293: Zombie Horde Outbreak
"How many have you guys killed? We can't go any deeper; if we do, we'll soon reach the places where those Infected gather."
The burly man pulled out the knife from the Infected's neck, then severed its head and put it into his Shelter.
Beside the burly man were four companions, all covered in blood.
"I've gotten over a hundred heads; it's enough for me to advance to Level Three," the limping man said with excitement in his eyes.
"I also have enough for Level Three. When I go back and exchange them for contribution points, I plan to get some healing medicine and some immortal grass to improve my attributes," the woman with the melon seed face wiped her knife, then, with a look of obsession, grabbed several Infected heads from the ground that were still chattering their jaws.
"Alright, let's go back and improve our strength first," the burly man nodded and quickly rushed towards the base.
Just as they moved, the ground behind them suddenly trembled, and a sharp roar sent a chill through the five people, straight to their very souls.
"The Corpse Tide has erupted!"
"Run, run!"
The burly man suddenly sped up, cold sweat beading on his forehead from excessive fear, his hands and feet growing cold.
His four companions behind him reacted a bit slower, but they immediately ran for their lives too.
How did the Corpse Tide suddenly erupt? It had already been half a month since the Star Council Alliance was established, but the Infected gathered in the core area of Jiangcheng City had always been quiet. These days of quiet had led too many Talent Users, whose heads were turned by contribution points, to risk entering the city's interior.
The Infected were extremely fast, moving on all fours like cheetahs, sweeping through everything in their path like a black tide.
"Save me, save me!" Several people rushed out from the side, trying to beg the burly man and his group for help, but the five people acted as if they hadn't heard, only fleeing for their lives. Those few people looked back at the increasingly close Infected, their eyes filled only with despair. Because they wanted to hunt more Infected, they had all exhausted their Exotic Energy and originally planned to recover on the spot before continuing to hunt. But no one expected the Corpse Tide to suddenly erupt.
The Corpse Tide swallowed the few people, with only a momentary scream, flesh and blood flying everywhere, and everyone disappeared in the blink of an eye.
As the burly man and his four companions fled, more and more Talent Users appeared around them, all rushing outwards. However, many of them had consumed a great deal of Exotic Energy while fighting the Infected. As for experience stones that could restore Exotic Energy, only a few people had them; most people had long used their experience stones to enhance their own strength.
The Corpse Tide spread too quickly, and its numbers were terrifying, seemingly endless.
"I, I can't go on," the limping man was the first to give out. Seeing that none of his companions, with whom he had faced life and death, paid him any mind, he struggled to keep up, pleading, "Save me, I don't want to die! I don't want to die."
But none of the four people he had fought with earlier turned to look at him.
The closest person in front of the limping man was the woman with the melon seed face: "Sister Meng, my dear sister, please save me. If you save me, all my contribution points are yours, all yours!"
Upon hearing this, the woman with the melon seed face tensed up, seemingly afraid that the other person would drag her down to die with him. A bead appeared in her hand. She gritted her teeth and used her remaining Exotic Energy to activate the bead, instantly creating some distance between herself and the limping man.
"No, don't!" The limping man's speed grew slower and slower, his Exotic Energy completely depleted. The roar of the Corpse Tide behind him seemed to be right in his ears. Looking at the Corpse Tide getting further and further away from him, resentment appeared in the limping man's eyes. "Why didn't you save me? Why didn't you save me!"
"Then let's die together!"
An Infected pounced on him, biting the limping man's neck, but the limping man laughed crazily: "Hahaha, let's die together!"
His body suddenly exploded. With the limping man's death, and whatever he used before he died, more than a dozen black wisps chased after the dozen people in front. The closest person was caught by a black wisp and instantly bound.
"What is this!" The middle-aged man was terrified, trying to break free, but several Infected had already pounced and were tearing at him.
The shrill screams sent shivers down the spines of the fleeing people around him.
Someone couldn't help but curse, "Madman! Madman!" A similar black wisp was chasing him from behind, but no matter how angry he was now, he had to solve the problem of being caught by the black wisp. The wind around his feet suddenly intensified, but he still couldn't shake it off. The man gritted his teeth, turned around, and a black blade appeared in his hand. Exotic Energy poured into it madly, then he let out a loud shout, and a black wind blade slashed out, dispersing the black wisp. However, the man's face clearly paled a bit, but he couldn't bother with anything else, only quickly turned to continue running.
In just three or four seconds, four or five people were entangled by black wisps, and finally, with a scream, were engulfed by the Corpse Tide.
The burly man's eyes showed anger. He hadn't expected that limping man, even in death, would try to drag them down with him!
He suddenly turned around, his body undergoing a beast transformation, his face resembling a tiger's. A deafening roar echoed, and the black wisps that were about to catch up instantly paused, then trembled a few times before dissipating and disappearing.
The woman with the melon seed face didn't have so many trump cards, and her own strength wasn't particularly powerful. She gritted her teeth and targeted a little girl next to her. As the black wisp was about to approach her, she instantly grabbed the little girl and threw her behind her. The black wisp wrapped around the little girl. Before she died, the little girl's big eyes were still wide, filled with disbelief.
"I'm sorry, big sister just wants to live," the woman with the melon seed face whispered, then continued to flee with her head down.
The sky suddenly brightened, and Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water converged. All four were top-tier A-rank Talents! Yet these four powerful Exotic Energies were all surrounding one person.
One of the Star Council Alliance's Senior Councilors,
The Second Seat of Xingyao Survivor Base, the de facto ruler, Seat of Wang!
This was how the outside world referred to this woman. In Jiangcheng City and even in the surrounding several municipal areas, Seat of Wang was known by everyone.
Her own strength was unparalleled, and she controlled a large base. Even the Head of Andong Safe Zone in nearby Andong City would respectfully address her as Seat of Wang.
When two elements appeared, they suppressed ordinary S-Rank Talent Users with no ability to fight back. When three elements appeared, she was almost invincible. As for all four elements appearing together, no one had ever seen it, but now, the people below saw it. However, the four forces produced a mysterious resonance; just by looking at it, they felt as if their souls were being torn apart, their consciousness becoming chaotic. Everyone quickly lowered their heads again.
At this moment, the vortex cloud formed by the four attribute Exotic Energies was accumulating in the sky. The Corpse Tide in this direction on the ground seemed to feel the terrifying pressure, all stopping, their bodies tensed, roaring at the sky.
Under Seat of Wang's feet was a water-fire giant python, dozens of meters long with eight wings on its back. This giant python alone inspired awe in countless people, as it had once devoured more than one Level Four Calamity Beast.
The water-fire eight-winged snake flicked its forked tongue, its one blue and one red snake eyes gazing at the dense mass of Infected on the ground.
Before Seat of Wang could make a move, massive waves of water surged up, engulfing the Infected, and hundreds of fireballs in the sky fell like meteors.
Level Five, it was a Level Five Exotic Beast.
"We're saved." This thought echoed thankfully in the hearts of the hundreds of people in this direction.
