399: Chapter 399 Losoch, the Archmage of Light

"Can this thing really extend one's lifespan?"

A hoarse voice emanated from beneath the black magic robe.

"Rest assured. Healing magic, soul magic, life magic—which one of us here hasn't attained an extremely high level of mastery in these? Even at the Magic Academy, we would definitely rank in the top ten. Now that we have painstakingly researched this for twenty years, we will certainly succeed."

"It is merely sacrificing a few ants, nothing more."

The old mages' gazes fell upon the altar.

There lay twelve infants under a month old, and these infants were extremely extraordinary; they were all children born with a Source of Magic.

"Using the Sources of Magic as the eyes, the altar as the furnace, and the Blood Refinement Magic Circle as the fire, let us begin."

Waa! Waa! Waa!

The infants on the altar wailed, but the twelve dark mages surrounding them remained completely unmoved, all staring greedily at the children.

Wisps of pure vitality were gradually stripped away from these infants, and along with them, the pure magic within their Sources of Magic.

The bodies of these old mages seemed to rejuvenate, as their skin, which had been like the bark of a withered tree, began to become smooth and full.

However, it seemed that a strange black power, accompanying the life force and magic, was causing contamination on the bodies of these old mages.

Boom! Suddenly, a violent explosion rang out, the secret chamber was blown open, and brilliant sunlight poured down from above.

Losoqi, who had rushed over, had anger in his eyes: "Carter, Michela, what are you doing!"

Carter and Michela were the two mages in the first graduating class who were second only to him, their Sources of Magic infinitely close to Losoqi's.

Archmage Carter's eyes were sinister, yet his hands did not stop devouring life.

"Ahahaha! What am I doing! Losoqi, stop being so hypocritical here. Who doesn't know that you are the next Dean, having consumed the spring water of the God-given Magic Spring, and have no worries about your lifespan! Stop putting on this act; if you have the ability, then come!"

Black energy rolled across the ground as hundreds of undead skeletons crawled out from beneath the earth.

"This is a new magic I have developed, fusing soul magic and dark magic. I call it Necromancy. This is the first time I have truly displayed it in front of outsiders. Today, let the name of Archmage of Necromancy resound through the magic world!"

"Ahahaha!"

Archmage Carter's smile was manic, his eyes filled with madness. He did not seem at all surprised that the Magic Academy had found this place; in fact, he had prepared for it long ago.

Michela cackled strangely: "As one of the original three heroes, how could I, Michela, fall behind? Let me show you my ultimate creation of a lifetime: the Chimera!"

A massive monster, several tens of meters tall, crawled out from the basement, carrying a terrifying, chaotic aura.

It had a lion's head, a goat's head, and a dragon's head. Its body was that of a lion, covered in scales, and it possessed a tail resembling a python. A pair of huge dragon wings spread out, as if blotting out the sky.

Losoqi's expression changed drastically; both the necromancy and that terrifying creation were beyond his expectations, but at the same time, a wave of anger surged into his heart.

Each of those undead was refined using human bones and souls, and that Chimera was even more of a violation of the Academy's taboos!

"You group of evil fallen ones are not worthy of being mages!"

Losoqi waved his magic wand, and light bloomed from the sky, the golden radiance seemingly wanting to cleanse all the evil in the world.

The undead were the most affected, and the Academy mages, who had originally been at an absolute disadvantage, gradually began to turn the tide.

Seven powerful Academy teachers pinned down the Chimera, while Losoqi continued inward to save the twelve children.

"Holy Light Judgment!"

The dense magic within his Source of Magic boiled, and twelve holy swords composed entirely of light thrust toward the twelve dark mages.

At this moment, they had no choice but to take action to counter it.

These twelve dark mages were all leaders among the first or second graduating classes, with extremely high magical attainments, and with their incantations, they blocked the holy light swords.

Other magic that Losoqi had already been charging in his mouth was finally released at this moment.

"Heroes from the darkness, please protect the light once more, Holy Knight!"

Within the light, there was the clanking of iron armor; twelve Holy Knights, looking as if they were condensed from light, stepped out of the divine radiance, their swords pointing at the dark mages.

Carter's expression changed, and he exclaimed: "How is this possible! This holy magic only exists in legends; how can it truly exist!"

Losoqi sneered: "The foundation of the Academy is not something you can fathom."

Taking advantage of the Holy Knights pinning down the twelve dark mages, he quickly rescued the twelve children from the altar.

At this moment, these children's breathing was as faint as a cat's, their skin was wrinkled, their vitality was dried up, and their Sources of Magic were even withered. Originally, these twelve children had very good futures, but in their current condition, their souls were dim, and it was unlikely they could even live a normal life.

"You group of fallen dark mages, I will, in the name of the Academy, imprison your souls in the Abyss Purgatory forever!"

Losoqi was furious; he cast a powerful Light Heal to temporarily stabilize the twelve children's condition, then turned and charged toward the twelve dark mages.

"Hahaha, the name of the Academy! What are you? Just a slave to the Academy. Why, when we possess power, should we be restrained in front of those ants! Why, when we possess the most noble status, must we act like rats crossing the street, not daring to reveal our identities! What is the Academy! Ahahaha!"

Carter laughed manically: "I insist on using the power of magic to make those stupid ants afraid. Do you see? These hundreds of skeletons were once high and mighty nobles; now, they are nothing more than toys in my hands!"

"Hmph, arrogant. You have arbitrarily disrupted the rules of the magic world and the mortal world, and you still dare to speak such wild words. The Academy's rules were made for fallen ones like you. The Academy taught you magic, not to let you oppress commoners or disrupt the rules of the mortal world!"

Losoqi looked at the stubborn Carter and no longer held back.

"May the sun and moon shine forever, benevolent light, cleanse all the darkness in the world! Flower of holiness and radiance from the depths of the ancient darkness!"

Behind Losoqi, from within the light, a strange plant grew. As light and shadow ebbed and flowed, it seemed that one could see that seemingly unremarkable flower propping up the light of an entire era.

When the sunflower appeared, those skeletal undead all froze, their muddled soul-fires gradually calmed down, and finally, they turned into illusory soul-shadows, bowed to Losoqi, and slowly dissipated.

"The Holy Flower! The Holy Flower of the Dark Era! How can it exist!" Michela's face was twisted in a ferocious expression. As a mad scholar of magical creatures, he was incredibly obsessed with these things. He had once gone to search for the Holy Flower that propped up the light of the Dark Era, but unfortunately, there was nothing—it was as if it were just a delusion in the mouths of those ants.

The appearance of the Holy Flower caused the power of Losoqi, who was already proficient in light magic, to multiply even further.

This war, which was unknown to the secular world but left a glorious mark on the history of the Academy's magic, ultimately ended with the Academy's victory.

Unfortunately, in the end, Carter relied on strange necromancy to escape and eventually disappeared without a trace.

Michela was imprisoned in the Abyss Purgatory of eternal darkness, and that Chimera, with its powerful life force and near-immortality, was locked away in the depths of the Academy.

As for the twelve children, although they were rescued, they suffered permanent damage to their intelligence.

If not for their Sources of Magic being sufficiently powerful, their souls would have already perished.

Feeling guilty, Losoqi kept these twelve children at the Magic Academy and raised them personally.

After this battle, Angel abdicated and officially passed the position of Dean of the Magic Academy to Losoqi, this legendary light mage.
