77: Worm Wasteland - Giant Worm (Part 1)

“The doomsday treasure chests are easy to find here.”

Tang Ping had just picked up another doomsday treasure chest; this was the fifth doomsday treasure chest he had found in half an hour.

Thanks to his speed and keen mental power, his chances of finding treasure chests were greater than others.

A message popped up on his panel from Wu Zhenhai.

He, Wu Zhenhai, and Chen Pingliang had already split up, which made it easier to find treasure chests, but they weren't far apart, all staying in the vicinity.

Wu Zhenhai: “Uncle Xiao Tang! There’s an Earth Worm nest here with over a dozen treasure chests, but there are many King Worms that I can’t handle!”

Tang Ping: “A nest? Good, I’ll be right there!”

“Old Wu actually found an Earth Worm nest.” His eyes gleamed with excitement. Nests usually contained one to two dozen treasure chests, and most crucially, there was a high possibility of finding King Worms in their metamorphosis stage.

That is, the pupae before they transform into Great Emperor Moths!

If utilized well, this item could cultivate a Mutant comparable to an A-rank Talent Holder, making it extremely precious.

Tang Ping was very fast. By the time he reached Wu Zhenhai’s location, Chen Pingliang, who was not far from Wu Zhenhai, had already arrived.

“Uncle Xiao Tang, it’s this place, look.” Wu Zhenhai pointed ahead to a small basin formed by clustered strange rocks.

The small basin was about five hundred meters wide, surrounded by strange rocks ranging from several meters to dozens of meters tall, enveloping the basin like clutching claws.

And inside the small basin, as well as on those towering strange rocks, there were dense, numerous wormholes everywhere, some as small as a fist, others as wide as seven or eight meters!

The dozen or so treasure chests Wu Zhenhai mentioned were in the center of the basin.

However, the surroundings were swarming with Earth Worms, even many King Worms, and it was unknown how many more worms were underground.

“Uncle Xiao Tang, can we get these treasure chests?” Wu Zhenhai’s eyes were full of longing. Whether they could succeed this time depended on Uncle Xiao Tang; otherwise, he and Old Chen really couldn't do it.

Although Old Chen could sneak into the shadows, because his Talent was only level 2, he couldn't stay in the shadows for long. Such a long distance made it impossible to reach the treasure chests in one go.

“Simple.”

“Then what’s Uncle Xiao Tang’s plan?”

“Plan? Just kill our way through.”

Tang Ping jumped down. As soon as he stepped into the Earth Worm territory, the unfamiliar aura instantly agitated the Earth Worms. Grayish-white bodies wriggled out of the holes one after another.

Their mouths, lined with rings of serrated fangs, immediately launched an attack on him!

Boom! Golden-red, scorching flames instantly erupted, directly incinerating the surrounding Earth Worms into ash, leaving only a pile of teeth.

These Earth Worms, individually, could be killed even by ordinary people.

And his golden-red flames were a Level 4 A-Rank Talent!

Flame Blaze bloomed, adding a vibrant splash of color to this monotonous world.

Yet beneath this splash of color was a merciless slaughter.

Tang Ping charged in alone, or more accurately, without a gun or a horse, just brute-forcing his way through!

Wherever he passed, the ground's rocks were scorched red, preventing the Earth Worms from even getting close, let alone burrowing through. They would probably turn into roasted worms on a hot plate in minutes.

Behind him, Wu Zhenhai swallowed: “Old Chen, are we still going in?”

Chen Pingliang stared at the scorching rocky ground, looked at his own feet, and subtly pulled them back: “No.”

Wu Zhenhai nodded in agreement: “Good idea, I also think we should stay here and guard the surroundings for Uncle Xiao Tang, just in case anyone comes.”

“What level and type of Talent do you think Uncle Xiao Tang has?” Wu Zhenhai asked, suddenly curious.

Chen Pingliang’s short stature, shrouded by his flat-brimmed fedora, his eyes flickered: “I suspect Uncle Xiao Tang might have more than one Talent, very possibly two Talents! And both Talents should be of a higher level than ours.”

“More than one Talent!” Wu Zhenhai exclaimed, but upon careful reflection, it seemed to make some sense. For instance, the extremely scorching golden-red flames before them, and that eerie Talent that killed people invisibly by making fiery red lotuses appear in others' eyes, indeed seemed like two distinct Talents.

“Gulp.” Wu Zhenhai swallowed, his eyes filled with envy: “I really don’t know how Uncle Xiao Tang leveled up to this extent all by himself.”

He, with a B-Rank Talent, was still only level 2, and he still needed over thirty experience stones to upgrade to level 3.

At this moment, Tang Ping, who had already charged into the basin, was no longer hindered by the jagged strange rocks, and his flames spread even more fiercely!

But here, some King Worms also appeared. These King Worms were each as thick as a bucket and three to five meters long, with mouths full of spiral-serrated teeth that could suddenly open like an umbrella. Even a tiger on Blue Star would not escape from the mouth of these King Worms.

The King Worms had some blood-red striped patterns on their bodies. The more patterns, the older the King Worm and the stronger its power.

Generally, a King Worm over ten years old would be entirely blood-red.

If it had enough potential or an unexpected opportunity, it would have a chance to transform into a Great Emperor Moth.

Not every King Worm has the chance to become a Great Emperor Moth, such a powerful Pollution Beast.

More often, they become Giant King Worms, those Giant King Worms whose bodies are like a minivan, over ten meters long.

Clearly, there were Giant King Worms in this worm nest.

Because without Giant King Worms, it would be impossible for there to be seven to eight-meter-wide holes.

A Giant King Worm, like a wall, blocked Tang Ping’s path.

Tang Ping narrowed his eyes. This Giant King Worm was notoriously thick-skinned and incredibly tenacious.

The golden-red flames retracted, gathering on the Tang Dao in his hand.

The entire Tang Dao became like a red-hot branding iron.

Facing such a giant beast, a wide spread of flames clearly wouldn't work.

The Giant King Worm’s mouth opened, its rows of barbed teeth sending shivers down one’s spine, inducing trypophobia.

A sharp, piercing roar indicated the Giant King Worm’s fury, as it slammed down towards Tang Ping.

If Tang Ping were to be hit squarely by the Giant King Worm, whose body was as wide as a minivan, he would be flattened into a meat patty.

However, Tang Ping's speed was very fast!

He pushed off the ground, suddenly leaped sideways, and swung his Tang Dao with the momentum!

The golden-red flames formed a crescent shape, fully three meters long!

This was the secret technique of the third part of the Flame Blade technique, Flame Moon Slash!

At this moment, Wu Zhenhai, standing outside, was trembling in his legs, sweat beading on his forehead: “Good, good thing I didn’t go in. Damn it, a dozen doomsday treasure chests, and you give me this level of difficulty!”

Chen Pingliang was also tense: “If this worm were outside, one of them would probably cause heavy losses to Yuntian Base!”

“Do you think this thing will appear in our world in the future?” Wu Zhenhai suddenly blurted out this thought.

“Hard to say,” Chen Pingliang murmured.

“Hopefully, it won’t appear.”
