate news that on April 3rd, Black Dragon Martial Arts University, one of the Three Top Martial Arts Universities, will conduct selections in Cyber City, the core city of our Giant Bear Domain.

You can try it then.”

He paused here and said earnestly:

“Chen Du, Black Dragon Martial Arts University is of a very high level, incomparable even to the Eight Famous Schools.”

“Even if you have signed with those two Eight Famous Schools, if you are selected by Black Dragon Martial Arts University, you can break the contract without penalty!”

“Because the school's purpose is to cultivate talent; it cannot prevent you from pursuing a better future!”
