Serial explosions
"A crazed revenge!"
These words flashed instantly through Li Wei's mind.
Lin Tianhao was using the most extreme method to declare his unwillingness to surrender and his madness to everyone.
"Chen Xi!" Li Wei roared without looking back.
"Boss!" Chen Xi, who had remained calm throughout, immediately responded.
"Call the police immediately, dial 120!"
"Yes!" Without a moment's hesitation, Chen Xi immediately pulled out her phone and started dialing.
"Murong! Lock down the entire building, calm all the employees, and tell them to stay where they are and not to move around!"
Li Wei turned and walked quickly over to Murong Wan, who had just taken her seat at the head of the table but was now pale with fright.
"Don't be afraid." He pressed down on her cold shoulders, his voice steady and powerful.
"You are the chairperson here now; stabilize the situation and reassure the shareholders. Leave this place to you; I'm going down to take a look."
"I know, but it's too dangerous down there..." Murong Wan grabbed his hand, her eyes quickly regaining their composure.
"Rest assured." Li Wei patted the back of her hand. "I'm just going down to take a look; nothing will happen."
Murong Wan looked into his determined eyes and knew she couldn't stop him.
She gritted her teeth, quickly took a set of car keys from her handbag, and shoved them into Li Wei's hand.
"My car is parked on the B3 level. Just in case, see if you can use it."
Li Wei took the keys, gave her a deep look, and turned to rush out of the conference room.
He didn't wait for the elevator but instead charged straight into the emergency stairwell.
The metal stairs thundered loudly under his feet as he raced downward like a bolt of black lightning.
When he pushed open the fire door to the first-floor lobby, a strong stench of gasoline and blood rushed to meet him.
The lobby was packed with panicked crowds, and the sounds of screaming and crying were endless.
The security guards were trying their best to maintain order, preventing the crowd from rushing toward the dangerous accident scene outside.
Li Wei ignored all of this; he pushed through the crowd and charged straight out of the revolving door.
The scene before him was even more tragic than what he had seen from upstairs.
The front half of the ambulance was completely embedded in the bumper of the heavy-duty truck.
The front of the vehicle was twisted into a mangled mess, and the driver's side door had been knocked off, nowhere to be found.
Some bold, kind-hearted citizens had already gathered around.
Several people worked together to pull open the deformed rear door of the ambulance and dragged out the two medical personnel in white coats from inside.
Both of them were unconscious and covered in blood.
The police car was in slightly better condition, but it had also been knocked sideways for over a dozen meters, with a huge dent in its side and all its windows shattered.
Three Police Officers lay beside the police car.
Although they were covered in blood, they did not appear to have life-threatening injuries; they had simply temporarily lost the ability to move and were groaning in pain.
Meanwhile, on the other side, inside the cab of the heavy-duty semi-truck that had caused the accident, the driver was calmly watching everything before him.
His eyes were hollow, without a ripple of emotion, as if this tragic car accident had nothing to do with him.
Several angry citizens rushed up, violently pulled open the truck door, dragged him down, and pinned him firmly to the ground.
Li Wei's heart sank. This look, this reaction—it was one hundred percent a scapegoat, someone brought in to take the fall.
He quickly scanned the scene and soon spotted a familiar figure not far from the wreckage of the ambulance.
Qin Bing was kneeling on one knee, one hand supporting herself on the ground, the other clutching her forehead.
Fresh blood seeped through her fingers and slid down her cheek, adding a touch of tragic beauty to her cold, stunning face.
She was shaking her head vigorously, seemingly trying to keep herself conscious; the collision clearly had affected her as well.
"Hey, are you okay?" Li Wei walked quickly to her side.
Qin Bing looked up and, seeing it was Li Wei, her eyes glazed over for a moment before turning sharp again.
"Why did you come down?"
"To see how you're doing." Li Wei crouched down, looking at the wound on her forehead.
"It seems you're quite lucky; otherwise, I really wouldn't know how to explain it to your sister."
"Who asked you to..." Qin Bing was just about to flare up, but the movement aggravated her wound, causing her to gasp in pain.
She couldn't be bothered to bicker with Li Wei and struggled to stand up. Pointing at the ambulance that was still emitting white smoke, she said urgently,
"Since you're here, hurry! Go check on Lin Tianhao! He... he was receiving emergency treatment in the car just now..."
Li Wei frowned and was just about to step forward to check. Just then. BOOM!!!
An explosion even more terrifying than the previous collision sound erupted violently from inside the ambulance!
A massive orange-red fireball shot into the sky, mixed with thick black smoke and countless metal fragments, spreading wildly in all directions.
The ground of the entire plaza trembled because of it. The terrifying shockwave generated by the explosion sent surrounding vehicles flying, the building's glass curtain wall hummed from the vibration, and countless glass shards fell from the sky like raindrops.
Li Wei's expression changed drastically. He didn't have time to think, so he tackled Qin Bing to the ground, shielding her tightly with his own body.
A scorching blast of air whistled over their heads, carrying the scent of death.
The aftermath of the explosion gradually subsided, and the air was filled with a pungent smell of burning and thick smoke.
Li Wei felt a burning pain in his back; several flying metal fragments had shredded his expensive suit and embedded themselves into his flesh.
He let out a muffled groan and climbed off Qin Bing. "Hey, are you still alive?" He shook the person beneath him.
Qin Bing had been nearly crushed breathless by him and was now coughing violently. Her pretty face was blackened by thick smoke, and the blood on her forehead mixed with dust, leaving her in a disheveled state.
"Cough, cough... You... you trying to crush me to death!"
She pushed Li Wei away, struggled to sit up, and looked at the ambulance that had already turned into a massive fireball, completely stunned.
It was over. Lin Tianhao, this most important suspect, had just been blown to death like this? Didn't that mean all their previous efforts were in vain?
A surge of immense unwillingness and anger welled up in her heart, and Qin Bing's eyes instantly turned red.
"No, it can't end like this!" She roared, staggering as she prepared to rush toward the sea of fire.
"Are you crazy?" Li Wei was quick-witted and grabbed her by the waist from behind, holding her back.
"Let me go! He can't die! I have to catch him and bring him to justice!" Qin Bing struggled desperately in his arms, like an enraged leopard, kicking and punching.
"If you rush in now, you're just going to your death!!" Li Wei held her tightly, letting her fists rain down on him.
"I don't care! Whether he's alive or dead, I'm bringing him back!" Qin Bing's voice was laced with tears.
"Get a grip. Lin Tianhao might not even be in the car anymore." Li Wei's voice suddenly turned calm.
Qin Bing's struggle ceased. She turned her head, looking at Li Wei with bloodshot eyes, her expression full of disbelief. "You... what did you say?"
