63: Chapter 63 Taking Advantage of Someone's Kindness
Chen Hao immediately stood up to greet her. It wasn't that he was worried about Sun Nana, but rather that he was afraid Zhang Menglu would overthink things; she could be a bit petty.
"Nana, how did the handover go? What did the company say?"
Fortunately, Chen Hao reacted quickly and prevented Sun Nana from getting too close.
"The handover went smoothly, but Vice President Wang's attitude was infuriating. He actually slandered you, saying you were secretly smearing him. It made me so angry!"
Chen Hao led Sun Nana to the side.
"Wang Liguo is just a petty person; don't take him seriously. Why haven't the former company employees shown up? Where did everyone go?"
Sun Nana said, looking particularly annoyed.
"Mentioning that just makes me angrier. Mr. Ma was going to pay for everyone to attend a training course, but Vice President Wang insisted that this expense couldn't be counted as a company cost, telling the employees to pay for the courses themselves. None of us have that kind of spare cash."
"Although everyone wants to attend the training, these courses cost tens of thousands of yuan each. Who would be willing to spend their own money?"
Chen Hao whispered.
"Do you want to attend the training?"
"What's the point if I want to?" Sun Nana said, pouting.
"Vice President Wang said that during this period in Guangcheng, we should focus on liaising with clients, arranging our schedules perfectly, and giving us absolutely no chance to attend the training."
Chen Hao glanced back at Zhang Menglu, then said,
"It's fine. Leave the liaison work to me. Think about the training; I can cover the fees."
Sun Nana asked again.
"Which one do you think would be better for me to study?"
"Corporate Media Operations or Anchor Team Management—either would work."
Sun Nana said hesitantly.
"The registration fees for those two courses combined are over 260,000 yuan."
Chen Hao took out his phone and transferred the money on the spot.
"I'm transferring 300,000 yuan to you. Go sign up first. This is a huge opportunity; a chance like this training won't come around again."
After receiving the transfer, Sun Nana instinctively tried to hug Chen Hao.
"You are so good to me."
"We're in public, don't make a scene. Hurry up and register."
After sending Sun Nana off, Chen Hao turned and walked back. As expected, Zhang Menglu asked with a face full of jealousy,
"Who was that?"
"She's a former colleague from my company, an apprentice I personally mentored."
Zhang Menglu said jealously.
"She's so cute, and her voice is lovely too."
Chen Hao leaned close to her ear and whispered,
"It's useless. I only like your long legs."
"Hmph, stop it." Zhang Menglu blushed. Chen Hao had defused the crisis with one sentence and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
During the meal, businessmen gradually took their seats. Since most of the organizers were busy with registration, the restaurant's management wasn't very strict, which gave many people an opportunity to bypass the security line and come over to toast CEO Wei.
What kind of person was CEO Wei? With a net worth in the billions, his equity and company assets combined approached hundreds of billions. He was someone who could make it onto the Huaguo Rich List. Why would he bother with these small bosses?
Most people toasted by quickly downing their drinks. For people CEO Wei knew, he would acknowledge them with a simple gesture. For those he didn't know who offered a toast, CEO Wei wouldn't even touch his glass.
Glasses clinked, and drinks were exchanged. The restaurant became lively. Ma Botao and Wang Liguo came over to offer a toast.
"CEO Wei, I'd like to toast you."
Ma Botao was very humble, given the vast difference in status between him and CEO Wei.
CEO Wei glanced over, and upon seeing Wang Liguo, his face immediately darkened.
"I cannot drink this glass."
Ma Botao didn't mind.
"I'll finish mine; you do as you wish." He downed the drink in one gulp to show his sincerity.
Wang Liguo, however, refused to take the hint and insisted on forcing his attention on someone who didn't want it.
"CEO Wei, you mustn't be deceived by a petty person. I'm not as unbearable as some people say."
His wording was very clever. The words 'petty person' and 'some people' might suggest Shayiva to CEO Wei, but to Ma Botao, it was almost explicitly referring to Chen Hao.
CEO Wei wasn't going to humor him either.
"Am I blind or stupid? Do you really think I'm that easy to fool?" Saying this, he patted Chen Hao's shoulder.
"Why are there all sorts of people nowadays? How can a swindler like this still have the nerve to play the victim?" Chen Hao mocked sarcastically.
"By relying on cheating and deception, of course."
Wang Liguo's face flushed red with anger. Ma Botao tugged at him, wanting to leave, but Wang Liguo remained rooted to the spot, saying sullenly,
"Chen Hao, I was your former superior, yet you slander me like this. Should I expose the sordid things you did in the company publicly to everyone?"
Chen Hao's expression turned cold, and he stood up indignantly.
"Are you trying to twist black into white?"
Wang Liguo completely failed to notice that the atmosphere in the VIP area was completely wrong.
"What twisting black into white? You were having illicit affairs in the company. How many people have you slept with? Lin Xiaomeng, Sun Nana, and many female clients—I didn't say anything to save your face!"
Chen Hao couldn't hold back any longer and slapped him across the face.
"Slap!" This slap was loud and shocking.
The entire bustling restaurant gradually quieted down, with almost all the guests staring fixedly at the VIP area.
"Chen Hao, you dare hit me!" Wang Liguo still tried to bluster. According to his logic, whoever made the first move was in the wrong.
Unexpectedly, CEO Wei threw a wine glass over, which shattered right on Wang Liguo's face.
"What dog dares to shout in front of me? I don't want to see him!" The Bodyguards rushed forward and restrained Wang Liguo with practiced efficiency.
"In broad daylight, is there no law left? Chen Hao, you shameless scoundrel! You framed me and then dared to hit someone. I'm going to sue you!"
Chen Hao was truly disgusted by such a thick-skinned and shameless person.
"CEO Wei, could you please do me a favor?"
"Tell me."
Chen Hao glared fiercely at Wang Liguo; he had brought this upon himself.
"CEO Wei, please have your secretary make Wang Liguo's background check public. I want everyone attending the conference to know he is a fraud."
"Easy to say."
CEO Wei gave a look, and Shayiva, who had been accompanying him, immediately took out a tablet computer, preparing to connect it to the restaurant's big screen.
"No! Chen Hao, what are you trying to do?"
Chen Hao said with a cold face.
"I want everyone to know that you are a fraud."
Wang Liguo tried to struggle, but the Bodyguards were well-trained and offered no resistance.
Ma Botao tried to interject a few words, but CEO Wei immediately warned him,
"Shut up! If you dare say one more word, I'll make sure you go bankrupt immediately!"
Ma Botao immediately fell silent.
Thus, after negotiations between Shayiva and the organizers, the connection was made to the big screen, and Wang Liguo's background check information was made public.
"Whoa!" The entire audience erupted in an uproar, pointing and gossiping about Wang Liguo.
Setting aside other things, Wang Liguo's actions in Silicon Valley—cooperating with the union to cause trouble against the company, biting the hand that fed him—were enough to earn universal disdain.
Then looking at his time working for a major domestic company, where he turned a large enterprise into a chaotic mess, causing market value to evaporate and morale to collapse. During the most difficult period, he led the employees to resign en masse.
Calling him a jinx would be insulting a comet. Such a petty person was the most detestable existence in Huaguo; no businessman liked him.
