67: Chapter 67: Advise reconciliation, not separation
"How could you hit someone! Are you even a man, hitting a woman?"
Qian Zhaodi rushed forward to start the fight.
"Get lost!"
Liu Jiannan flung his hand out, shoving Qian Zhaodi aside.
"No one is stopping me today! I'm useless for everything, but he, Chen Hao, is great? Fine, go with him! I'm done serving you!"
Zhuang Hua covered her face, trembling with anger.
"Get out!"
"I'll get out! You can just be a nun for the rest of your life!"
Liu Jiannan dragged his suitcase, walking out angrily, and met Chen Hao's eyes at the doorway. He cursed fiercely.
"A good dog doesn't block the road, get out of my way!"
He shoved Chen Hao aside and stormed out in a huff.
Couples fight at the head of the bed and make up at the foot. It's the same for boyfriends and girlfriends.
In this situation, Chen Hao couldn't say anything or do anything. Any slightly extreme action would be mistaken as poaching his friend's partner.
What if Chen Hao stepped in to help, and they reconciled later? What would he become then?
Besides, they already suspected he and Zhuang Hua were having an affair. If he spoke up now, he'd be no different from Wang Kaiming.
So, Chen Hao didn't say a word from beginning to end, maintaining complete silence.
"Bang."
The room door slammed shut heavily once more. This time, Liu Jiannan was gone for good.
"Wuwu..."
Zhuang Hua could no longer hold back her emotions and sat on the bed, clutching her head and weeping.
The slap didn't hurt much; the main pain was the heartbreak after the breakup, which pierced her soul.
Between Best Friends, casual bickering was fine, but when it mattered, they were still Best Friends. Qian Zhaodi kept comforting Zhuang Hua, providing maximum emotional support and encouraging her to let go.
"A petty man like that isn't worth anything. If you break up, you break up. We'll find someone better."
"Zhao Di, wuwu..."
The two women held each other and wept.
Chen Hao couldn't interject either. Looking at the bag of intimate apparel, Chen Hao felt a sense of guilt. He shouldn't have come.
Chen Hao bore some responsibility for causing this disastrous situation; otherwise, it wouldn't have escalated to this point, leaving Chen Hao caught in the middle.
"Let's drink. Drown our sorrows in alcohol. I'll keep you company until we're completely drunk today."
Qian Zhaodi waved her hand grandly, ordering drinks and takeout. Chen Hao felt a bit awkward and asked tentatively,
"Maybe I should take my leave first?"
Qian Zhaodi wouldn't let him go.
"Where are you going? Help persuade her!"
Zhuang Hua said, putting on an act.
"If we break up, we break up. It's no big deal. I'm fine. I'm sorry for letting CEO Chen see a joke."
Even at this point, she was still maintaining her pride. It was clear she was truly obsessive.
It wasn't long before the takeout arrived. Chen Hao opened the door to receive it—a pile of barbecue and beer, all laid out on the dining table.
Qian Zhaodi and Zhuang Hua came out of the bedroom, drinking and persuading her. Zhuang Hua gradually opened up with the help of the alcohol.
"Is it wrong for me not to support premarital sex? He knew this all along; he could always tolerate it before, so why can't he now?"
"You are not wrong. It's all his fault. He's just not a good person."
As Qian Zhaodi persuaded her, she winked slyly at Chen Hao.
"Why don't you try persuading her too?"
Chen Hao asked awkwardly.
"What do you want me to say?"
"Just tell us what you men think."
Zhuang Hua wiped her tears, staring intently at Chen Hao.
"You analyze it for me too. Why did Jiannan get so angry?"
Chen Hao smiled wryly.
"Analyzing from a male perspective, if I were Liu Jiannan, I might have broken up with you long ago."
"Why?"
The two women stared at Chen Hao with burning gazes.
"As the saying goes, once well-fed and warm, men start thinking about 'that thing.' Your objection to premarital sex isn't a huge problem because, due to a woman's physical structure, having a period once a month helps release excess energy."
