128: Calamity Beast, Corruption Beast

Tang Ping successfully acquired some secret manuals, which included methods for cultivating some low-grade Gu insects.

Through these, he also learned about the ranks of local Gu Masters on Blue Star, which were surprisingly similar to what he had read in the novice Gu Master manual from the Five Poisons Nest.

In fact, the so-called low-grade, mid-grade, and high-grade correspond to Levels 1-5.

Low-grade corresponds to Level 1 and Level 2 Gu insects.

Mid-grade corresponds to Level 3 and Level 4 Gu insects.

High-grade corresponds to Level 5 Gu insects.

According to records, it is said that rumors spoke of Spirit-grade Gu Masters centuries ago, but for a hundred years now, no information about Spirit-grade Gu Masters has been heard.

As for more ancient times, there were even higher-grade Gu Masters.

At the same time, through these secret manuals, Tang Ping finally learned more about Blue Star.

"I never expected Blue Star to have such a side in the past."

Tang Ping suddenly thought of what it would be like a hundred years later, sighing and shaking his head: "This is simply two extremes."

Indeed, the world a hundred years later bore no resemblance to the scenes described in these books from thousands of years ago.

Perhaps, only the Peach Blossom Spring Wonderland could offer a glimpse into that irrecoverable era of Blue Star.

However, the emergence of mysterious energy with contamination properties, coupled with various disasters, inevitably created a Wasteland world under the apocalypse.

Desolation and gloom would be the main themes of the future.

Suddenly, Tang Ping also thought about whether the dungeons he had visited corresponded to such a world, and whether that world also had other mysterious powers?

However, Tang Ping then recalled the first dungeon he had visited, a place called Safety Zone No. 9, several decades after the apocalypse, which was less than two or three tenths the size of a small Safe Zone in later generations.

Most likely, there were no other powers, and even if that world was also a Wasteland, Tang Ping could clearly feel that the Wasteland world of his own world a hundred years later was on a much higher level compared to the worlds in the dungeons!

He wondered if this had any connection to Blue Star's past.

He pushed these questions aside again; thinking about them was of no use to him.

How dungeons were born and what their relationship to Blue Star was, these were not things he could investigate.

Tang Ping simply suppressed this question in his heart; he felt there must be a great secret behind all this.

After adding Zuoqiu Chisheng as a friend, Tang Ping had the Great Emperor Moth land on the ground, preparing to use the Level Four Shelter scroll to upgrade his Shelter.

"Use the Level Four Shelter scroll!"

"Do you wish to consume one thousand shelter fragments and a Level Four Shelter scroll to upgrade your Shelter?"

"Yes!"

"Congratulations, Player! You have consumed one thousand shelter fragments and a Level Four Shelter scroll to successfully obtain a Level Four Shelter!"

Immediately, the two-story Shelter transformed into a three-story Shelter.

Tang Ping checked the Shelter's 3D structural diagram; indeed, the first, second, and third floors each had a hundred-square-meter living room. After the Great Emperor Moth folded its wings, it could even turn around inside. He directly left the third floor for the Great Emperor Moth as a pet nest; after all, it was so large, it wouldn't be fully utilized.

As for upgrading to a level five shelter, it would require a whopping ten thousand shelter fragments. He wondered when he would be able to collect them all.

Tang Ping put away the Shelter and surveyed his surroundings. This was a county town.

"I should have reached Handong Province by now."

This was the province to the east of Nanchuan Province.

He hadn't paid attention to the dungeons or anything else in this province, so he didn't plan to stay.

"Young man, save me!" A pregnant woman, clutching her belly, ran over in terror, her gaze fixed on Tang Ping as if he were a lifesaver. Clearly, this woman had seen Tang Ping's previous Level Four Shelter, which was why she came downstairs, but she was discovered by some Infected.

However, Tang Ping had no intention of saving her.

"Leave now, and I can pretend nothing happened." Tang Ping's gaze fell indifferently on the pregnant woman.

The pregnant woman seemed oblivious, continuing to plead for help, one hand clutching her belly, the other frantically waving, tears streaming down her face as she stumbled and ran, trying to evade the Infected behind her.

A flash of a blade, and the pregnant woman's body split in two. From her sleeve, a dagger glinting with dark purple light fell to the ground.

As for the pregnant woman's belly, it was empty, merely stuffed with clothes. Such a trick could never deceive Tang Ping's perception.

He picked up the dagger and the shelter item she had dropped, then his gaze fell on a spot not far away.

"Run!" The three people hidden behind the corner turned pale with shock. Seeing that their target was troublesome, they had no intention of avenging their companion and turned to flee.

Suddenly, the person running at the front tripped over a brick, and his body, by an unfortunate coincidence, hit his forehead on an exposed rebar in the wall. The rebar pierced his brain through his left eye, killing him instantly.

The person behind him was startled by this, lost his balance, and fell backward. A broken table leg pierced his heart.

The last man running slammed on the brakes, his eyes staring blankly at the absurd scene before him.

Roar! An Infected crawled out of a nearby shop doorway. While the man was momentarily stunned, it bit him on the neck. The intense pain awakened the man, but it was already too late.

The Infected tore at him wildly with several large bites, tearing off half of the man's neck in the blink of an eye.

Tang Ping arrived at this moment, an inconspicuous moth perched on his shoulder.

"Good heavens, is this the effect of the Heavenly Calamity Moth Gu on a few Level 2 Talent Users?"

Seeing the tragic scene before him, he, too, gasped in his heart.

He hadn't even lifted a finger, and three people who wanted to assassinate him and steal his Shelter had died so inexplicably.

The Infected devoured half of the man's head, then suddenly turned to look at Tang Ping and lunged.

Tang Ping's thought moved, wanting the Heavenly Calamity Moth Gu to use its ability on the Infected.

But the thought the Heavenly Calamity Moth Gu conveyed to him made him pause.

"A species rejected by heaven and earth, without luck, inherently plagued by ten thousand calamities. All calamities that fall upon this species will automatically merge into the sea of misfortune of its entire race, like a stone sinking into the ocean. In other words, it's useless against this thing?"

Tang Ping's gaze fell on the Infected. In its scarlet eyes, there was no intelligence, only chaos, bloodlust, and slaughter.

A species abandoned by heaven, plagued by ten thousand calamities.

"Doesn't this mean that the Infected are naturally immune to my Heavenly Calamity Moth Gu?"

The Heavenly Calamity Moth Gu also conveyed a feeling of frustration at this moment.

Clearly, it too was filled with confusion and even horror by this race; that earth-shattering sea of misfortune of the entire race was like a celestial garbage dump, making it tremble.

Tang Ping comforted Little Calamity: "It's alright, it's just an Infected. I'll kill it with a flick of my hand."

With a flick of his finger, a golden-red flame shot into the Infected's glabella, finally transforming into a raging inferno that burned it to ashes.

He picked up the shelter items of the three men and put them into his bag. A shocking corruption power suddenly spread from ahead. The walls around Tang Ping began to age under the influence of this power.

"This is a Calamity Beast, a Corrupted Beast?"
