100: Chapter 100 Chaos Space Marines
Over the next week, Xia Xingchen's First Division launched a frantic assault on every corner of the Spaceport.
During the bloody skirmishes with Khorne's mortal troops, the First Division's close-quarters combat capabilities saw a qualitative leap.
Those who survived were essentially capable of taking on three other Astra Militarum soldiers of the same intake in hand-to-hand combat.
Because those who could not fight one against many had already died under the butcher's blades of Khorne's mortal troops.
At this point, only two areas remained under the control of forces other than Xia Xingchen's: one was the command room, and the other was the Space Cargo Elevator.
These two locations could essentially be understood as the lair of Khorne's mortal troops within the Spaceport.
The number of defenders far exceeded the estimates of Xia Xingchen's troops.
Initially, the Commander of the First Division and several regimental Commanders estimated that there were at most a thousand Khorne mortal troops guarding the area.
But in reality, they did not know that the troops stationed there were not ordinary chaos minions, but the true elite of Khorne's mortal demon army, with Chaos Space Marines mixed among them.
The First Division directly deployed a portion of its armored strength: ten Chimera armored vehicles and two Leman Russ Tank units.
After deliberation, the Commander of the First Division submitted an operational report designating the Space Cargo Elevator as the priority target for capture.
The reason was simple: as long as the Space Cargo Elevator remained under the control of Khorne's mortal troops, they could continuously transport reinforcements from the surface.
Troy Planet was different from Vanad Planet.
The operation on Vanad Planet was a surprise attack, and the surface Planetary Defense Force of Vanad Planet had been completely caught off guard.
But Troy was different; the Khorne rebels here had long been prepared, and as soon as there was any trouble at the Spaceport, they would immediately send reinforcements through the Space Elevator.
Capturing the Space Elevator was urgent.
This time, the force deployed by Xia Xingchen reached an entire regiment.
Combined with armored forces, the total strength reached over five thousand troops.
The force of over five thousand men marched menacingly toward the interior.
When they arrived at the perimeter of the Space Cargo Elevator, they found that the place was hung with skulls decorated by Khorne with blood, and the surrounding walls were painted with huge eight-pointed star symbols by Chaos Cultists, with a thick smell of blood and rust permeating the air.
Just as Xia Xingchen's troops entered the final gate, the scouts acting as the vanguard were leading their squads forward.
A large number of fanatics rushed out from the darkness like a tide.
Before the scouts could react, the scout in the very front had his bulletproof vest pierced directly by a fanatical Khorne cultist with a Power Axe.
Several comrades behind him immediately drew their laser gun units and opened fire on the front.
What they held were standard Imperial M36 laser gun units, whose firepower was weakened compared to the Lucius-pattern laser gun, but it was enough to resist the Khorne rebels who only had melee weapons in their hands.
However, the will and combat effectiveness of the Khorne rebels far exceeded the scouts' imagination.
Xia Xingchen's soldiers watched helplessly as some fanatics were pierced with a dozen bloody holes, yet they still roared and rushed up, slashing at the scouts fiercely.
The remaining scouts had no choice but to fight while retreating, while recording the intelligence here.
After obtaining the scouts' intelligence, the command headquarters determined that the entire Space Elevator area had only one entrance and exit.
That left only one option: a frontal assault.
This time, the Leman Russ Tank units took the lead.
Two Leman Russ Tank units advanced side by side, their heavy tracks crushing the broken bones and shell casings all over the ground, followed by heavy infantry armed with hellgun units.
The fanatical cultists tried to repeat their old tricks, but as soon as they rushed out, they were riddled with holes by the side heavy machine guns on the Leman Russ Tank units.
Even if there were any survivors, they would be cleaned up one by one by the infantry behind.
When the troops rushed near the Space Elevator, everyone clearly noticed something was wrong.
The firepower erupting from the darkness far exceeded that of ordinary chaos armies.
Before a heavy infantryman holding a hellgun could react, a bolt penetrated his brain directly.
Before anyone else could react, a second and third bolt followed in succession.
They were like precise grim reaper scythes, ruthlessly harvesting the lives of Xia Xingchen's soldiers.
The frontline Commander immediately discovered the anomaly and immediately directed the Leman Russ Tank units to accelerate, while firing violently at the source of the firepower ahead.
A dull sound of metal hitting the ground quickly came, and something was approaching rapidly in the darkness.
When they appeared under the light, everyone finally saw clearly: standing before them was a group of warriors at least two meters tall, covered in heavy power armor, and painted in blood-red.
The armor was primarily dark red and black, with twisted runes of the Blood God etched onto the shoulder and chest plates.
Without the slightest hesitation, these Chaos Space Marines quickly relied on their own powerful mobility to rapidly approach the Leman Russ Tank units.
The Bolter units in their hands never stopped during the assault, their muzzles spitting blood-red flames, firing desperately.
Soon, the infantry around the Leman Russ Tank units were wiped out by the berserkers.
