140: Chapter 140 Training

Over the next few months, besides handling daily government affairs, Xia Xingchen spent his time screening the Transmigrators who came to seek refuge.

Xia Xingchen found the technologies of two individuals to be quite interesting.

One was named Su She. Before transmigrating, she was an incoming college freshman, but unfortunately, before her good life could even begin, she was dragged by the system into the absurd world of warhammer 40k.

The technology she mastered was called Civil Exoskeleton Technology. Although the Empire had a similar technology called Servo-Armor, Xia Xingchen did not possess it.

This technology could be understood as a simplified version of Servo-Armor, relying on exoskeletons to increase production efficiency.

Following that, there was another person named Xu Jian.

The technology he possessed was called Food Modules.

This dehydration compression technology could compress ten tons of raw materials into one ton of finished product, with transport space reduced to only thirty percent of the original.

Under standard packaging, this type of module could achieve a shelf life of up to one hundred and sixty standard years, sufficient to support expeditionary fleets in any long-term crusade across star sectors.

Xia Xingchen immediately sent the coordinates to both of them, informing them to rendezvous there if they were willing to come.

While browsing through other messages, Xia Xingchen soon discovered a strange letter with the title "Eternal Science Association."

He recalled that the Wise One of this organization had chatted with him a few times, with the goal being the legendary Astartes Monk.

Xia Xingchen opened the message, which read:

"If you wish to obtain an Astartes Monk, please respond to our call at the end of the 40th millennium. This is only a preliminary invitation; if you agree, please reply."

After reading it, Xia Xingchen immediately replied: "I agree. If you have any requirements, please send a message."

Soon, a message was sent back from the Wise One:

["You have done a very correct thing. We will obtain scientific data, and you will receive an Astartes Monk."]

Just after seeing this message, unable to suppress the curiosity in his heart, he sent a message to ask.

["What makes you so sure?"]

["Secret."]

Xia Xingchen felt helpless.

After finishing these tasks, he yawned.

For some reason, he had been feeling increasingly sleepy lately, and strange scenes always appeared in his dreams.

But every time he woke up, he forgot them completely, knowing only that as the number of dreams increased, the illusions became more and more realistic.

Xia Xingchen took the tea handed to him by Cassandra and took a sip.

He stood by the porthole, watching the towering Space Elevator continuously going up and down.

Xia Xingchen's government had been continuously pushing forward the development work on Pasture Field Planet.

The food problem was very important.

In the future, Pasture Field Planet would be completely transformed into an agricultural planet, and the vanguard troops had already started large-scale land reclamation on it.

Xia Xingchen had been steady and solid, promoting full mechanization, and had reclaimed nearly ten million mu of land on Pasture Field Planet alone.

These lands were all planted with common Imperial crops. Coupled with the food modularization technology, he was very confident that the future army would no longer lack food.

But Xia Xingchen also had concerns:

He lacked high-yield crop varieties. In the world of warhammer 40k, high-yield crops were often the foundation of a family, and no one would easily hand over the seeds, not even the Empire.

For example, the Solas family recorded in Imperial history once mastered a high-yield crop, relying on their agricultural planet to supply more than seventy percent of the food for the entire star sector, and they refused to share this core family technology with anyone.

However, when thinking about this, Xia Xingchen suddenly felt a wave of dizziness and fatigue.

It seemed it was time to sleep.

Xia Xingchen lay on the bed in his bedroom, and Cassandra and Hecuba carefully tucked the Archon in.

Just as Xia Xingchen lay down to sleep, mourn-bane, placed at the head of the bed, suddenly erupted with intense Warp energy, and the surrounding scene changed instantly.

Cassandra and Hecuba, waiting outside the door, sensed the anomaly. With their powerful psychic perception, they quickly detected unusual fluctuations coming from inside the room.

The two wanted to call out and ask, but the master's voice suddenly came from inside the room.

It sounded like him, but something was off.

"It is nothing. Without my permission, no one is allowed to enter."

Upon hearing this, Cassandra and Hecuba immediately nodded and resumed their guard at the door.

When Xia Xingchen opened his eyes.

No, where is this?

Is this still his room?

Before Xia Xingchen's eyes, only a bed remained, and the surrounding environment had completely changed.

If one were to describe it, it was filled with golden light, and in front of him was that incomparably magnificent throne.

Xia Xingchen stood up, and the magic sword mourn-bane was right beside him.

He immediately gripped the magic sword tightly; after all, in this eerie space, it was the only thing he could trust.

Xia Xingchen walked forward a few steps and looked up, seeing an existence shaped like a mummified corpse sitting on the Golden Throne.

He was still wearing exquisitely crafted golden armor, which was completely out of place with that face that should have been incomparably handsome.

At this moment, it was as if all the blood and vitality had been drained from his body, and he was bound to this Golden Throne.

The Emperor?

Xia Xingchen realized instantly that the person in front of him was the Emperor.

He didn't know why the Emperor had brought him here, but his first thought was to leave quickly; he didn't want to become any sort of "Chosen."

The Emperor's voice soon rang out, like an old man who had experienced all the vicissitudes of life.

"You have no choice. I need the Far East; I need the Dark Side."

This voice did not come from the outside, but rang directly in Xia Xingchen's mind.

"No, what do you want to do?"

The voice only transmitted three words.

"Too weak."

What?

Before Xia Xingchen could react, a golden-armored warrior appeared in front of him.

Xia Xingchen recognized it at a glance; this was a Custodian.

But unlike a normal Custodian, this warrior was burning with black flames all over his body.

In the next second, the Custodian drew a power glaive and slashed straight at Xia Xingchen.

Damn, is the Emperor trying to kill me?

Before he could react, he was slashed in two by a single strike.

He didn't even have time to feel the pain of death before his upper and lower body were separated.

But in the next second, Xia Xingchen took a sharp breath and appeared in the same spot, completely unharmed.

The power of this space, combined with the rules rewritten by the Emperor, granted him an undying body.

But why was there still a golden-armored warrior in front of him?

Xia Xingchen didn't dare to hesitate and immediately assumed a combat stance to block with his sword, but the Custodian's speed was simply too fast. With a flash of the blade, his head was severed.

The third resurrection.

This time he wanted to use nanomaterials, but found that he couldn't invoke his nano-powers at all.

In that moment of distraction, the long-handled power blade pierced through his chest again.

The fourth, the fifth, the sixth time...

Until the one-hundredth resurrection, Xia Xingchen finally blocked the first strike, only to be killed by the Custodian's second strike immediately after.

The Emperor's voice sounded again.

"Go out, handle everything, and come back."

Before Xia Xingchen could react, he was pushed out of this space.

When Xia Xingchen woke up, he found himself drenched, sweat having soaked through the entire bedsheet.

He reached out and pushed open the bedroom door, and Cassandra and Hecuba immediately came forward to meet him.

"How long have I slept?"

Cassandra immediately replied:

"You have slept for a day and a night."

Upon hearing this, Xia Xingchen immediately asked:

"Has no one come to look for me?"

Cassandra replied immediately:

"The Minister of Interior said there was an important matter to discuss with you, but we stopped them."

Xia Xingchen nodded upon hearing this; so that was it.
