It was a false alarm.

"This is her sister," Li Wei said in a low voice.

Qin Bing walked up to Qin Xue, and the two stood there talking. Although he didn't know what they were saying, judging by their body language, Qin Xue had been relatively calm at first. But soon, it seemed they started arguing. Qin Xue kept gesturing with her hands, looking quite agitated. Qin Bing, on the other hand, stood straight with her arms crossed, looking like two needles clashing.

"Are those sisters fighting?" the young security guard asked.

Li Wei didn't speak, instead fixing his gaze on the Man in Black. He saw that the moment Qin Bing appeared, the Man in Black pulled his hat brim lower and left, specifically taking a route through a blind spot with no surveillance cameras.

Li Wei's heart skipped a beat. That sense of unease grew stronger. What did this mean? It meant the Man in Black was extremely familiar with the hospital, likely having scoped it out beforehand.

A few minutes later, Qin Bing turned and walked angrily toward the parking lot, driving away from the hospital shortly after. Qin Xue remained standing there, head bowed. After a while, she also crossed the zebra crossing at the main entrance and disappeared from sight.

"Switch to the outside surveillance," Li Wei said.

Old Zhang shook his head. "The outside surveillance isn't under our hospital's management."

"Damn it," Li Wei cursed.

Just then, the young security guard suddenly said, "Look, that Man in Black has appeared again!"

Sure enough, in the footage, the Man in Black this time unexpectedly zoomed out from the hospital's side gate on an off-road motorcycle, quickly following the direction where Qin Xue had disappeared.

"This guy definitely has issues!" Old Zhang stood up.

"Dr. Li, should we call the police?"

Li Wei shook his head. "It hasn't even been an hour since she went missing; it doesn't meet the criteria for filing a case."

And if the Man in Black really intended to harm Qin Xue, waiting for 24 hours would mean Qin Xue's innocence would have long been lost. Therefore, this period of time was the most critical.

He turned to look at the two security guards. "Gentlemen, listen to me."

"You've seen it too; my girlfriend might be in danger right now."

"I have a proposal."

"I'd like to ask all the hospital security guards, those on duty or off, to help."

"It's ten thousand yuan per person."

"Search in the direction where my girlfriend disappeared; whoever finds her first gets five hundred thousand yuan."

Both security guards were stunned.

"Are you kidding?" Five hundred thousand was an enormous sum for them.

The young security guard swallowed hard. Old Zhang, however, frowned.

"Dr. Li, it's not that I don't want to help, but this goes against hospital regulations, and furthermore, we can't just leave our posts."

"Twenty thousand per person," Li Wei raised the price.

"One million for whoever finds her first."

The young security guard gasped. Old Zhang hesitated. "This..."

"I know you have your difficulties," Li Wei took a deep breath.

"How about this then: help me contact the security guards off-shift and have them help search. The price remains the same."

Old Zhang thought for a moment. "I can help you ask about that."

"Thank you," Li Wei said.

The security guard named Old Zhang was just about to pick up his walkie-talkie when the young security guard suddenly pointed at the real-time surveillance screen.

"Dr. Li, look! Is that your girlfriend?"

Li Wei turned his head sharply. In the real-time footage, thirty minutes after Qin Xue had left, a graceful figure walked in through the hospital's main entrance. Although it was only a side profile, Li Wei recognized her at first glance.

"Yes, that's her."

Li Wei let out a sigh of relief. He specifically observed Qin Xue's gait and body movements; she didn't seem to have been harmed. Moreover, the Man in Black hadn't followed her.

"Thank goodness, I owe you both for this."

"Tell you what, I'll go pick her up first, and I'll come back later to personally give you guys a reward."

He turned and rushed out of the surveillance room.

...

At the hospital entrance, Qin Xue stood on the steps, looking down at her phone. The battery had finally reached 70%.

Her phone had died earlier, and after leaving Li Wei's home, she had come straight to the hospital, completely forgetting her charger. She had no choice but to find a fast-charging shop outside.

She hadn't expected to run into her sister, Qin Bing, at the entrance. She had originally been thinking about whether her words that morning had been too harsh and wanted to properly explain things to her sister. However, as soon as Qin Bing opened her mouth, she said Li Wei wasn't a good person.

She even claimed Li Wei was likely a key figure in a case from last night, using brutal methods that left seven or eight large men either dead or injured, and told her to stay away from Li Wei.

From her sister's subsequent words, Qin Xue learned that the so-called "brutal" person had indeed injured people, but had also saved over a dozen children. He had even been injured while saving the children. In her eyes, he was undoubtedly a hero.

The two argued about this again, and in the end, she parted ways with her sister on bad terms once more.

Qin Xue sighed. She looked at her phone, hesitating over whether to call Li Wei. Although she didn't know if the person who saved the children was Li Wei, she always felt... it should be him.

Because even though her sister liked to view people through colored glasses, she still possessed criminal investigation skills, especially after hearing that the person had also sustained a shoulder injury.

But if she called, would he think she had other motives? Qin Xue bit her lip, indecisive.

Just then, rapid footsteps suddenly echoed at the hospital entrance. Qin Xue looked up.

A figure rushed out from inside, instantly locking onto her in the crowd. It was Li Wei.

Qin Xue's beautiful eyes widened instantly. She saw Li Wei rushing over like an enraged beast, and to her astonishment, he pulled her into his arms.

"Damn it, you scared the hell out of me!" Li Wei's voice rang in her ear, filled with clear anger and lingering fear.

Qin Xue was completely stunned. Her hands were held behind him, unable to embrace him back, neither hugging nor letting go.

"Didn't I tell you to be careful?" Li Wei hugged her tighter. "Didn't I tell you not to run around everywhere?"

Qin Xue came to her senses, feeling his intense heartbeat. Only then did she realize that he was so agitated and holding her in his arms because he was worried about her. The long-lost warmth suddenly made her nose feel sour.

"I'm sorry..." her voice was very soft. "My phone died, and I didn't bring a charger, so I went outside to charge it..."

Li Wei released her, placed his hands on her shoulders, and looked her up and down. "Are you hurt?"

Qin Xue shook her head. "No."

Li Wei finally let out a sigh of relief. But then he remembered something, and his expression darkened. "Did you feel like someone was following you just now?"

Qin Xue was stunned for a moment. "Following me?"

"A man in a black hoodie and a hat." Li Wei stared into her eyes. "Have you seen him?"

Qin Xue thought for a moment and shook her head. "No."

Li Wei furrowed his brows. Although he didn't know if it was Zhao Dazhuang, the Man in Black had clearly followed Qin Xue out of the hospital, so why didn't he act? Was it because there were too many people? Or... was he waiting for an opportunity?

"Don't run around alone in the future," Li Wei said in a serious tone. "Someone is targeting you."

Qin Xue's face turned pale. "What kind of person?"

"Just some small fry." Li Wei didn't want to burden her too much, so he could only say briefly, "Anyway, you can't go wrong if you listen to me."

Qin Xue nodded. "Are they with the ones who smashed the Studio?"

Li Wei didn't deny it. "Maybe! Anyway, be careful these next few days..."

Qin Xue bit her lip. "Li Wei, I'm sorry for causing you trouble."
