405: Chapter 405 Finnegan's Betrayal

Tang Ping, in his capacity as a teacher, observed Mo Qi's growth and discovered that the kid was incredibly cautious.

Even though he already possessed power that could sweep across the world, he still had no intention of exposing himself, continuing to peacefully research various magics within the magic book tower.

By the end of the first semester, the boy, who had already mastered five types of level-eight lightning magic, still pretended to be a nobody. While others played the pig to eat the tiger, he was actually being a pig; his level-nine Magic Source appeared to be only at the level of level five or level six, causing many of his peers to lose interest in Mo Qi.

After all, in their eyes, he was just a useless slacker who slept in every class and spent his time after school wandering around with his bird and dog.

Of course, Mo Qi still clung tightly to Dean Gaius's support, revealing a portion of his talent; by the end of the first semester, he had shown three types of five-star magic.

This left Dean Gaius quite satisfied. By graduation, the boy would be at least a seven-star mage. A seven-star mage at twenty-six; by thirty-five, he would surely be an eight-star, having fully mastered his Magic Source.

He was only eighty-three now; protecting the boy for another thirty or forty years would be no problem at all.

"Good, very good. Dean Cimei, I have not failed your expectations; I have trained a qualified dean."

In this way, another four years passed for Mo Qi, reaching the final year of his second grade.

That year, he learned the nine-star lightning magic, the Holy Thunder Curse.

That year, his lightning talent broke through to Level Three. In this world, the power unleashed by Level Three was far more terrifying than he had imagined, even much stronger than a Nine-Star Archmage.

He could cast magic without any chanting, calling upon various powerful lightning forces at will. He even successfully cultivated several Heavenly King Secret Techniques. In Holy Heaven Mansion, the introductory parts of things like Heavenly King Secret Techniques were generally included in the basic curriculum for all students.

But even with just the introductory parts, he found the power they unleashed to be frighteningly strong.

Thus, Mo Qi guessed that this world might be at a much lower level than Blue Star.

Of course, no matter how low it was, it was still stronger than before he had transmigrated.

Mo Qi also learned several Heavenly King-level beast-taming abilities that could stimulate bloodlines and nurture Illusory Beasts. These were originally methods he had prepared in his past life to become a Phantom Beast Master, but now he used them to nurture the divine creatures here.

The seemingly ordinary little black dog and little white bird by his side were already powerful magical creatures comparable to eight-star mages, no weaker than dragons.

One was of the dark attribute, and the other was of the light attribute.

This feeling of being quietly invincible in the world brought Mo Qi immense satisfaction.

However, it was also in this year that a great upheaval occurred at the Magic Academy.

Finnegan, already 106 years old, actually launched a rebellion, leading five eight-star mages in a bold attack on Radiance House.

Finnegan's goal was the water of the God-given Magic Spring.

Because he was dying, yet he did not want to die.

"Finnegan, if you go back now, there is still room to make amends."

Dean Gaius stood before a castle that resembled a sharp sword.

"Go back? Hahaha! I have no choice left, Gaius. I am 106! 106 years old! I don't want to die. As long as you step aside and let me drink the water of the Magic Spring, I can promise you that I will no longer compete for the position of dean and can even help the academies merge!"

Dean Gaius sighed. "It's not that I won't give it to you, but the water of the Magic Spring... because the previous two deans died young, they had already consumed the remaining water and even overextended the spring. What remains now isn't even enough for one person, and it must be saved for the next dean."

"I don't believe you; that's just your excuse! How could the Magic Spring produce so little water!" Finnegan's face contorted. "No matter what, I will get that water. Block me and die, Gaius! You are no match for me!"

"Finnegan, if you really do this, you will be forever nailed to the pillar of shame in the history of magic."

"Hahahaha! Do you think I care about such things?"

"Since you are unwilling, then die!"

Finnegan struck the ground with his magic staff, and a scorching radiance erupted, containing the extremes of purification and destruction.

Dean Gaius looked solemn; he never expected Finnegan to go this far. But no matter what, he had to protect the Magic Spring—it was meant for Mo Qi.

As for the Magic Spring, after he had taken his portion, because of Dean Keila Gu's early death and Dean Cimei using the spring water to repair her body which had been eroded by darkness, the Magic Spring had been partially overextended. By the time it was passed to him, there was barely one portion left, which he had consumed.

Now, forty years later, because the Magic Spring had entered a period of recovery, it still hadn't accumulated a full portion. This was the truth; it would take at least another thirty years to gather enough for one person.

He absolutely would not allow Finnegan to take the remaining spring water. The effect of the Magic Spring was better the earlier it was consumed.

Once Finnegan obtained it, it would be difficult for that child, Mo Qi, to consume it before the age of sixty.

The eight-star mages beside Dean Gaius chanted together, and a magic barrier blocked that blinding radiance.

"Are you all going to follow Finnegan in rebellion as well?" Dean Gaius scrutinized the other five, but seeing three unfamiliar faces made him feel a faint sense of unease.

The other five eight-star mages did not answer, merely joining the attack to break the magic shield. Greed filled the eyes of three of them, and a strange black mist swirled within their Magic Sources.

Dean Gaius's expression grew heavy. When did the Dragon House gain five eight-star mages in addition to Finnegan!

One must know that the other three academies combined only had five eight-star mages.

Yet the Dragon House, including Finnegan himself, now had six eight-star mages.

This made him feel uneasy.

No matter how well Finnegan hid them, it was impossible to hide three eight-star mages from his notice.

Unless those mages were not from the Magic Academy.

Dean Gaius's heart pounded as an ominous suspicion arose.

"Oh no! Quickly, go protect the holy stone!"