Two traitorous Astartes cooperated with each other; one attracted the tank's fire, while the other nimbly jumped onto the turret of the Leman Russ Tank and pried open the hatch with a Power Axe.
Subsequently, a melta bomb was thrown inside, and the huge explosion instantly turned the entire Leman Russ Tank into burning rubble.
Just as the two Astartes nodded to each other, preparing to repeat the action.
Suddenly, a high-heat ray from a hellgun lashed across one of their faces.
The Warp gave them powerful bodies and terrifying evil energy, so this attack did not cause much damage to them, but it distracted them for a moment.
This moment of time gave the other Leman Russ Tank unit a chance to react.
The turret quickly swiveled to aim, and an armor-piercing shell was instantly fired.
The hundred-millimeter caliber artillery shell instantly blasted through the chest of a Chaos Space Marine.
Even the powerful combat effectiveness bestowed by Khorne and the evil energy of the Warp could not save him.
The Chaos Space Marine on the other side saw this and immediately forced his way through the soldiers' firepower, quickly rushing to the front of this Leman Russ Tank unit.
He knew that the only thing on the scene that could threaten him was this tank.
The Chaos Space Marine threw a high-explosive grenade precisely into the barrel of the Leman Russ Tank.
The massive explosion simultaneously disabled the tank's main gun and turret.
Subsequently, this Chaos Space Marine drew his Power Axe and, like cutting vegetables, charged into the formation of Xia Xingchen's army.
A humanoid tank charging into a group of ordinary people was, without a doubt, a massacre for the Astra Militarum soldiers in front of him. But for this traitorous Astartes, it was just an ordinary battle in his millennia of time.
With every swing of the Power Axe, blood mixed with chunks of flesh splashed onto his body. The blessing from Khorne caused the pleasure in his heart to rise continuously.
But he also felt strange: these soldiers in front of him were clearly seeing an Astartes for the first time, their eyes revealing undisguised fear, and even though their officers had been executed by him, they still maintained the formation required by training while fighting.
It was not until a cold order to retreat came from the very back that the soldiers hurriedly ran backward.
The last surviving Chaos Space Marine did not pursue; he looked at all this coldly.
The surroundings were already piled with mountains of corpses.
For thousands of years, he had seen scenes like this countless times. Now, the battle brother who had accompanied him for nearly a hundred years was dead, but who cared? Once on the path of Chaos, there was no turning back; perhaps in the next battle, he would be the one to die.
This Chaos Astartes returned to the Space Elevator.
The task given to them by their Chaos Lord was to guard this place and not let any Imperial force capture the Space Cargo Elevator.
He belonged to the Blood-Sucking Warband, the Chapter Master was Butcher Kargos, known as the "Blood-Spiller".
The Blood-Sucking Warband hated all Chaos gods other than Khorne.
Because they would truly dispose of any other Chaos Cultists who did not worship Khorne.
The home planet of the Blood-Sucking Warband was located in the Heart of Skulls, a star dyed red by blood, where they had built a large number of combat fortresses.
This time, it was an envoy of Khorne who personally ordered them to come here to assist Xue Shatian and obey the orders of Xue Shatian.
Although Chapter Master Kargos was dissatisfied, he still came.
Because he could feel that if he could satisfy the Blood God this time, he would have a chance to ascend to daemonhood.
For this, Kargos brought nearly half of the warband's strength: including nearly five hundred Chaos Space Marines, plus one hundred Terminators.
Upon learning of the battlefield situation, the First Division Commander quickly judged that the existence inside, two meters tall and wearing power armor, should be the legendary Astartes Monk.
The First Division Commander reported this news to the Supreme Commander, Xia Xingchen.
After receiving the news from the First Division, Xia Xingchen could not believe it.
What did it mean that an Astartes Monk had appeared on the battlefield?
"What should we do now? The appearance of an Astartes on the battlefield means this is definitely not an ordinary rebellion."
All previous suspicions could now be explained:
Why did Inquisitor Kolo not use Exterminatus to directly wipe out this planet? Clearly, there was something extraordinary on this planet.
Xia Xingchen immediately passed this news to Inquisitor Kolo.
After receiving the news, Inquisitor Kolo immediately asked if Xia Xingchen had the ability to handle it, and offered to help.
Xia Xingchen indicated that he had the ability to handle it all.
After sending the message, a new message soon appeared on the communication panel from the First Division Commander:
[Archon, our second batch of assault troops is ready, and this time we will definitely capture the Space Elevator.]
Xia Xingchen clicked agree.
Inside the Spaceport, the First Division Commander looked at the remnants of the First Regiment, combined them with the Second Regiment, and reorganized a reinforced assault force.
At the very front of the line, six Hydra heavy main battle tanks emitted a low engine roar, their barrels slowly lifting, aiming at the dark passage ahead.
This time, they would let Chaos know that the Empire's steel torrent was unstoppable.
