Qin Bing's unique hobbies
"Thud!" A sound rang out.
Dr. Schmidt, standing to the side, felt his legs go weak and actually knelt straight down.
He looked at Li Wei with an expression that suggested he was no longer looking at a mere human.
His blue eyes were filled with fanaticism and piety, like a most loyal believer worshipping a god walking among mortals.
This sudden kneeling left both Qin Xue and Qin Bing completely stunned.
"Li Wei, he..."
Qin Xue instinctively wanted to ask.
Li Wei leaned back into her soft embrace, feeling the incredible elasticity, and waved his hand.
"Don't mind him. He probably just hasn't seen much and was scared witless by our ancestors' medical skills."
The two blonde Nurses Dr. Schmidt had brought with him looked at each other in bewilderment. Although they didn't understand Chinese, seeing their immediate superior kneel made them panic, and they stood there awkwardly.
Meanwhile, Qin Xue and Qin Bing could no longer spare any attention for the strangely behaving German.
Their focus returned once again to their mother on the hospital bed.
With just one look, both sisters' breathing stopped simultaneously.
"Mom..."
Qin Xue's red lips parted slightly, letting out a murmur like a dream.
In just an instant.
The woman on the bed, who had been so thin her features were distorted, with sallow and shriveled skin, looking twenty years older than her actual age, now seemed like a completely different person.
Her cheeks had become full and rosy, glowing with a healthy, white-jade-like luster.
Her eye sockets were no longer sunken, and her lips had regained their moist color.
Those deep furrows and wrinkles seemed to have been gently erased by time, leaving only a few shallow traces of mature charm at the corners of her eyes.
Her hair gradually turned from gray to black; combined with that face, she was clearly a well-maintained, still-charming beautiful woman!
In her sleep, her brow was relaxed, her breathing steady, and the corners of her mouth were even slightly upturned in a tranquil smile.
It wasn't hard to imagine how devastatingly beautiful this woman must have been in her youth.
The sisters Qin Xue and Qin Bing—one gentle, one cold—had almost perfectly inherited all of Lin Wanqiu's best features.
"This... this..."
Qin Xue was so excited she couldn't speak.
She covered her mouth as hot tears welled up and spilled over again.
However.
This time, they were tears of joy.
Qin Bing also stepped forward, reaching out a trembling hand to gently touch her mother's smooth, warm cheek.
That realistic touch caused her heart, which was usually like solid ice, to momentarily melt in one corner.
She suddenly turned her head to look at the man leaning in her sister's arms, pale-faced and drenched in sweat.
Her gaze was complicated to the extreme.
There was shock and gratitude, but even more so, there was confusion.
With Qin Xue's support, Li Wei slowly straightened his body.
He thought to himself.
"Pathology Eye."
[Ding! Target: Lin Wanqiu.]
[Status: Deep Soul Sleep (Recovering)]
[Analysis: 95% of dissipated soul energy has been recalled; 80% of brain neuronal synaptic connections have been repaired. The remaining portion requires the body to absorb energy on its own for slow self-repair.]
[Estimated waking time: Within 48 hours.]
Seeing the system's feedback, Li Wei's heart settled.
He looked at the nervous sisters and forced a small smile.
"Don't worry, your mother's body is no longer in any serious danger.
The damaged nerves are mostly repaired, but because she's been asleep for so long, her bodily functions still need a slow recovery process."
"I estimate she'll wake up within the next two days."
He paused, then turned to the two foreign Nurses who were still standing there blankly, and instructed them in fluent English.
"Closely monitor the patient's vital signs, especially EEG activity. Report any abnormalities to me immediately.
Furthermore, do not perform any invasive treatments. Quiet rest is what she needs most right now."
"Yes! Mr. Li!"
The two blonde Nurses seemed to have found their pillar of support and nodded quickly, their eyes also filled with awe as they looked at Li Wei.
Having finished his instructions, Li Wei felt sticky all over and extremely uncomfortable.
The operation just now had taken a massive toll on his mental and physical strength.
"I'm going to the restroom; I'm covered in sweat."
"Ah? Okay... alright."
Qin Xue snapped out of it, her pretty face flushing red as she realized Li Wei had just been pressed against her chest.
Qin Bing just stood there, watching Li Wei's back.
He was tall and upright; although he looked a bit weak at the moment, the aura of a powerful man that occasionally seeped out of him only made her feel more startled.
She remembered the scene at Blue Harbor that night, when this man had fought that monster Lü Xiangdong with his bare hands.
She remembered the deep, bone-exposing wounds on his body that had vanished without a trace in just a few days.
And she remembered the term Dr. Schmidt had just used, one that felt both familiar and foreign to her.
"Chi..."
Qi.
An absurd thought suddenly flashed through Qin Bing's mind.
She remembered back at the police academy, she had a roommate who spent all day clutching her phone and giggling—a fanatical web novel fan.
That roommate had once mysteriously told them that in this world, there existed unknown, special groups of people with extraordinary powers.
Some could control fire and water, while others possessed infinite strength.
To manage these people, the state had even established various mysterious departments.
The Dragon Group, Bureau 749, the Night Watcher... at the time, she had just treated it as a joke.
But now, when all of this was linked to the enigmatic man that was Li Wei...
That absurd thought was like wild grass growing out of control, impossible to suppress.
Could this man... also be one of those people?
This thought made Qin Bing's heart rate suddenly accelerate.
She glanced at her sister, who was still by the bed, immersed in joy while wiping their mother's hand.
Then she looked at the closed bathroom door.
As if possessed, she started walking quickly toward the bathroom... Inside, the room was filled with steam.
Li Wei unbuttoned his sweat-soaked shirt, revealing well-defined, powerful muscles.
He didn't rush to wash up, but first walked to the toilet to take care of a physiological need.
Between the intense mental concentration and the massive output of True Qi, his bladder had long been protesting.
However, just as he had pulled out his "gear" and was about to open the floodgates...
"Click!"
A soft sound.
The bathroom door was suddenly pushed open from the outside.
Immediately after, a vigorous silhouette darted in, and with a backhand motion, locked the door tight!
"Holy crap, who is it!"
Li Wei was so startled he nearly shriveled up on the spot.
The surging torrent was forcefully held back by him.
He whirled around, about to burst out in a curse.
But he saw that the person who entered was actually Qin Bing.
She was dressed in a black tracksuit, her pretty face tight, and those phoenix eyes that were always as cold as ice...
...were now staring fixedly at him, watching him with a gaze he couldn't quite comprehend.
"Qin Bing, this habit of yours is quite unique!"
Li Wei, seeing it was her, was fuming with anger.
What did this Little wildcat want to do?
Repay kindness with enmity? Or... was the drug taking effect again?
He didn't bother holding it in anymore; after all, they had done much more embarrassing things.
So he turned back around, aimed at the toilet, and continued his unfinished business.
