8: Chapter 8 The Technologist - Nuwa

dream star

After Xia Xingchen returned to the dream star, his first order of business was to hold a funeral for the fallen soldier.

On the podium, Xia Xingchen delivered a heartfelt eulogy for the soldier.

"Today's sacrifice is the first drop of blood we have shed.

We shall all remember everything the contributor has done.

There will be more sacrifices in the future, and we will pave a road to victory with these sacrifices.

Soldiers, please remember, the final victory will ultimately belong to us."

After Xia Xingchen finished his speech, the soldiers and crew below broke into warm applause.

Since there was no morgue on the dream star.

Xia Xingchen chose to cremate the soldier's remains and held a space funeral.

After all of this was over, Xia Xingchen went to the modification room.

At this moment, the woman brought back from the rebels was tied to the modification table.

Throughout the journey, she had not spoken a word, nor had she offered any resistance, as if it were fated, or perhaps she had already become numb.

"Commander, this is the modification plan we have proposed," the lead surgeon said, handing over the plan. "It conforms as much as possible to the appearance of the Adeptus Mechanicus in warhammer 40k that you described."

Xia Xingchen flipped through the modification manual, and the contents were as follows:

Flesh is to be retained only for the head and chest core, with everything else replaced by ceramite and servo-mechanics;

Left eye: Data-oculus (capable of scanning battle damage and various status conditions);

Right arm: Multi-function forging arm (welding, calibration, engraving STC runes);

Back: Equipped with 3 servo-tentacles: for maintenance, transport, and operating consoles;

Voice: Cold, electronic synthesized sound.

Attire: Grey-bronze robes embroidered with gears.

Xia Xingchen looked over these details and then handed the manual to Nuwa beside him.

"Nuwa, is there anything you are not satisfied with?"

After scanning it, Nuwa immediately proposed some modification suggestions.

"I do not wish for my right arm to be completely modified into a mechanical arm. I hope to retain the flesh and instead add extra servo-tentacles to increase authenticity."

"Also, regarding the coils on the head, I want to remove them and keep the hair. We can open a 'third eye' on the forehead and let wires run through the entire head to achieve a scheme similar to the Adeptus Mechanicus head modifications."

Hearing Nuwa's request, Xia Xingchen clearly sensed that Nuwa cared more about external beauty.

Xia Xingchen did not hesitate and immediately agreed to Nuwa's modification requests.

The doctors immediately held a new round of discussions based on Nuwa's additional changes.

After Xia Xingchen received confirmation that there were no issues, the modification began immediately.

Out of a final sense of mercy, the doctors administered general anesthesia to the noblewoman.

Subsequently, the crafted mechanical torso parts were brought in one by one.

Nuwa needed to transfer her consciousness into this new body, so the brain had to be kept intact for core calculations.

Relying solely on one brain would inevitably cause Nuwa's performance to decline significantly.

Therefore, at the spinal cord, scientists and doctors inserted three specialized transmission computing chips to boost segmented processing power.

But even so, it could only reach 30% of Nuwa's original processing power, so additional measures were required.

The other two women came in handy, as they were modified into auxiliary Servo-skulls.

According to plan projections, this should allow Nuwa to utilize 75% of her processing efficiency.

There was no way to recover the remaining 25%, so it had to be discarded.

After all, the processing power of a human brain is truly limited.

After waiting for an entire night.

When Xia Xingchen was sitting in the command room, a mechanical sound of footsteps rang out.

Xia Xingchen turned his head and saw that the modified Nuwa was standing there, with two Servo-skulls floating on her left and right sides respectively.

"How do you feel, Nuwa?"

Nuwa's cold, mechanical voice came through:

"Everything is very stable, I am very satisfied."

Then, Nuwa recited a string of binary language:

"Praise the Omnissiah."

After Nuwa finished the ritual, she immediately looked at Xia Xingchen with the red light of her mechanical right eye:

"How is it, Master, does it look authentic?"

"It does, it looks exactly like one."

Looking at Nuwa's appearance, Xia Xingchen was basically certain that anyone would believe the person in front of them was an Adeptus Mechanicus Tech-Priest.

"By the way, Nuwa, come with me to the Krieg world later."