"Men's physiological structure is quite different. From puberty onward, any adult male who doesn't have relations with a woman for a month will release it through a wet dream. This is the most unbearable challenge for men."
"I don't know about Liu Jiannan, but speaking for myself, I certainly don't have that much self-control. If my girlfriend wouldn't let me touch her, I definitely couldn't hold out for more than three days."
Qian Zhaodi retorted.
"Men are animals who think with their lower bodies. Ignore him."
Zhuang Hua understood and took it to heart.
"I get it. It's my fault. I'll go apologize to him tomorrow."
Qian Zhaodi advised her again, saying that a good horse doesn't eat grass it's spat out, and since they broke up, they should separate completely and not look back.
But people have feelings. To say you break up and feel no lingering attachment is fundamentally impossible.
It's better to tear down ten temples than to break up one marriage. Chen Hao couldn't say anything and could only accompany them silently.
He waited until Zhuang Hua was drunk, then took her back to the bedroom and tucked her in to sleep peacefully.
Because Chen Hao had drunk a lot of liquor at noon, the beer he drank now only made him more energetic, with no drowsiness at all.
Qian Zhaodi came out of the bedroom, closed the door, and yawned.
"Career flourishing, emotional life failing. Indeed, when God opens a door for a person, He absolutely closes a window."
"Stop with the philosophical musings."
Chen Hao checked the time.
"It's already one in the morning. Think about how you're getting home."
Qian Zhaodi sprawled out on the sofa.
"If you want to leave, go ahead. I'm worried about her and will stay tonight to keep her company."
While drinking earlier, Qian Zhaodi had taken off her outer jacket and was now only wearing a thin top, fully displaying her curvaceous figure.
Chen Hao said again.
"I also drank. It's so late, there probably aren't any designated drivers left."
"You're saying one thing and meaning another."
Qian Zhaodi gave Chen Hao an eye-roll.
"Guangcheng is a famous city that never sleeps. If you wanted to leave, you could find a way. If you want to stay, who knows what you're thinking."
Chen Hao didn't deny it.
"I admit I'm a scumbag. A gentleman admires a beautiful lady, right? What's wrong with liking pretty women?"
Qian Zhaodi rolled her eyes at Chen Hao again.
"Then, was your thing with Zhang Menglu just playing around?"
"That's actually not true. At least I developed real feelings for her."
Qian Zhaodi suddenly leaned close and asked mysteriously.
"I heard something today: that you were fired from the company for messing around with relationships there. Is that true?"
Chen Hao smiled wryly and offered no explanation.
"If you say it is, then it is."
"So, who do you think is prettier, me or Zhuang Hua?"
She was clearly tipsy, her gaze hazy.
"You are prettier than her."
Chen Hao stated frankly, being truthful. The system rated Qian Zhaodi a 9.1 and Zhuang Hua a 9.0. Even though it was only a 0.1 difference, it explained the situation.
"Smooth talker. You really are a scumbag."
She called him a scumbag, but her body was leaning almost entirely against Chen Hao.
"I can tell you where I'm better than Zhuang Hua."
She whispered into Chen Hao's ear, exhaling fragrantly.
"I have the charm a woman should have; she doesn't, because she isn't truly a woman yet."
Chen Hao casually draped his arm over her shoulder.
"You know I'm a scumbag, yet you're still provoking me like this. Do you want to be scorned by me?"
She said, her eyes full of seductive charm.
"Who says there are only scumbags in the world? Can't I be a 'scum girl'?"
As soon as she finished speaking, she leaned in and gave Chen Hao a light peck on the lips.
As a man, how could he let a woman take advantage? Chen Hao 'retaliated,' and the two engaged in a passionate French kiss.
As they were fully indulging, Qian Zhaodi called a halt in time.
"Go to the bathroom to do it. Don't let her hear us."
