124: Chapter 124 Recruitment
Shayiva did not take Chen Hao's resume, maintaining her aloof demeanor, and said to Manager Huang:
"Since you are here to inspect the work, and I have nothing else to do, why don't we start with the recruitment? Arrange the interview process, I want to sit in."
"Yes, yes, yes."
Shayiva was CEO Wei's top secretary at the Group headquarters. It was not surprising that she came to the branch company to supervise and inspect, including overseeing the recruitment process.
They immediately arranged the interview session, grandly preparing in the conference room. Only when everything was ready did they let Chen Hao enter.
"Hello to all the leaders. My name is Chen Hao, and this is my resume."
If it were any other applicant facing this scene, they probably wouldn't even be able to speak smoothly.
Chen Hao faced a Group of company executives and smoothly presented his resume, steady as Mount Tai, showing no sign of pressure.
Chen Hao's resume was passed around, and everyone recognized who he was.
Guangcheng wasn't huge, but it wasn't small either. For a top-tier Sales Champion like Chen Hao, even without actively inquiring, people had more or less heard rumors about him.
Especially since the HR circle was so small, all the negative stories about Chen Hao had long spread throughout Guangcheng, reaching the point of being common knowledge.
The head of HR was the first to express their attitude towards Chen Hao.
"Chen Hao, right? I've heard of you. Your reputation isn't very good, especially the unpleasant fallout with your previous company—that's known all over the city."
The implication was that he had already been placed on the HR blacklist.
"You're switching careers from marketing to real estate. That means starting from scratch. What advantage do you have?"
Chen Hao answered truthfully.
"My advantage lies in my Sales Champion performance. I believe that gold will always shine, no matter where it is."
"You are very confident, but your reputation isn't great, and your previous company's evaluation of you wasn't very high. Do you have anything to explain?"
Chen Hao shrugged.
"I have nothing to explain."
Another HR staff member chimed in.
"After all, you were a Sales Champion in the Marketing Department before, not a Sales Champion in the sales office. Switching careers means starting from zero. Aren't you being a bit too confident?"
Chen Hao looked at Shayiva, who was fiddling with her phone nearby. She showed no intention of helping, so Chen Hao could only answer truthfully.
"Confidence comes from my ability. I am willing to start as a grassroots salesperson and willing to start over."
The HR staff asked again.
"If a cup of milk is poured into the ocean, how do you get it back?"
This question was equivalent to 'spilt milk cannot be gathered,' clearly intended to make things difficult for Chen Hao.
Unexpectedly, Chen Hao answered fluently.
"First, why pour milk into the ocean? Tell me the reason so I can understand the background and devise a solution."
"Second, why do you need to get the milk back after pouring it into the ocean? Understanding the goal helps achieve the objective."
"Third, are there quality expectations for the milk once retrieved? Understanding the expectations helps me formulate multiple implementation possibilities."
"Fourth, if it cannot be retrieved, what are the alternative plans? This helps me understand the importance of time or find substitutes."
Chen Hao's rapid-fire counter-questions left the interviewers speechless and diffused the HR's deliberate obstruction.
The interview session ended, and Chen Hao was told to wait for news.
After Chen Hao left, the HR staff began discussing him internally, almost completely disparaging him.
If Secretary Sha from the Group headquarters hadn't been present, they wouldn't have bothered. An employee who sued their former company, someone on the HR blacklist, simply wasn't worth hiring.
Everyone babbled, reducing Chen Hao to worthlessness. While ostensibly discussing, they were actually setting the standard line for hiring employees for Secretary Sha.
Just as the discussion concluded and they were about to announce their decision,
Shayiva suddenly spoke up.
"CEO Wei often says that geniuses can sometimes be arrogant. I have also heard that Chen Hao is very talented. If we reject such a talent based solely on these negative rumors, I will report it truthfully to CEO Wei and review the branch company's employment policies again."
This single sentence made the atmosphere at the scene extremely oppressive.
The HR circle wasn't large, and it was a fact that Chen Hao was blacklisted. Such a person would have a very hard time joining any company through regular recruitment unless they had connections.
But the problem was that someone who didn't understand, like Secretary Sha, might give arbitrary orders. She understood nothing and judged Chen Hao's value based only on his resume, making things very difficult for HR.
Seeing this, Manager Huang quickly tried to smooth things over.
"Of course, recruitment cannot be generalized. Since Chen Hao has some talent, why not give him a chance? Let him start from the very bottom in the sales office."
With Manager Huang vouching for him, the HR staff couldn't argue further and reluctantly processed Chen Hao's employment paperwork.
Shayiva signaled that she wanted to tour other departments. With that, Chen Hao successfully landed the job, narrowly escaping disaster.
... Meanwhile.
The news of Chen Hao joining the Xinglong Group spread like wildfire within an hour.
The HR circle truly was small. Manager Li, the HR head from his former company, received the news immediately.
"Chen Hao joined Xinglong Real Estate in Guangcheng?"
This single sentence sent the entire HR department of his former company into shock. They had confidently guaranteed that Chen Hao absolutely wouldn't find a job in Guangcheng.
Now, him joining Xinglong Real Estate was a blatant slap in the face.
The HR employees gathered around, all focused on their phones. Among them was his ex-girlfriend, Lin Xiaomeng, who was engaged in a fierce discussion with the HR staff from Xinglong Group, criticizing and satirizing Chen Hao's character in every way.
"How could you hire someone like that? What were you thinking?"
"The situation is very complicated and difficult to explain, but please rest assured, Manager Li. Even if he is hired, Chen Hao will just be a newcomer with no work experience and will be assigned to the sales office as a sales intern."
"I knew it. How could a piece of trash ever turn things around?"
Everyone was discussing heatedly, but only his ex-girlfriend, Lin Xiaomeng, muttered crossly.
"People naturally move toward higher ground, like water flowing downhill. Chen Hao is such a useless person. He had connections and resources in Guangcheng, yet he still had to return to Guangcheng to start over—how pathetic."
This turn of events actually made Lin Xiaomeng feel very fortunate. If Chen Hao had soared to success, she would have felt terrible. But if Chen Hao amounted to nothing, she could despise him without any burden.
While everyone was still gossiping, Lin Xiaomeng used an alternate account to send Chen Hao a message, delivering a round of cold sarcasm.
"I heard you got a job at Xinglong Real Estate. Congratulations on becoming a sales intern."
She quickly received a reply from Chen Hao.
"Who is this?"
Lin Xiaomeng, with a dark expression, typed and informed him.
"I am Lin Xiaomeng."
It wasn't satisfying enough, so she continued to type sarcastically.
"As the saying goes, people move toward higher ground while water flows downhill. You, however, have done quite the opposite. A dignified Sales Champion is now working as a sales intern. How ridiculous."
The large "red exclamation mark" was particularly conspicuous!
Lin Xiaomeng stared blankly for a long time before realizing that Chen Hao had actually blocked her alternate account too.
"Chen Hao, you bastard!"