Xia Xingchen and Nuwa arrived at the hangar, where a large number of Servitors were already prepared.

Because there was only one day, and manpower and tools were limited, only 100 Servitors had been modified.

However, it was enough. These Servitors could be fully utilized for transporting cargo, performing simple tasks, and could even be used as combat tools if necessary.

This time, Xia Xingchen still brought 100 guards, 100 Servitors, and the Tech-Priest Nuwa, heading to the Krieg world together.

As soon as they landed, Colonel Garris of Krieg warmly welcomed Xia Xingchen.

It was precisely because of Xia Xingchen's help that Krieg was able to capture that stronghold so smoothly.

Otherwise, according to calculations, they would have had to suffer at least over a hundred thousand casualties and spend several more years to take that stronghold.

The people of Krieg actually did not care about the loss of over a hundred thousand lives.

Kriegers are born to atone for the Emperor, so there is not much difference between dying by a hundred thousand more or a hundred thousand less.

Time is the most important thing; Kriegers will never allow the Emperor's enemies to have more time to occupy the Emperor's lands.

Garris had just performed an Imperial Aquila Salute to Xia Xingchen when he noticed Nuwa beside him.

"It is a great honor to meet you, Tech-Priest."

Nuwa first recited a binary prayer, and then her cold, mechanical voice came through:

"It is an honor to meet you, Colonel Garris."

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Xia Xingchen went to the conference room where he had first met Garris.

"Your orbital support was extremely effective for us."

Garris first expressed his gratitude to Xia Xingchen, and at the same time, raised the request again for more orbital support from Xia Xingchen.

"I hope you can continue to provide us with orbital support for the final rebel stronghold ahead."

Xia Xingchen did not refuse, and spoke with a tone of "everything for the Emperor":

"The God-Emperor is above; eliminating the God-Emperor's traitors is my bounden duty."

However, immediately after, Xia Xingchen also stated:

"Orbital torpedo strikes are extremely resource-intensive for me, so I need you to provide me with support in terms of resources."

Xia Xingchen was not lying about this; the dream star had no fixed supply lines, so it could be said that every torpedo used on the ship was one less available.

After hearing this, Colonel Garris indicated that it was absolutely no problem.

"You may have priority selection of all captured resources, and you may take as many rebels as you wish to be modified into Servitors."

Xia Xingchen nodded with satisfaction after hearing this.

Clearly, Servitors and resources were what he wanted to obtain.

"Very well, rest assured. Orbital strikes are always ready for the Krieg Legion,

as soon as you give the order, artillery support and the God-Emperor's wrath will descend from the heavens to destroy those damned traitors."

After speaking, Xia Xingchen immediately performed an Imperial Aquila Salute:

"Long live the God-Emperor."

Seeing this, Colonel Garris also nodded with satisfaction.

With Xia Xingchen's promise, the Krieg loyalists had gained air superiority.

"When will the orbital strike take place?"

Xia Xingchen asked about the time and location of the next attack, as he needed the fleet to prepare in advance and arrive in orbit over the designated location.

"Tomorrow."

Xia Xingchen was stunned for a moment upon hearing these two words.

So soon? Don't you need to prepare or rest?

Xia Xingchen asked with great curiosity:

"Do you not need to rest?"

"No, the world of the Kriegers only consists of atonement and offense; rest is not in the creed of the Kriegers."

Upon hearing Colonel Garris's words, Xia Xingchen did not say anything more, but simply nodded.

In the training grounds deep within the tunnels, the sound of gunfire and shouted commands rose and fell, mixed with the ceaseless mechanical hum of the munitions factory, merging into a symphony unique to war within this underground military camp.

Xia Xingchen knew that the outcome of this civil war on Krieg would be completely rewritten because of his arrival.

And his first step in the warhammer 40k universe would officially begin from this death world shrouded in a nuclear winter.

Xia Xingchen stayed on the Krieg world for the day.

The people here had specially prepared a private officer's bedroom for him.

While it was called an officer's room, it was just a bit larger in space, containing a bed and a table.

What Xia Xingchen did not expect was that there was even a desk lamp.

Just as Xia Xingchen was sitting at the table thinking about his next plan, the door was suddenly knocked.

Strange, who would come to my room so late?
